My typical day goes as so...
Wake up at 5 am, work from 7 to 3, come home and eat a snack, workout, work on my businesses, journal/read before bed, and sleep!

I’m really interested in becoming a microbiologist and currently in dental hygiene school. Besides being interested in pathogens, I feel like I’ll get burned out from working with patients all day in my current career path.
Could you please possibly explain more in detail the pros and cons of working in a day as a Microbiologist. For instance, I’m a bit confused when you mentioned something about failing your projects? I’m just looking for a better understanding of what it is that you mean and overall overview of what you do in a day and how things can go wrong or right and how do you overcome or did your failures what are the consequences etc.

My experiment kept "failing" as in it wasn't working as expected and/or things kept going wrong (contamination, low concentrations, and other things out of my control). I just had to adjust and try again. No major consequence, it just holds me back from publishing a manuscript and/or giving a presentation and completing my project.
I just want to say that i never get any of the vloggers to be real as you are 🙏🙏♥️♥️

At 37 years old I took my first biology 101 class a year ago and cried for 4 months. I'm now taking physiology(finals next week) and grew to love it. Taking microbiology next semester and I'm terrified again especially with no chemistry background at all. Any suggestions? Are the concepts anything like the concepts and integrativeness we learn in physio?
I cried a lot in school too lmao. Biology is tough. To be honest, microbiology was my lowest grade in college!!
I would say you're OK without chemistry. I never took physiology or anatomy, but I did take animal biology.
Microbiology takes things a step further and will mostly focus on bacteria, viruses, prions, etc. and how they function.
I suggest using RUclips videos to understand concepts further. I don't retain information well so I had to study a lot, but that may not be the case for you. I also liked RUclips videos because I could see the process in my mind and make the connection better.
I also went to see my professor a lot to get help!
There is no chemistry in microbiology... atleast i don't need to study it

It depends. I repeat the same experiment over and over again, every week. Each day is different though. Science can be pretty repetitive!

Nice work out and routine...Using a leather support belt is comfortable during squat.
Nice rotating platform for plating....I use a glass spreader sterilize by using alcohol and flame to teach the students plating agar media in laminar air flow cabinet...don't have much budget from college
I used to teach a micro lab and we used metal loops and a bunsen burner for spreading!! Much more eco friendly.

I wanted to see if anyone ever posted a day in the life of a microbiologist. You know how tight the rules are where we work about filming and it’s such a shame bc what we do is so interesting.

Would doing an MSc in Microbiology and Immunology in Canada be beneficial compared to US? I am looking for better quality of life without any chaos. Great video btw!
If you want a better quality of life, I highly suggest not coming to Canada. Even in rural areas, the cost of living is very high and continues to get worse.
The government keeps lying to foreign students and those looking to immigrate about how great it is. If you have rich parents, by all means, you would have a livable experience. Otherwise, I suggest looking into European schools, some of which are free or incredibly low cost, even more so if you are willing to learn in a foreign language. Or they give full scholarships to international students.

FYI, just discovered your finance channel. Self-Dev is also a big one for me. I'm into stocks (not extremely of course) and read books on economics/finance, but anyway, I think we have so much in common that it would be a shame if we would not think of something to collaborate on in the future :)

We are not required to wear a cap! I work in an environmental lab though and men are not required to have a clean shave either!

Bachelors in Biology and masters in biology with a concentration in Microbiology.
Bachelors can be fine but may be less money. Experience is more important

@@nataliekath8296 Hello Natalie, first you need to know what are your preferences, if you see yourself liking the idea of being a scientist working in lab or a university phd teacher then you can study biology which is one of the most important sciences of all time.. then secondly you need to choose a speciality, I chose microbiology because it's so interesting and fun and ofc for me it has a great impact on the world a really huge one, I hope your parents can acknowledge the role of microbiology, and good luck 💜

Honestly I'm not entirely sure. However, I went to a bacteriophage conference earlier this year and there were a couple of companies doing HUGE things in the phage world and apparently it's a lot easier for things to get approved there. So I would say yes.

Both of my degrees are biology, however my masters was a "concentration in microbiology." You could definitely do microbiology in grad school though if the university you attend offers it. Mine did not offer a major in micro

Definitely.
Where I work people have beards, purple hair, tattoos, you name it!

@@andrewahlstrom5427 of course it depends on the job and it's probably best to keep it "clean/trimmed," but yeah. I have really long hair and a simple pony tail does the trick!
I worked in a biotech company from age 24 to age 28, wore bandshirts and skate sneakers most of the time. Even had a left ear 8 mm stretcher for 3 of those years...
I was climbing up and got senior research associate at the end...
Then went off to do a PhD, which I'm doing now.
Point being: perhaps not being toooooo expressed that it's appalling...work ethic and postive attitude/character should prevail
Edit: forgot to mention that I also suck at shaving so I walk around with medium stubble almost always :D
