Andor Episode 11 sets up the season's endgame, with plenty of Easter Eggs and references to the Star Wars galaxy. In this video we break own all of the characters' parallel stories, the hidden characters, and the connections to OT characters like Luke Skywalker and Solo.

This episode set the stage for a final showdown on Ferrix where our key characters will finally gather in the same place for the first time since episode 3-and I think we’re about to see Cassian formally join Luthen’s cause, and the rebel alliance about to be formed.
One clue that this is happening soon is the score of the opening credits. We pointed out last week that more instruments are added with each episode. Last episode sounded like this [clip]. And this episode added more horns and strings. Horns are often a symbol that you’re being called to war. And adding so many new strings means you’re adding more seats to the orchestra-as these various rebel factions and cells begin to gel together into one cohesive unit.
First let’s talk about some of the recurring themes in the episode, and how the beginning and ending mirror each other so well.
The episode begins with Melshi and Cassian dangling, near death, trying to evadeImperial patrols. Melshi says [my hands don’t work] And the episode ends with the town of them going out into the world, to potentially face down those same Imperial controls. Melshi regions the episode on the brink of death, about to literally lose his grip. But the episode ends with those same hands gripping a blaster, and being field with resolve [someone has to tell them].
Once again the episode also intercuts between people who are trapped-but in this episode, people begin to find an escape. Andor and Melshi escape from Narkina. Luethen escapes the imperial control. Mon Mothma is about to escape her financial situation by betrothing her daughter to a gangster. Cyril is escaping the prison of his day job to hunt for Andor. Ad Bix may or may not be escaping her predicament by lying to the ISB.
As Cassian is near death, we see that his adopted mother Maarva has just succumbed to full-on death. And there is something else we see a lot of in this episode that’s been lacking-simple acts of kindness. The fishermen help Cassian and Melshi, and brasso is kind to B2.
Maarva’s death scene is presented from the POV of B2. originally we see him as a cold, unfeeling red eye. Of course this is similar to Hal-9000 from stanley kubrick’s 200 a space odyssey [clip, i can;t do that]. Hal was a computer designed to help the astronauts, who gradually became more concerned with his own well-being a survival. [being shut down, saying don't do that]. Now I don;t think B2 is going to start shoving people out of an airlock, but like Hal, he does have strong emotional desires.
[what about the droid]. As we see the world from his point of view, one of the women just refers to him as “a droid” and he starts shaking nervously, disrupting this cup. The cup is probably there because someone was using him as a table-an object. And he’s afraid he;ll be deactivated or alone without maarva. But Braaso doesn't treat him like an appliance, he treats him like a friend who just lost someone special [take her out, say goodbye]
And man, Star Wars has a weird relationship with droids. A few years ago the pop culture detective put out a video called the tragedy of doids where he pointed out that drones are second class citizens with emotions. Then again, Luke did tell us this kind of thing is unusual [never seen such devotion in a droid before. I have. [L3 form solo, how doest work…it works].
But all of this is just heartbreaking. B2 can;t even process Marvas death [I want Marva]. Aarva is taken out on an anti-grav sled, just like Ulaf was in the last episode. And think about the contrast between them. Maarva died with rebellion in her heart, she died in her home, which is all of these warm colors-and she’s attended to by her friends. Ulaf died in a cold, sterile place, where he was bagged and thrown out like garbage.

Surely the ship on the right hand view screen is a Nemoidian shuttle? It looks very much like Nute Gunray's ship from 'The Prequels'. Imagining it as "something-with-something-else-bolted-on" is more complex than necessary.

The tractor beam scene was also an analogy. Luthen needed to gauge how hard the tractor beam was pulling. He forced them to pull harder by making it look like he was trying to run away. When they tightened their pull, that’s when he sprung his trap and destroyed the tractor beam. That scene is basically the whole show in a nutshell.

I may be reading to much into this, but I find it interesting that "Andor" consistently codes Luthen with iconography traditionally given to a Sith: "Aldani" gives him a cheery, Senator Palpatine esque dual identity to contrast with the more somber Sideous-esque characterization we'd seen so far, "No Way Out" ends with a scene where he's dressed in black and flowing cape, and this episode gives his ship an accessory that essentially turns it into Darth Maul's double bladed lightsaber.

Luthens lasers are likely actual high beam lasers. Not the plasma weapons that the rest of the galaxy uses. Against anything larger it likely doesn't do much but against a small ship like a fighter with no shields like ties its probably devastating.
These are probably ancient or specialized tech probably not even a weapon but something more for say industrial use that's been weaponized. Your likely not going to see these on your traditional ships weapons systems. Its possible they could have been ancient sith or republic tech.
Yeah B2 will need to either talk to someone or either be memory wiped or something cause he fits the definition of clinically depressed.

Cassian didn't just give a blaster to Melshi, he gave the murder weapon from Ferrix to him. I feel like this is going to be very important in a future episode. If Melshi gets captured with that thing, they will connect him with Andor. After Kreegyr is fingered as Axis, that puts the whole thing to bed for the ISB, especially after Saw and Rael let Kreegyr burn to save the inside man. But then Daedra or Syril finds the blaster, knows what it is, and knows someone is still out there who is very close to Axis.
Thi could also be an example of Andor's survival reflexes kicking in: getting that blaster away from him and getting away from Melshi before he goes loud about the prison. It seems like the kind of thing that Cassian Andor would screw someone over about.

I bet the next episode will be more as "to be continued...."
      For the season 2

Andor is a mature sci fi/political thriller set in a growing dystopia. Mandalorian is a fun, upbeat sci fi/adventure serial set in a former dystopia. Both have the OT’s heart and tone despite all three being very different from one another. Both shows are great in their own realms.

@@bubbachomp4674 perfectly said. I see people choosing one or the other but both are great in their own ways. Star Wars In their own ways. It’s like a buffet and I want more!

I'm pretty sure Luthen was a Jedi and an ace pilot. When the guard is searching him before he meets with Saw, it looks like a double edged lightsaber....he also had lightsabers/lasers coming out the side of his ship which was awesome.

I thought he used that weapon earlier and it was a sword

@@Collect2Disconnect he may have but I missed it lol. I'll have to rewatch but in one episode he has a white walking stick but I think this is something different.... May be a sword

The ships infront of Saul´s hideout are defnetly X-wings, and not Z-95´s. they have 4 engines and not 2

15:25 Jedi mind tricks **within** Jedi mind tricks, without any apparent use of the Force; as Luthen bluffs Saw he draws Benthic / Two Tubes in close to take his pistol, reinforcing Saw's attention at gun point, Luthen further makes his case and wins his argument. Echoes Luke's telekinetic blaster grab in RotJ. Just. Genius.

No mention of Colin Cantwell?? What's up with that?? And the destroyer was even a Cantwell class ship. Colin Cantwell died this May. He isn't as well-known as Rqlph McQuerry, so I was super happy to see him get a name check here. Plus, it is totally fitting to use his designs here because his style harkens back to an earlier period of sci fi. It looks like the artwork on sci fi book covers from the late sixties. Fits well with the brutalist sixties architecture they are using for Curoscant.
