    Sure it costs money. But look at the versatility, the convenience, the ease of use! Thanks to it being showcased so well in this video, I will definitely be investing in that multi function marking gauge.

      ummone, only if the price of Siberian Larch has risen over 5x in the past decade. 2" thickness SL was about $4.20 per sq ft in 2006. (Couldn't find a current quote.) Estimated this is about a 10 ft diameter tub 5 ft tall gives it a lil over 500 sq ft before benches and such, including the cut offs. The machine costs much more than ~$1,100 of lumber.

    As a tool and die guy I'm a sucker for detail, demonstration and accessibility. This was a wonderful demonstration of an assortment of basic instruction, mild opinions leaving the stone to set itself, providing the raw elements we needed to know and WANTED to see, sure we can figure it out but boy is a well narrated idea alot easier to follow when you can pause and rewind. Well done sir.

    • @antmallett6065

    • @antmallett6065
      @antmallett6065 7 лет назад +9

      Bas It is DIY - for a wealthy weekend wood warrior who wants perfection. No good in a production environment, if it's all you have. You would tear your hair out, and sell it within a week.

    • @tdsviper
      @tdsviper 7 лет назад +34

      It depends on what your definition is of a DIYer. Spending $10000+ on a machine is not DIY in my book. Not to say i wouldn't buy one if i won the jackpot. But to me, a DIYer creates stuff while not spending a fortune on equipment.

  • @bannereddivpool
    @bannereddivpool 5 лет назад +2

    They target the DIY because it's a one man machine. You can do it all yourself which is fantastic. Felder makes some incredible things and if you're looking to setup a one man shop this is a fantastic setup. As a wood worker it would be awesome to have something like this. I have a ton of tools which could be consolidated in my workshop with a Felder combo. Accuracy is so darn important and sometimes that's all it takes to make or break a customer relationship.

    Beautiful hot tub.
    But I see a major flaw.
    A) where is the water filter?
    B) where is the drain plug?

      Hi,
      this hot tub was not equipped with a water filter and the drain plug is at the back of the hot tub.
      Kind regards from Austria

      Easy math, I'll buy my tub in the store instead.

    • @kennyb6541
      @kennyb6541 4 года назад

      Hot tub price = (modest) 10k. Materials for 10 = $3840 (per your price) 10 units sold = $100,000 - $3840 materials = $96160. $96160 - 65000 = $31,160 profit just 10 tubs later not to mention a paid for Felder to do a million other projects. Easy math @conan? Yes, I thought it was.

      @@kennyb6541 Actually you can get a cedar hot tub with fireplace for about $3500 delivered in north america. Easy choice.

    Expensive, yes! Worth it, ABSOLUTELY.
    DIY hmmm probably also yes since it is a combination machine and usually is better (and more expensive) to have separate machines for separate tasks.
    Btw you also need skill to be able to reproduce something like this hot tub. It's not all in the machine.
    Congrats to the woodworker Eli.
