The French modeling agencies discriminate. When I tried to get into modeling, I would walk into agencies in Paris, and they would say... "Sorry! we already have 2 black girls... Or "sorry, you are beautiful but we can't represent you because of your height, black models don't work, they only do shows". I had to move to the US to be be able to find representation and work. I guess everyone jas a different experience. John Casablancas was most likely a racist under cover. As far as Jean Paul Goude. No wonder they split... He said she looked hideous and grotesque, I dont care if he said that she is beautiful right next to it... That's like gaslighting.
Good lord, what an amazingly beautiful woman. She is literally one of the blueprints of the fashion world today. Her impact and influence is undeniable. These chilrens better learn where all these fashions and looks come from.
She truly is a blueprint, a lot of the girls on the runway today have a grace Jones aesthetic, and her personal style is too sharp, Grace used to give us YSL and Mugler tough!
That video was great about Grace Jones, I always loved her. She was a odd beauty to me, I never could get enough watching her on screen in movies or her music videos. Thank you, so misunderstood and so genius in her own right.💙
Grace Jones is everything, she is the epitome of the elegant and edgy black woman, she is the go to for inspiration for fashionistas everywhere, I would love to see Tianna Taylor play her in a tribute or a biopic.😘
I recently watched her Bloodlight and Bami documentary. I loved it and she has worked hard for what she has. I absolutely love her even more. Also I remember in an interview she honestly made me realize being a queer person was okay. She said “I find women attractive and if I didn’t find find women attractive I wouldn’t find myself attractive.” She basically said that it’s ridiculous to categorize people’s feelings and do what you feel like it, when you feel like and if you feel like it.
This background music that you have daughter is not only beautiful, but psychologically soothing and inspiring for those who have grief and ptsd❤ Grace Jones designed and sewed her own costumes. My mother sewed; sewing is very arduous. She was an artist in so many ways!
THANK YOU for doing the INFAMOUS Grace Jones! As a child of the 80's, (born Dec. 1981) I was always fascinated by her. My family ALWAYS had several tabloids laying around, & whenever I would see those centerfolds of various fashion icons, if it included any pics of Grace, I was shocked & in awe! I'll never forget the fishnet bodysuit, the chainmail outfit, the unnamed outfit, because no words exist to describe it really; nobody was as BOLD as Grace! And only SHE could pull off those fashion choices. You could tell she picked these shocking ensembles for HER pleasure, & that's the only reason that counts! Oh, & I loved her in Conan the Barbarian, lol. In Living Color did a skit on her that was hilarious, if you are able to find it! I think it was Kim Wayans playing Grace, & she was growling & howling lol. Anyway, I love your channel & videos like this are why!
That ILC skit was the first I’d heard about her as I was born in 02 so we had the entire series on video and disk. 😂 I remember Kim singing “Slave to the rhythm!!!” And dragging the guy in the restaurant. Or the skit where she fought rocky.😂😂😂
@@jama3997 TOO funny!! Yeah, ILC was/is one of THE BEST classic American skit comedy shows, & I wish more people knew of/appreciated it! I also have ILC on DVD, but way less than you do. If ONLY I had ALL of ILC, all of Seinfeld, & all of Dave Chappelle, I would feel so complete. One sweet 3day🤞
Grace Jones is iconic & legendary. She was ahead of her times, and still is. Thanks so much for giving her, her flowers, and insight to her as an individual.
I loved Grace growing up. She was tall, powerful, and took no bullshit. To me she was beautiful AND strong. I remember sneaking into the room when my mom would be watching Conan The Destroyer just to see her scenes. I was sad when she wasn't in Red Sonja. Could you just imagine a movie with Brigitte Nielsen and Grace Jones in it? 🤩 I was similarly beaten as a little girl. I never knew we had that in common. 😥
Omg I adored and still adore Grace Jones. Omg she was so outstanding and beautiful. She was so unique and outrageous. I love her. I loved her androgynous looks. I also loved the male androgynous equivalent who was David Bowie. She was absolutely fascinating. She wasn't classical but I admired her looks and persona right from the start. She was the whole package she was magnificent. I admired her bravery of her image. She was amazing!
