Because they weren't. The notion that you can change your gender is false, and utterly ludicrous. This is common knowledge to most people. Proponents of the pride movement started to fabricate new identies, ideologies, and morals in an attempt to justify and conceal the perversion/ degeneracy that permeates their community. There's no factual foundational basis to modern gender ideology, they just expect you to believe it while propagating fallacies.
Notice how the goal post changed from "sex and gender are different," to now referring trans women as male to females? Exactly. It's not meant to be consistent or make sense, you're just expected to believe it at face value. It went from "let us live" to forcing everyone to conform to their delusions to validate an identity that they themseleves don't even believe in very quick.
Their real agenda is dark and predatory, which is why they're targeting the most vulnerable and impressionable demographic to instil their values in ie. children. I'm 19, and the amount of children that are actively being groomed into transitioning is staggering. Not to mention most of these kids are on the spectrum or either neurodivergent, consequently making them even more vulnerable to radical ideologies/echo chambers online. They know what they're doing.
Honestly, if Octavia was alive today, I don't think he'd approve of what's currently going on. However, I do respect his honesty, perseverance, and ambition while also unapologetically being himself.

I lived in LA in the early 90’s. There was a club called Peanuts that had a Trans girl night. I had a friend who was mid-transition and it was from her that I found out about Eddie Murphy, long before it hit the tabloids. All the T-girls knew him. My friend also claimed to have dated Dolph Lundgren (not sure about that one) - it was well known that a whole lot of straight male celebrities were not as straight as they seemed or claimed to be. Glad that is now common knowledge

In Thailand, they call transgendered individuals “the 3rd” sex and they are pretty much respected in their country. I often wonder in America, if we took the male vs. female debate out of it, and just use the term “3rd” sex (which would be transgendered individuals) would there be so much fighting? I think that would be wonderful but there are a lot of people that are proud for being ignorant. They call it traditional and values but like so many people couldn't be themselves back then either but I really think it will take some time to create the 3rd gender or identity just like it did for gay rights back in the early 2010s

I'm glad she did too. Octavia had it going on and needed some recognition. But I did not know she was close to the trans women that were getting with Eddie but that makes sense because Toni Newman, the transgender that was picked up by LL Cool J and Mr Cee also was out in those Ny streets and saw Eddie come out alot to pick up trans women as well. I just learned about Octavia a few years ago when I watched Paris Burning and just had to know who is this stunning beauty and is she still living. I was happy to see she made it longer than expected after the movie but sad to see she passed from her complications.
