Thank you for the info. Just happened to me today. Freakin alarms went off, lights blinking, cats and dogs sleeping together, it was crazy... LOL. Definitely looking forward to the videos on the big block truck
😂 i’m heading to work now and it’s happening to me. scaring the life out of me.
Thank you for saving me from a heart attack I replaced my sensor but was unaware of a stupid screen in there I got worried because after I replaced the sensor my pressure was still low thank you very much sir
Good Description! I had the exact same issue with my 08 Avalanche LTZ and it stopped doing it as soon as I changed the filter under the oil senser also, followed up with an oil change . these engines are sensitive!
At 1:45. Give this guy a Grammy! Most Mechanics will charge four hours or five of labor. Awesome dude! Thanks for your honesty and video.
I'm changing the sensor for the third time on my 2011 that has 350,000 Mi on it. Every time I do it I look your video up to remember what size socket I need. Thanks again.
Dude! You're a lifesaver! every winter, my 2011 fips out and screams low pressure, I knew it was something stupid, now i know how to fix it. THANK YOU!
Just started having this problem at 196, 000 miles. Thanks for the info. I feared the worst
We just purchased my son a 2010 silverado with 106 K miles on it. And I knew something was up because it was reading a little under 40 psi. So I googled it and your video was the first thing that I saw. I really appreciate you my guy. God bless you 🙏🏾
Did it fix it
This happened to me yesterday when I was driving home. Thanks for this info. Now I won't get screwed by my mechanic.
Keep being a good guy bro, thanks for your videos, you literally made it where I changed my own lifters, I tip my hat to you sir
Great info! Been getting low oil pressure around the time my oil needed changing. Didn't think it was a big deal. Then this time just recent completed an oil change and low oil pressure popped up. Got the screen out and was caked with gunk. Trucks around 150k I do my oil changes always on time. This just saved me lots of money! Thanks again!
Been chasing this problem for a few weeks new oil pump new oring on pickup tube still would be great at when first started then would loose it on gauge but all new part I know it has pressure will be doing this now thank you brotha.....
Second time this has happened to me in 4 years on my 2012 1500. Came back again for a refresher. Thanks!
Just did this today! Just a tip take the line off the manifold going to Brake booster! It makes it so much easier to get socket on, and you don’t need any swivels etc.... it will slide straight over sensor!
Awesome video! No bullshit, straight to the point and exactly what I think I have going on!
This video solved my problem and answered my questions. Quick and straight to the point . Thank you
Really helpful, thank you.
Thank you very much you have really helped me my truck same thing It is running just a little under 40 now
This was a stupid idea for Chevy to add this!! Thank you for video! Very straight forward!
Love the video!! We changed the oil pressure switch but did not remove the filter. Went back and removed the filter (Tossed that MF'er) and guess what!? 2007 Chevy Silverado running like champ!! Thanks man! You ROCK
Dude you made my day. Saved me time and cash. Just replaced mine 2 years ago but did not know about that little fucking filter. That’s all l did was toss that thing put the sensor back on a wala. 55 psi in place of 30/40. 164,000 miles on the 2007. Thank you brother
Great job! Thanks for showing video of how to get to the spot. Most people pull it out and say it’s to hard to show you where it’s at
Thanks. Ran into this alert today on a road trip. I’ll go check and see if this resolves the issue.
Good video! Straight to the point with no filler.
Had this happen today. Thank you, this was the problem.
Thanks bro saved me such a headache tonight 20 min job after seeing this.
I had my 2011in twice for this, one of the comments on the work order was the screen was plugged. Expensive lesson. I will no longer take it to the dealer for repair., my 2011 Silverado has 85,000 miles, always garaged.
Thank you! I this video was a great help in resolving this exact issue I had this morning on my 09 Silverado 1509 ext cab. My gauge went zero, then a few mins later 80, then 0, then after a few more minutes back to 80.