Yesss.. I love how her androgynous equal, to you, is David bowie. 👏 . I love this point you just made. 👏 👏 I can see the similarities. 😊. ( i agree). Grace and David were both stunning. 👍
Just watched the movie she filmed back in 2005 that premiered in 2017 (Bloodlight and Bami). Many years in the making. She endured a lot growing up being in her words "crushed underneath the bible" with beating abuse by Mas P. Much respect and love to this woman who is beautiful, made strong and cares for others. I hope at age 74 she is fully living in peace and freedom💗
The Modeling/Fashion industry, Hollywood and the music industry needed somebody like Grace Jones to basically shake things up...she was ahead of her time in so many ways...the sad thing is, America was not ready for her including most people of Color...they said she was too masculine, strange, and they even called her unattractive...Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kelis, Beyonce , Rihanna, Katy Perry, and etc...they all took notes because there is only one Grace Jones...often imitated...but never truly duplicated!
I adore this lady. She’s so womanly and sexy. Confident. Ballsy. She just knows her look and what people will think and owns it. I love that. She’s wise, elegant, and just not afraid to take room. To me she’s one of the most beautiful women that has ever lived to me.
I have admired Grace Jones for years. The female version of David Bowie in my opinion. She made her own rules and did it with such class. Creativity should always be celebrated💜
I live and I grew up in Paris. I don’t know where you get this information but Paris is really racist. France is really racist as a whole. They can use her image to make profit but will never consider her as a human being. As a Parisian black girl I can’t let you say that even if I usually love your work.
Always liked her eccentric style and loved her in Boomerang. Pull up to my Bumper Baby is still my jam. My gay coworker was obsessed with her. Grace Jones is a legend.
I love Grace. If she would’ve came out in THIS climate or even in the 90s She would have been a superstar. Supermodel even ❤ she was so ahead of her time.
Thank you Karine! This was lovely! Always thought Grace Jones was an exotically beautiful woman! I really enjoyed seeing photos of her w/softer lines in several of the photos - in terms of hair, makeup & outfit. I remember her from the 80's & I always saw her with a harder edged look (as we all had then!) all of those geometric lines & louder makeup were what was in at the time. I didn't know much about Ms. Jones, but I would not have guessed her to be Jamaican rather I thought French or Haitian perhaps - I dunno why I always imagined her having a French accent lol!
I think the best way to ensure that your child will be wild and rebellious is to beat them and generally be abusive to them much like the adults in Grace Jones’ childhood. Guaranteed!!! Serves them right because what are the children supposed to do: submit?! Good for her!! Growing up, she was definitely an inspiration and her strength and femininity were very important and powerful.
Omg I am so glad I found your channel I love it!! I saw Grace Jones the very first time when watching the movie VAMP!!! My first thought then and now is she is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! She is EXOTIC and ICONIC LOVE HER❤❤
Love this lady, with one exception, her actions in front of the kids. Just as I don't give a thought about anyone's sexuality, I am equally as strong minded against anyone taking children and putting them in a situation that is not their right to do. Grace Jones was always just living her own life in her own unique way.
i met grace Jones in NYC many many years ago. on 6av ( ave of the Americas) CR. 53 st. She Had an appointment. I was Messenger. I recognized her, We talked for about 5-8 Minutes. She was such a Warm and friendly person. really down to Earth. in her Beauty she is Stunning...
Ahhhhh!!! The absolutely gorgeous Grace Jones!!!! There has never been another like her … i remember the first time i saw her i was intrigued and had to know more bout her… always loved her fashion and her no bullshit attitude as well as the confidence that she she has and it shows!!! Much love to her and thank u for serving always
I knew she was Jamaican without the google shmoogle. My brain just always think she is lol. I get called crazy in Jamaica, but they love me in Japan. My style and femininity is weird to people so I try to fake it and be normal. Honestly I don’t even know what normalcy is. Thank you for this video. I will use it to help me to be myself.
The first time I heard of her was when I went to see the Conan movie and she was a scene stealer...fascinating. Then I realized that I was dancing to some of her songs at the discos. It was the first time I became aware of the concept on androgyny. Her fashion tastes were not always very appealing but I understood that she was an artist. I think that you can not beat Christianity into a person's soul...she was a survivor!
When people say she is displaying a white man’s version of African beauty, the white man is seeing something beautiful in her blackness and yet we still have a problem. She was an artistic muse, as with so many white women of the past. Is her blackness not worthy of being an artist’s muse?
Grace Jones is my inspiration; as a young child it was unusual to see a richly melanated beautiful woman. She didn't cover her AFRO in the movies and magazines! That was HUGE ❤! Back in the day, I had a poster of her. I wish I thought about putting it in a frame. She is amazing 🤩 and ALL the little black girls wanted to copy her makeup, her expressions, her everything!
