Falcon tanks are perfect. That's why the model hasn't changed in 25+ sodding years...
They are absolutely perfect! They honestly don’t need changing!
Same as the Wave Serpent, and the Vyper imo. They all look so good
@@EliWintercross I'd love them to re-release the old Forgeword Wave Serpent upgrade kit, it looks great. I do think they could tidy up the old Vyper gunner to look a bit like the newer models.
@@EliWintercross They absolutely do!
Bought a Night Spinner recently (I just have the 1, I'm not a meta chaser I swear!) And while the design holds up, the kit for the body itself does show its age. Not sure if I just got a bad one, but it needed a fair bit of cleanup around sharp edges, and there just isn't as much detail there as there is on the much newer turret.
Not sure if they'd ever sink the money into just a very slight update, keeping the shape and lines as they are, but lifting it out of the 20th century?
I just saw a list of a player who ranked well at Atlanta World championship, who was using a wave serpent to transport unit of 5 wraithguards plus spiritseer and farseer
Wow nice! I’m so used to the 10 man brick 🧱 truthfully that’s awesome!
@ProxyHammer1 a difference is that these championship players are targeting the meta, where there is a lot of rhinos transporting big units of CSM, but Quinton Johnson was saying he expects much more Falcons and Wave serpents in our lists after the January update
@@ProxyHammer1 this was super common to do back in v3 and v4 and worked really well to make up for the wraithguards slow movement. you would just ram the serpents up the middle discharge the shields and drop off the wraithguad then use the twin star cannons to mop up. normally you would run 2 of these
@@Elios0000 Interesting! I can definitely see that though!
@@gillesmelet1044 Falcons and Serpents are fantastic now imo I’ve been using them since the beginning of the edition and especially now they are a bargain points wise
Hi PH, thanks as always for the videos, I really learnt a lot from this one too. Painting up some FDs at the moment which I’m looking forward to trying out with a Falcon in my next game, Peace Out!
Dude super cool my friend! Definitely try it! Super fun and very strong!
@@ProxyHammer1just read the earlier comment on a refresh. Must be frustrating for you with the data-slates affecting your content. I’m planning on doing an Alaitoc crusade army and saw your Alaitoc vid which I plan to listen too soon. Hoping it’ll still be relevant!
@@andysmith2235 All good honestly! Gives me more to think and talk about! Eventually I’ll do a refresh most of the alaitoc stuff remains unchanged
As the rules are written at the moment, Is it not allowed to deep strike the Falcon and disembark the units respecting also the 9 inch (for deep strike) rule ? .
You could try to make the argument, but a recent GW Tournament FAQ said no, so don't count on it long term.
I thought it was too until GW came out with their tournament FAQ 😔
Rapid ingress is still always an option though!
Now we can deasembark after deep strike.
So what it could change in tactics and coordinate attacks ?
You could definitely use the Falcon to drop in some Fire Dragons!
I'm trying to find somewhere in the rules where it's specified that you can't disembark when deep striking as you mention at 3:30
It doesn't specify it in the transports or deep strike rules in the app, and it's not mentioned in the movement phase part of the core rules document either. As far as I can see, those units started the movement phase in the transport, and can therefore disembark in the movement phase. If it said "move step" of the movement phase I'd get it, but it just says
"If a unit from your army starts your Movement phase embarked within a Transport model, that unit can disembark in that phase."
Am I not looking in the right area? It would be helpful if something so pivotal would be specified somewhere xD
I also can't seem to find the thing you mention a lot about vehicles with fly having trouble with ruins, isn't it just a matter of measuring diagonally up and then down a ruin if you want to move over it?
Yes but that takes more movement to move over than you would think 🫤
It’s a ruling that was clarified in the latest GW tournament FAQ. Not 100% official yet but probably will be come January
@@ProxyHammer1 Assuming this refers to the deep strike thing. In that case it'll take a fair bit of Rapid Ingress finessing to make Fire Dragons in Falcons as good as they are at the moment.
As far as I could tell, me in my last game Deep Striking in a Falcon in the backfield turn 2, disembarking my Fire Dragons + Fuegan to within melta range and absolutely obliterating a Dreadnought in a single turn before having almost uncontested control of my opponent's home objective was a pretty sick move xD But apparently that's going to take a bit more subtlety come January then...
Also, weird that there's an FAQ to a ruling that as far as I could tell doesn't exist haha.
Recent FAQ from a GW Tournament. Transports arriving from Reserve cannot immediately Disembark. No more Deep Strike Disembarking into a 6" Charge shenanigans.
Hey PH, Id be interested to hear your thoughts on majority melee eldar/ynnari lists, ive been trying to get one to work but to no avail so far.
That’s tough just because melee was hit so hard especially Eldar melee. Skyweavers are a great option as are Quins and scorpions 🦂 especially out of falcons for wound rerolls. I’ll definitely look into it shoot me an email and I’ll see if I can put a concept together!
I miss my 21" movement Serpents 😢
I miss my 24” movement serpents 😉 good old 5th edition Star engines!
I miss the 2+ glance chance from way back more
@@Gladerunner2113 Lol Ikr?!
Falcons are great, I always bring at least one.
My favorite transport in 10th edition!
@@ProxyHammer1 it's definitely well rounded and hard hitting for what it does. Definitely a contender.
@@coldsteel.and.courage The other day my dragons and Falcon melted two bike units sneaking up the flank 🔥 beautiful
Idk, if my opponent forces me to use 3CP to use Fire and Fade + Phantasm, I reckon they made a viable trade and put me in a bind. Its definitely worth using Phantasm, but Fire and Fade is pricey (for good reason)
Falcons losing Cloud Strike is pretty big, as well as the Webway Warrior stratagem, so the options for army wide shenanigans has dropped quite a bit. suppose GW wanted to reduce alpha strike damage (and that's fair enough ... on the recieving end)
I would argue that against fast combat comps like orks and world eaters/bike lists if you go second you are already going to be in a bind regardless (that’s just the matchup unfortunately). Paying 3CP for a phantasm+Fire and fade is a way to get out of it which is always worth it 😉 the Cp is there for a reason!
Losing cloudstrike did really suck unfortunately though 😔
@@ProxyHammer1I just saw a list that ranked very well at the recent World championship in Atlanta and it was using a Wave Serpent to transport 5 wraithguards
@@gillesmelet1044 That’s fantastic! They are durable enough to prevent Overwatch damage!
Fire and fade can’t be used in the opponents turn.
@@oliveribrahim7686 Ya you would use it beforehand depending on the situation.
Video really needs a refresh
Yes it definitely does! Plan on doing this soon!
First!