After replacing the oil sensor on my 2009 5.3 Chevy three times in the last two years, I again had the no oil pressure, low oil pressure and pressure jumping all over the place problem.
While purchasing another switch and filter, the local NAPA guy recommended the Valvoline hot oil engine flush. Well with over 200,000 miles on the engine I was skeptical.
However, I drained the oil, removed the filter, filled the crankcase with the engine flush and a cheap filter, and ran the engine for ten minutes. The cleaner goes in clear but came out like coffee.
Then drained the crankcase, new NAPA gold filter, 5W40 100% Synthetic, five ounces of Sea Foam and the oil pressure is great and stable. The oil is crystal clear and I have the new sensor and filter for future reference.
Good info!
I looked this up and cant find anything on this. What was the name of the product you used? Thanks.
Thank you very much. My freaking heart dropped when I saw this happening to me this morning.
nice vid man, Thankyou !now to find a way to get mechanic to not take off intake and do it this way.. (He mentioned The intake during my conversation)
THANK'S ALOT MAN, that tip worked out perfectly!! YOU DA MAN!!
❤❤❤❤❤ you are the man I can't believe this actually worked I change the oil pressure sending unit and it was dropping pressure saw this video went back in there and pull the screen out and it's fine now amazing thank you
Thank you sir, good explanation on where the sensor is located, I thought my engine was fried.
You’re a real one home boy. I like your style
Thanks alot! This was real helpful
Thanks man!!! I appreciate you taking the time to share
Thanks for the informative video. Question? Did you have to remove anything to access the unit?
So glad a friend of mine found this video after I’ve been struggling with this for months. I’ve got a 2008 Tahoe, 5.3 L, and same exact damn thing! I swapped the sensor myself not knowing there was a filter. Worked for about a day or so, then I took it to a auto shop, who told me about the filter and said they cleaned it. $400 later, and drove it 70 miles the damn oil pressure error came back on. Took it to another dealer who said these sensors are notorious. As in the whole lot of them are bad. But what you said, is perhaps great insight but just throwing away that’s stupid screen. How many have you done and just tossed the screen with no issues down the road?
If the light comes back on, you probably aren't doing proper oil changes, or just pop the sensor back out and run a cleaning rod from a fire arm cleaning kit👌
@@ronowen5747 hope your doing well just pulled a horribly blocked screen, just bought a new one. I am going to put a new one in but let's say I just threw it away and put sensor in without a screen. Whats the worst thing that can happen ruined sensor?
@@user-bo8dy8py3h worst case scenario your new oil pressure sensor will get clogged up and won't read, I've put a little more than a cap full of sea foam in my oil to beak the oil clog up
@@user-bo8dy8py3h Yes. BUT, I took the dumb little screen out of mine about 60K miles ago and no problems yet. They never put them in before... It's a BS part made to get vehicles into the dealers' shop.
What it can be if anyone has this issue is the o ring in the oil pump I’ve worked on multiple gms 5.3 worth changing at times you can change sensor multiple times only to end up at the bottom end changing out the o ring just fyi hope it helps someone out
Im gunna toast a cup of coffee to you in the morning over this video for the help!
I changed mine out a few years ago with the same size deep socket 2” extension with swivel and an angled ratchet. Good video.
Thank you bro i needed that💪💪😥
It's happening right now to my father's car, yukon denali. We changed the oil pressure sensor then the check engine came again. The oil pressure is normal about 50 kpa. I think we need to change the filter. Thanks a lot man.
I was going to replace the “filter” until I saw this video!!! Thanks
A few days ago I changed my oil filter on my 2004 Avalanche to the OEM recommended AC Delco and noticed a 20% increase. (I change my oil twice a year and have always used Fram) I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but the pressure was really low for the last couple of weeks and has never really gotten above 40 since I bought it 3 years ago. Now the pressure is between 40 and 50.
lezlethal- Fram oil filters are very restrictive. AC Delco or Wix is way to go for frees vehicles.