I love her so much. She’s so pretty and when I saw her in Conan the destroyer I definitely got a little more obsessed. Funny you’re making this video and I was just thinking about her in Vamp. I wanna recreate the look she did. Also, her being born in ‘48 is the most plausible because if she was doing gogo in the 60s she would’ve been the right age. She would’ve been 8 by the time the gogo period started if she was born in ‘52. If I’m not wrong it’s her stated birth year online as well.
Absolutely a great job. I love this video, it was extremely informative. There's a lot of things I learned about Grace Jones. I have also been a huge fan of hers. She is truly Beautiful, and gifted Black Queen. Who is Legendary and extremely Iconic. She has overcome so much to let the world know just how phenomenal she is. Again a really great job. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

She was great in the movies to, such a strong personality. And even fairly recently she was singing and hula hooping on stage and she looks and sounds great. maybe because she took such a long break she didn't wear out her voice like so many singer do. And yes, a child's life on the islands is hard, so much abuse is taken for granted.

She’s VERY bold, brave, and beautiful as someone wise once said ✨
This can't be real, I was just thinking about her today, and I rarely think of her! Grace Jones is an Ebony Goddess!
❤
We are simply aligned ❤
@@KarineAlourde We are! ✨
Lmao funny enough I was too yesterday - I clicked so fast! 🙌🏾😍🤣
We didn't get enough of grace Jones in this lifetime. She is such an avant-gardist in so many aspects that I could listen to her stories forever.
I thought Grace was gorgeous then, and shes gorgeous now. And she was soooo talented. Love her singing voice! Her talent was extremely unestimated.
Yes she is
Good lord, what an amazingly beautiful woman.
She is literally one of the blueprints of the fashion world today.
Her impact and influence is undeniable.
These chilrens better learn where all these fashions and looks come from.
Exactly!
Thank you, so misunderstood and so genius in her own right.💙
Her music was everything she was a female Bowie! I’m 59 I was there she was wow!❤❤❤❤
Or was Bowie the male Grace? 😂😂
Could you imagine if they did a duet? Oh hell yeah!
Grace Jones is everything, she is the epitome of the elegant and edgy black woman, she is the go to for inspiration for fashionistas everywhere, I would love to see Tianna Taylor play her in a tribute or a biopic.😘
That would be an awesome role for Teyana. I didn’t realize the similarities between the two until your comment.
@@KO-D00M yes! I can see Teyana playing her in a biopic
She truly is a beauty, we're here for this video Karine 💗 😘
😘♥️
I always thought she was beautiful. She is unique. I love her!
Well-said
I use to think she was crazy but now I think she is memorable.
Let me get into this! 🇯🇲 In the house. The Legend, the Icon, Grace Jones. Move Out The Way!
Ok
Pull up to the bumper, baby!
She’s definitely a work of art😊
Grace Jones was absolutely unique, and that is what makes people stand out. She was true to herself, and the rest is history!
I wish I had them ALL. I do have the entire Golden Girls series on DVD, & watch them while cleaning my kitchen. If ONLY I had ALL of ILC, all of Seinfeld, & all of Dave Chappelle, I would feel so complete. One sweet 3day🤞
Her singing voice was beautiful, that first clip especially.
I was similarly beaten as a little girl. I never knew we had that in common. 😥
She literally has a song "Bullshit"! That's one quality that made her SO magnetic!
Grace danced to the beat of her own drum. She is a world icon gifted to the world from the Island of Jamaica 🇯🇲
She is gorgeous, she look regal. Her bone structure is absolutely phenomenal .
What a compassionate tribute video honoring her GRACE. THANK YOU!! Infinite blessings 🙌🏾 🙏🏽 ✨️ 💖
She was unique and talented!
Grace Jones is a legend. She is literally the blueprint. 🥰
She had the most beautiful albulm covers just a bold beautiful artist still under appreciated
This is my hero and icon. Fierce and intelligent and drop dead beautiful 💜💜💜💜💜💜
I love her!! She's just from another galaxy to me 😍🌌
The Modeling/Fashion industry, Hollywood and the music industry needed somebody like Grace Jones to basically shake things up...she was ahead of her time in so many ways...the sad thing is, America was not ready for her including most people of Color...they said she was too masculine, strange, and they even called her unattractive...Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kelis, Beyonce , Rihanna, Katy Perry, and etc...they all took notes because there is only one Grace Jones...often imitated...but never truly duplicated!
