    The fact that Marpessa Dawn said she was born of a Filipino father and an American mother is endearing. I say that because I see things in the very same way. I often shake my head after hearing presenters, or those with a public platform refer to one individual by their nationality, and the other by a perceived colour and placement in a box.

      I loved growing up in the 70's, as a child what probably made it a golden era is that we knew little about the racism our parents experienced and we grew up seeing black images during the height of black pride. Speaking from the perspective of a 9-10 yr old. 63' baby boomer

    Great video and tribune to these beautiful, talented Black female actresses and entertainers. Marpessa Dawn and Shelia Guyse are breathtakingly beautiful women as well as the other beauties in this video. These ladies are truly a treasure.
    Black Orpheus was a classic, iconic film that opened up Brazilian and Afro South American culture to the world in the 1950s.

    The Pace sisters Judy and Jean were beautiful movie stars of the 60's. They were darker skin ladies, very talented. All of the skin tones of African Americans are georgeous.

    I never heard of any of these Beautiful Black Actress except for Ruby Dee . My favorite movies by her are ,a Raisen in the sun ,Do the right thing, Jungle Fever and American Gangsta.

    I remember after being in an Elvis Presley film. At one of his first Vegas shows, he introduced her from the stage as a beautiful friend. When the spotlight didn’t really capture her, he again said put the spotlight on her, asked her to stand up and again said what a beautiful friend she was. Barbara McNair !

    I'm 63, did integration in the 60s and loved, loved❤️💛💚💜💙🧡🤍🖤 Teresa Graves and Brenda Sykes. I was the light-skinned girl in the family who had the high IQ, spoke properly and had to constantly physically fight at home for being too light and school for being too black. Stayed in sun and prayed to get darker...finally did, HalleluYAH!! 🤸🏾‍♀️Ordered and just received a set of 71 Race Films from Ebay. Thank you Karine for letting it be known that these are still available!!

    I had known about Ms. Ruby D but not about the rest of these gorgeous ladies. Yeah no one chooses where they are born from. If you know you're a direct descendant of black relatives then you are black, shouldn't matter the shade or mix. All these women were iconic and trailblazers in their own right. They all stuck out for their morals and fought against the status. Black beauty is world beauty. Thank you for the educating as always.

    Miss Washington the fourth lady was blessed with the Spirit of Courage from the Lord Jesus to stand up for what she believed in and not take the easy Road I have friends of all Races that are trying to pass to be honest they do quite well they do it simply to get nicer jobs it is sad that in 2024 passing is still necessary to gain acceptance or to gain finances😢
