This transformation just deeply touched my heart! I could see how much you and your wife must truly love each other with every careful attention to detail you did, and with her complete trust in you. I was already loving this video from the Get-Go (and of course, Daisy!) but I was not prepared for the final result! Even tho it’s mainly MDF- this desk is fit for royalty! As I’m certain Emma well deserves! Absolutely gorgeous! 👏👍🌟🤘💖

I have to say, I was more than a bit skeptical until I saw how that blue made the wood on the drawers absolutely GLOW -- they look positively lit from within! And the copper touches against the blue ... one of my very favorite combinations. Absolutely lovely.

That's the first time I've ever seen leather refinished on a piece. The dye process was very interesting. Thanks, David, for sharing your present to Emma. She must be thrilled with it.

I am gobsmacked at your superb transformation. It looks so beautiful and you certainly wouldn’t guess it was mostly MDF/Chipboard. You have put such a lot of care and attention into this desk and I am sure your wife is thrilled with it! Can’t wait for the next restoration!

I was skeptical when you were painting the desk. I'm a firm believer in natural wood finishes but, I think you may have changed my mind. That was the most stunning refurbishing on an old desk that I've seen to date. Bravo and brilliantly done. I hope your lovely wife enjoys it! New ideas for my old desk...thank you.

I didn't know a redyed leather top would look this great... I always learn something new & helpful in your vlogs. In the 80’s the height of fashion my mum had pieces like this. It looks fabulous in its new guise. Furniture is still made in these styles but is mostly sprayed in a uniform colour.

That blue with the wood is stunning. I personally love a bit of painted wood (or in this case, MDF) when it's appropriate - it means I can move furniture around the house and give it a new life when I want a change. And if I want it wood again I can strip it off. It means I very rarely buy new furniture but my house changes to suit me. If it keeps furniture out of landfill then I say go for it.
Thanks very much Sue, thats my exact same philosophy. I'll do whatever I can to stop these old pieces of furniture being dumped. Some people don't like paint and thats ok. Life would be boring if we were all the same 😃😃❤️

Absolutely stunning. As I was looking at the final reveal I found myself shaking my head and saying to myself, “Perfect.” I love love love that blue and all the contrasts in colors and textures. Hi David firstly my apologies for the very late watch been up to my eyes in paperwork (with a deadline) and couldn't get out to watch anything (still have more to do but a break was desperately needed)
I made the mistake of reading the comments which I really should know better than to do but I did 🤦. Those whining about 'painting wood' obviously were not paying close attention to your VERY thorough explanation of it being MDF 🙄🤦
I am positive that Emma loved it because any woman would love something that had such care and attention to detail totally tailored to their likes. I saw the love shining out of every particle.

My dad was sometimes bad about doing things for other people to the detriment of our house. Mom always said the best way to get him to do something for her was to start doing it herself. This is a beautiful piece and obviously a labor of love.

Leather can be sanded down with 120 grit. Then apply Acetone to clean the surface and remove dye to the leather. Then you could apply leather dye and leather conditioner to give it a vibrant look.

I think this turned out brilliantly! The copper/walnut/blue are beautifully harmonious together and I like the solution for that bit of added height. Haters gonna hate, but this is a great looking functional piece.