I adore this lady. She’s so womanly and sexy. Confident. Ballsy. She just knows her look and what people will think and owns it. I love that. She’s wise, elegant, and just not afraid to take room. To me she’s one of the most beautiful women that has ever lived to me.
This woman is one of my favs! Omg, I love her style, look and features
I have admired Grace Jones for years. The female version of David Bowie in my opinion. She made her own rules and did it with such class.
Creativity should always be celebrated💜
Yes! A great comparison.
I live and I grew up in Paris. I don’t know where you get this information but Paris is really racist. France is really racist as a whole. They can use her image to make profit but will never consider her as a human being. As a Parisian black girl I can’t let you say that even if I usually love your work.
You just reminded me of the shockingly beautiful lady I saw as a child. She made an impact in me as a child. I love her!
She’s drop dead gorgeous ❤❤❤😂
It was the step-grandfather
I cannot believe she was ever introverted. I love her. She's so free spirited.
We literally had NO IDEA who we were Graced with back then!! 😍😍😍😍Thank you for this!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you God for your mercy and Grace!!!
Grace jones is one of my favorite artists ever!!!! So excited for this.
She was and still is my music and style icon!..Incomparable and Inimitable Ms Jones!.❤❤❤
Omg I am so glad I found your channel I love it!! I saw Grace Jones the very first time when watching the movie VAMP!!! My first thought then and now is she is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! She is EXOTIC and ICONIC LOVE HER❤❤
Goddess of all time 🔥👌🏾
Love this lady, with one exception, her actions in front of the kids. Just as I don't give a thought about anyone's sexuality, I am equally as strong minded against anyone taking children and putting them in a situation that is not their right to do. Grace Jones was always just living her own life in her own unique way.
I always saw her as a black female version of David Bowie.
I always thought Grace Jones was an odd beauty. The is something about her that many find fascinating but cannot describe it.
I love the way she doesn’t give her age
i met grace Jones in NYC many many years ago. on 6av ( ave of the Americas) CR. 53 st. She Had an appointment. I was Messenger. I recognized her, We talked for about 5-8 Minutes. She was such a Warm and friendly person. really down to Earth.
in her Beauty she is Stunning...
She’s gorgeous! Anyone who has symmetry in their face is attractive even if they aren’t conventional
The way you put this imagery and story together is soooooo good! Thank you!❤
Wow these pics themselves are art.
The nude with microphone is sooo beautifully crazy!
The Self Made Documentary. Titled "Blood Light and Brim" she did only four year's ago. She was 70 . And, she is just unbelievably still gorgeous.
@@outback5thgate5658 ....bloodlight and BAMI.....is the name of the film....
Grace Jones is a stunner. First time I saw her was in the movie “A View to a Kill-007.” She is incredibly talented and her beauty is unique. ❤
Yes! Be yourself first. The only person you're obligated to make happy in this world is yourself. Forget about everyone else. 💓
I was awestruck then and to this day, still am. I absolutely adore her.❤️🥰
The first time I heard of her was when I went to see the Conan movie and she was a scene stealer...fascinating. Then I realized that I was dancing to some of her songs at the discos. It was the first time I became aware of the concept on androgyny. Her fashion tastes were not always very appealing but I understood that she was an artist. I think that you can not beat Christianity into a person's soul...she was a survivor!
I love your voice Karine. It makes me feel classy ✨ whenever I watch a video❤
When people say she is displaying a white man’s version of African beauty, the white man is seeing something beautiful in her blackness and yet we still have a problem. She was an artistic muse, as with so many white women of the past. Is her blackness not worthy of being an artist’s muse?
I've learnt a lot about so many people from the past that I didn't know
This warms my heart ♥️🥰
If she said she could “quit anytime and marry money, “she was not being used.
She was incredible. Impossible to pin down, simply unique and so BOLD!
Love her! Grace Jones is super iconic! She did what ever she wanted! Her style was unique! She was apart from what other women was doing in the area!! I respect her so much! That beautiful cocoa and flawless skin! My goodness! That body yes!! Love Grace very much!!💕💕💕💕💕💋💋💋💋
Those photos of her and Dolph Lundgren are 🔥🔥🔥! I love it!
