    Hey @Rex Smith
    Love to see you are doing the same stuff as I do :)
    Im building alot of similar "insane" EV's like these electric "scooters", gokarts and ATV.
    I do wonder, what is the weight on this vehicle?

    • @RexSmithII
      @RexSmithII  2 года назад

      I never weighed it, the frame is nothing, it’s all battery and motor weight.
      Battery’s estimated around 50lbs I guess. Motors 2 of them easy 50 lbs or more together, this video is old was my second time welding and fabricating.
      Thanks for the comments

    Can you list where you got the components to build this? I’ve been wanting to build one of these for a long time but I’m having a hard time sourcing the hub motors and what you used is perfect.

    • @RexSmithII
      @RexSmithII  3 года назад +1

      The hub motors were tuff to find the power I wanted, at that time was only one company I have found . They are shut down now because of the pandemic. I know AliExpress has ones up to 1000watts. The controller for this build I purchased off of eBay, they were too big for the hub motors, I went with the hub motors manufactures recommended controller!

      @@RexSmithII could you point me in the direction of where to look for the hub motors? I tried aliexpress but what a serious pain it is trying to work out logistics and finding exactly what you’re looking for as they don’t exactly list all the specs needed.

    What are the brand and model of the motors and controllers you ended up going with?

    • @RexSmithII
      @RexSmithII  3 года назад +1

      The controllers are from the hub motors manufacture, it’s a non brand controller,
      The hubs are a 8” hub that’s rated 2,000 watts, again no label on them. At the time these were the most watts available for this wide size hub

    • @Robert_Runyon
      @Robert_Runyon 3 года назад

      The motors are 8x8? 8" wide and 8" diameter?

    • @RexSmithII
      @RexSmithII  3 года назад

      @@Robert_Runyon Eight diameter and I believe 7 inches wide

    I know you mentioned they don’t have much torque, QS motors make Motors for wheels like that. How many amps are you pushing? What’s the phase amps?

    • @RexSmithII
      @RexSmithII  3 года назад +1

      Qs doesn’t make hub like this.
      This is a 18x 10.5 x 8 tire.
      Search qs nothing they make will fit this.
      I wanted a huge tire they was the point. This doesn’t push much amps, it’s not intended too.
      I would say about 80 amps peak

    I want one of these for deer hunting. I do not need incredible speed though 45 MPH would be nice. I want one with a built in rifle scabbard and sorry but I want it to have a standing bike seat like is mounted in a bass boat. I can remove the seat and seatpost that way like in a boat. It would give me the best of both worlds and make it into a better hunting machine. It must be able to survive in cold and must give me a long distance per charge so it can survive a full day of hunting. Build it for me with the cheapest possible materials that will still be reliable and I will pay you well for such a machine .
    You up for a customer project ? I have money on hand to pay you up front and give you a bunch of video content on the Tube while building it. Win win. I have a Gem car motor and controller with charger that is brand new if you want it for this project or I could donate it for you on a different project and use whatever motor you think would work best in a hunting scooter build. Contact me if you are interested .

      Sorry for late reply.
      Great idea for hunting! I also think life guards would find this a nice tool to add on saving people.
      Can you email me to go over more in detail?
      Shipping would be the bad thing as rates are crazy. But I have 3 different companies that roll the bikes on a enclosed trailer and deliver right to your door. I would send the keys in mail and video link describing everything on operation charging etc.
