    One of my first real jobs as a college student was soldering at a tech company. I would solder the same thing repetitively for days. every once in a while I would mindlessly pick up the bus wire and wonder why it wasn't working as solder. That was funny you mentioned that.

      Its usually not the truss rod that's an issue its peoples knowledge of how they work that is the issue.

    Dave, great instruction on the pot ground tab bus wire and two-way truss rods, thanks!
    If an opportunity comes up to teach us about why not to try interchanging Metric and Imperial knobs on the Metric and Imperial pot splines we could have some fun with that.
    And no friggen hammers on the pots.

    really good learning video to set up your guitar. this being and older epi les paul the frets could be worn but id say never correct to start with. epiphone has really gotton better on all this fret issue stuff. i have one they are great now. but i learned to set my guitar up with the proper tools here in the us from Dave!! thats a fact. now all my guitars are to Daves specs and play beautiful

    I had the same condition on my Gretsch Electromatic 12 string. A turn or two past neutral gave me the relief I needed.

      Many musicians never learn to use their words. Some never learn to use their notes either! 😉 (But seriously, guitarists often don't have the requisite knowledge, nor the vocabulary, to accurately describe the problems they're experiencing with their instrument).

    Toggle switch is probably flipped so the player can two-hand tap and not flick it to the neck position.

    "Hey what temp do I set the iron to for this solder , it's not melting" For that wire sir 1084°C (1983°F) it ain't solder ;)

      700 degrees F fixed. variable temp irons are not great used for fine jewelry, gold silver, and VERY fine electronics..not guitar electronics..lots of junk soldering irons out there. I only use WELLER

      ​@@DavesWorldofFunStuff, as an audio repair bench tech for decades, I too have tried to solder a few connections with what turned out to be tinned wire that I mistook for solder. It's a sure bet that I'll do it again someday.....🤪

    I've got an Ibanez RG5EX1 and I am afraid to change a broken High E string. Can you give me advice or tell me about a video I can watch?
    I haven't tried to fix it because of the Floyd Rose trem and locking tuners .

    why anyone would by an Epi is beyond me...hello that ground work on the pot is a good example of why you would pass on that brand

      Some one else FKD with the guitar. They do not come messed up like that, but many times the frets need a leveling. I love my EPI 1960 Tribute Plus.

      ​@@freedomination2, bad wiring on a guitar is typically a lot easier (and cheaper) to repair than a bad fret installation. I can fix the electronics but I would never tackle a fret job. Man's got to know his limitations.....
