Great time of year to be visiting. Your second bear guess was right - black bear even though brownish color, definitely not grizzlies. The fishing fly is a beadhead woolly bugger. The cutt was a Yellowstone cutthroat so yeah, good guess! - it has spots below the lateral line. Westslope cutts lack spots below that line. The fossil in the rock is a crinoid stem. Haha, jeez, Ned the know it all, Lol

Sorry guys but I have to disagree, that bear had a hump on its front shoulders. No hump black bear, no matter the color, but hump equals grizzly. But black bears do come in black, brown, cinnamon, and blonde.

Ever try any balanced flies? They're designed to sit horizontally when suspended under an indicator, and they undulate a bit more when retrieved. The balanced bruiser leech (red head, black body, blue flash...the olive bodied variation is killer when black isn't the play) is one of my absolute favorite flies to throw, especially as a searching pattern on new water. I prefer to throw them naked with a nymph or scud dropper...something to try, maybe, when you've got your fly rod on you.
Love the videos, the passion and respect you show for nature is endearing.

Yes please a Yellowstone fishing video! I believe that was a beautiful westslope cutt.. I could be wrong. Also I believe you were correct in the bears being brown colored black bears.. cool footage. The fossils in the rock could possibly be from lake Bonneville a huge ancient lake which created much of the snake river valley. It's pretty awesome history. I'm originally from Boise. On your trip the craters of the moon may be worth a stop. Lava tubes and crazy landscape of hardened lava in the middle of the desert/mountains. If you go I 84 a must stop (in my opinion) is Shoshone Falls in Twin falls Idaho which are taller than Niagra falls. My fam and I are going to Yellowstone and the grand tetons (which is close to Yellowstone) in July. Can't wait!

Those were black bears with a cinnamon coat. The dead giveaway is the long snout and their claws curl downward, whereas a grizzlies claws are long and straight. Grizzlies also have short snouts with long straight claws. Love your videos! Excellent footage!

Visited Yellowstone right after labor day. Stayed at Flag Ranch campground . I actually accidentally snuck into the park through a 3 & a 1/2 hr. 40 minutes North of Idaho Falls Idaho. Yellowstone, Snake River, O' Faithful, the grand canyon of the Yellowstone, Tower falls , Yellowstone cutthroats ! It was amazing, I plan on getting back up there again next year. The fly fishing was phenomenal !!?

I worked in Yellowstone for a summer. What an experience! If you go back you should see about taking a boat into Shoshone Lake from Lewis Lake and camping. That’s a trip I’ve always wanted to make. And wow what a beautiful video this was! 👍