I’m going to do this thanks man
Thanks man lots of help
I have a 2004 Chevy 2500 Hd 6.0 and when I crank it up it sets just a little above 0 but if in motion it while pressing the gas it will set just below 20. When I stop a light it bottoms back out . I had it scanned at Orileys and nothing oil related but my dash it flashing low oil pressure. Do you think it’s the sensor or the pump
hi usually with the check engine light for the oil pressure switch come the red light for oil pressure too?
Thanks buddy, this is great
Thank you mine just happened today it's on 0 but I have full oil in my tank and no sound just to check engine light because the sensor came on is it okay still to run the truck?
thanks fixed my oil pressure issue ,
one of the better video thank
Excellent!!! Thanks dude 😎
Thanks for the info , it fixed my issue .
My 2008 oil pressure pegged at 0 for the third time in the past three years last week when we were on our way to the dealership to pick my wife's new Equinox. I thought I was getting trash switches - I popped it off, tossed the screen and put it back on. Good as new. Does that screen really have any impact on the VLOM/DOD as they claim? By the time oil makes it that far, it's already been filtered. I also have had the Range AFM disabler plugged in for a year, so I'm really not sure what to think.
Have you ever had any issues with removing the screens I removed mine runs way better oil pressure AFM deleted so I’m not to worried just wondering have you had any issues with removing it?
Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated
Thanks. I've been having all kinds of wierd things with this Chevy. My old Ford is unkillable though.
2001 Tahoe 5.3. Message CHECK ENG OIL PRESSURE. Changed oil and replaced oil sensor switch. I still have the issue...I have noticed that the gauge shoots up to 40 w no issues when the truck has been ran or its a hotter part of the day. Could I have an oil pump issue?
Yeah I did my oil pressure sensor about 6 months ago and now it's doing it again so I believe I got to replace the screen again but it's cheaper than a mechanic shop way cheaper
Screen and make sure you get OE sensor for best results.
Just watched your video..will the oil pressure sensor make the engine lose power and the gas pedal not work anymore?
I have an 05 Chevy Silverado z85, just changed the oil but used a filter I never have because of circumstances but drove it all day after. Jumped in it the next morning an my oil pressure started dropping. What could the issue be? Hopefully its what you showed in the video.
Awesome video. Worked for me. Quick question. My white retaining clip broke down the middle when I was trying to remove the cable. Do you think the connector will stay connected without it. Or do you know if I can order a new clip. Thank you for your video
As long has you hear the connected snap into place or tug on it and it seems firm it’ll be ok. I’ve had to leave them off before.
@@TheDieseldog great. Thanks again.
Thanks for the info, I thought I ran out of oil …. I will junk that little filter 😉
So I have a question Iv tried to pull out this screen for the oil sensor and I can't get it out iv tried a screw a screwdriver and I can screw the screw down a little bit just to ketch threads and it won't pull out do you think it even had one I had it replaced a year ago by a shop ad now I can't even see one but it feels like there's one by feel wyt thank you
I have a 2007 Silvarado Classic 1500 with the 4.8. My oil pressure gauge light is out and the dial is all the way to the bottom on the right side. I'm not getting an error code for it and the engine runs fine. Any ideas on what is wrong? Is it the sending unit or something else? Thanks.
Thank you!!!
Thanks a bunch man
Does the 07 Duramax LMM have this oil psi sensor screen?
Good video. So you don't need that little screen in there atall?
Good advise thanks well done
Thanks for the help
My 2007 Silverado has normal oil pressure at startup. The oil pressure gradually drops as engine temperature rises. By the time I get to normal engine temperature, the oil pressure drops to zero.
What do you think the issue is?
