When I started fishing in Poole Harbour, I was 4 yrs old and I lived on Furzey Island and in the early 1950’s we put out trots overnight to catch flounders and plaice. In those days the harbour was full of fish. Later we moved to Round Island and mainly caught bass, in the late 1950’s. By 1961 we live on Brownsea Island and agin the fish caught changed. In the summer it was mackerel and pollack. My dad put out lines overnight and caught large conger eels of the Quay pier. Rag worm were the only bait we used to catch flounders and plaice. Bass and pollack mainly on lures. Never used lug worms at all, we always chucked them back when bait digging. Largest bass I caught was when I was 11 years old off the pier on Round Island, early one morning, and it was 3lb 13 and a half ounces and Oh was I a proud happy girl that morning!
Hi guys great vid. We have a resurgence of Flounder here in the Isle of Wight all of a sudden, after our rivers are policed more. A lot of Flounder were being netted for pot bait by the dole scum. We use size 2 opposed to size 4. It just stops the hook going a little deeper into the gut. Plus leaving a large snood tag on the hook can stop that. Happy fishing lads :-)
3 flats in first three casts is good for ham common.i sat there for 6 hrs the other day had a flounder of 22cm a dragonet and 2 small ballan wrasse.that was november 5th 2017,the day before i blanked but an old boy on the pier had 3 and half lb plaice.cool video
Thanks for sharing your video it was great, I think that I would have kept two of the large flounder, they are lovely eating fish. When I use to go fishing I PUT SOME BACK ONLY KEPT 2 LARGE. I wish that I could go fishing now but age and health prevent me, also I don't drive any more. Awaiting your next video?
Samuelstudios- yes commentary is something id like to add to the next video however to sound quality on the gopro in waterproof cases is not good so will maybe do voiceover or use the other camera but thanks again for feedback and support guys :)
ishak- Its actually the colmic primera and zeroseven f1 i use but most of the colmic beach rods are fantastic fishing rods. thanks for the support we have some great plans hopefully you will enjoy them too :)
Rigs are simple 1 up 1down or 2 hook flapper with 2ft snoods and pop ups these will work for plaice too but if remove the pop ups personally. Hope this helps
This particular session was a mark near Rockley mate evening hill is renound for being a better night venue try the upper reaches in the daytime from November onwards Arne is a good daytime venue. Hope this helps
uk beach fishing tv Hey, this is a brilliant guide, thanks. Where in Arne do you fish? I don't rate Shipstal Point, though I do know some brilliant locations there, but they're not legit 😉....
new to sea fishing am normally a carp fisherman went last week and caught loads of mini species, i now live in poole was just wondering if bass and other fish have come from evening hill?
no the primera is softer than the zero seven but equally as good in its own discipline also a great scratching rod when match fishing and i can stil hit it 140 metres with 100gr lead

Good vid.
I love this guy's accent: "free casts, free flounder." (getting 3 fish in 3 casts.)

where are you fishing in this video? I normally fish around evening hill in Poole and have never had as much success as this during the day
You should put the lug on first, the rag will hold better while the lug might slip off
nice vid what action is the Primera? Is it similar to the Zero 7?
nice video lads,do you ever use rag lures??
Great vid bud and some beauties being caught. Does this area fish better low tide/high tide, nears or springs? Cheers bud.