Few years back had a shop quote me $2,500 to replace that oil pressure sensor so I did it myself 100 bucks for the sensor and 20 bucks worth of sockets and Knuckles oh yeah and bruised Knuckles LOL thanks for this I just got the same error a couple years later
Can you drive with the sensor at 0 and check engine light on. I have plenty of oil and just had it turned up by GMC a month ago. I have a Sierra 2011? Thanks
3:56... . New subscriber brother brother...
Crazy thing happened to me on my LS swap. Had great oil pressure 40 and then it went to 20 down to 0. I changed the sender and no difference. I read some forums and decided to change the oil pump with no different result. I also read where some people changed the oil and filter and it fixed theirs. I should have done the cheapest easiest thing first. Oil and filter fixed the problem.
did you ever get a light? i have low oil pressure when its idling but stays at 20-25 then i rev and goes to 40 idling but goes back down when i take my foot off the pedal
@@jasesitl4837 yeah the light came on but like I said above after changing the oil and filter everything has been fine. Mine son also had the same issue on his swap. Hard to believe changing the oil fixed ours.
Would low oil pressure set off the cylinder deactivation system? Like it's usually between 20 and 40. Sometimes it'll jump past 40. Even with a fresh oil change. No oil light comes on, but it did set off my check engine light, causing it to go in 4 cylinder mode.
Can you drive with the sensor at 0 and check engine light on. I have plenty of oil and just had it turned up by GMC a month ago. I have a Sierra 2011?
Great video, thanks. Just wondering, could the same issue cause a high oil pressure?
Yeah I’ve seen them peg all the way to 80
Exactly. Thanks!
Good video too!!
Good bud. Thank you!!
Hey Bo thanks man you are the man LOL
What if you have 2014 Silverado 1500 with a V6 in it. Is it under the same location? Thanks
You the man
So if my CEL came on and display screen says stop engine. Would I do this or replace filter. Scared to start engine back up.
Replaced mine a few months ago and it started doing the same thing. Looks like it’s time to buy another one.
In ur experiences have u seen any 4.8s do this or is it just the 5.3s? I have a 4.8 and wondering if I need to look forward to this 152k on it
I have a 4.8 litre and it's doing it frequently now after warmed and at traffic signals. Replaced this oil pressure censor 3 times now. May try this. I have 240,000 miles now '06 silverado.
Hey, I was wondering if you could do a video on high oil pressure. I'm thinking about buying an '07 Silverado , however, the oil pressure was maxed out. It did not move, rather going fast, slow, at a stop, it just kept it's happy little over on the right like it was having a party and was not about to miss it. I would appreciate any advice or help you may have. Thanks
A faulty oil pressure sensor could cause this as well.
@@TheDieseldog Thanks for answering. I'm hoping that's all it is and nothing major.
Good video.
3:49 some people clean these with Brake Clean... But what I do.. AWSOME!
Will this cause high oil pressure too? Just happened to me this morning
Part number for the screen? Or both? Great video straight forward no bs
I have a 4.8 do you need a special socket
I'm having this problem with a 2002 5.3L on my 3rd sensor all the things I read are On 2003 and newer does the 2002 and under have the same screen? I fished around in there with a pick and I I guess I didn't see or find anything and still having oil pressure sensor issues?
Hey dieseldawg..do ya know if it will correct the lifter ticking..
Rick Brown lifter Tick is pretty standard in the 5.3’s
Does a 2005 Avalanche 1500 5.3 engine have one of the oil sensor switch screen/filter? Thank you, Bob
No screen.
I can’t seem to find this strainer/filter thing anywhere for my 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L have checked at few different auto part stores and nothing like this shows up in their system?? Any suggestions? Maybe this year didn’t have them?
This year would have it. It might come with the sensor depending on where you get it. Or check with the dealer. I just leave it out when I replace the sensor, so I’ve never had to hunt one down.
A after market sensor comes with the screen. Check O’Rileys auto parts. It about $45
Thanks man. I just got the check engine light and have no oil pressure. Hope it does the trick!
Did this fix it?
