Really appreciate the video review. I have never flown a drone before, so I wanted one that was simple to use and also had some nice features problem was I did not have any idea what drone to choose . So before I made the commitment to buy a drone, my son suggested I watched some of your video reviews on different drones. really helpful and informative and simple to watch and understand Thanks ! I decided to buy the JJRC X 11 from geek buyers it arrived 2 days ago and I have had it in the air twice first following your instructions as a guide to take off and land and the return to home , point of interest etc Today I took it out for a 20 minute flight down along the lake shore and took some nice pictures and a short video as well .. Next thing is to learn how to use the "way points" feature. Cheers from Down Under..
Once again great video thanks. We love watching how you dramatically explain things ! We are looking at some other drones and would like your advise on the JJRC X21 . You are the wind.
Good evening! I recently purchased a JJR/C X-11 and flew it a few times without issue. Tonight I was home on my farm and took off from my deck. At about a 1/4 mile out I began my turn to come back to the house. It lost video and connection and proceeded to go off in some direction never to be seen again. I’m new to the sport, so not sure if I did something wrong but sure didn’t expect to loose video feed and connection just short of 400 meters. 🤷🏻♂️
If you lose video feed it goes into return to home mode, so it will rise straight up then return... that is of course as long as you don't push buttons on the remote control.
UPDATE: I found the drone, seemingly unharmed. Going to test it again, albeit in incremental distances with the limits set. Like it otherwise just wasn’t expecting it to loose connection 400+/- meters out over an open field. Regardless, thank you for your response CD. I enjoy watching your reviews.
Hi Cap, I really liked the fact that you were reviewing on a breezy day ! Living near the coast in Europe I get quite a few days like that. I imagine that the weight of the drone combined with the strong motors keep it steady in the breeze; decided to get this as my first drone :-) Thanks again for the thorough and very informative review. Kind regards, Paul
CAPTAIN DRONE, First, let me thank you for all the time that you spend reviewing these drones. I know that you enjoy doing what you do, but still, without you I'd still be a non-drone owner. I have watched reviews on drones from others, and they just don't seem to be at the level that your reviews are. Simply put, yours are straight forward, and you answer most of the questions a non drone owner would have. The first video I watched of yours was "The best low cost drones for beginners" part 1, then part two. Based on those two videos, I watched your full review on each one, and based on your videos and reviews, I made my choice. It was the JJRC X11. The drone was just delivered to me yesterday, and I already love it so far. Yes, I crashed it twice, due to how sensitive the controls are, and the fact that if the drone is facing me, the controls are reversed. LOL This may sound silly to you, but to me, it's something I'll have to get use to. The first time I saw that it was going to crash, I freaked and tried to grab it before it ran into the counter, Bad mistake. LOL So now I have battle wounds on my right hand. Lesson learned. Inside was probably not the best place to fly my first drone, but all in all, it went well. Looking forward to taking it outside to where I have room to makes a few mistakes while I learn to fly it. I do have one question though, and I hope you can answer it, or if anyone else can answer it that would be great. The controller, when I turn it on, and while it's talking to the drone, there is a symbol that flashes in the upper left hand corner of the screen, almost looks like a snowflake. What does that mean? The manual does not cover that symbol at all. It only flashes a few times, then goes away. At first I thought it was because it was snowing outside. LOL Any thougts? Furthermore, can you fly this thing if it's lightly snowing or raining? I know I've seen you reviews when there was snow or rain around. Thanks for everything. When it comes time to upgrade to a better drone, (once I'm ready), I will look to your reviews for my next purchase. You are simply AWESOME! Thanks again!
Glad you are enjoying the drone. If you crash indoors you may nick the props which will affect your video footage outdoors (may get some Jello). If you do, then change the props. As for the snowflake... to be honest I can't recall.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I have looked online, still no answers about the snowflake symbol. LOL Yes, the props now have nicks in them, some from my hands. LOL The thing still flies great though. I ordered and extra set of blades on top of the set they send you, but I will wait until I get better at flying it before I replace the first set. Unless it affects the fly. Thanks again for everything!
@@Yoda1268 In previous models it meant HEADLESS mode & then other models it meant GPS. I have seen in some manuals of some drones since that controller is used for many drones, but I just can't recall what it was for in this model.
I got my wife a jjrc x11 she loves it. We were out flying and I think she bumped the GPS switch and took it out of GPS mode. She couldn't stop it from flying away and it ended up in a tree about 40 feet up. Got it down but it hit what seemed like every branch on the way down. No real damage changed props it still flies but wonders around basically is there any way to send it to get looked at or fixed? Got her mini 2 and she loves it. If you can help thanks and keep up the great work 👍
Cap'n - you're getting rather good at manual low level drone flying - maybe there's a RUclips video tutorial in there somewhere about how to master that skill? (Transmitter sticks input shot vs drone reaction flying shot - in split screen?) In any case, another great review of a cool, if not slightly larger drone - enjoyed watching. You always comes across as having fun on the reviews, with a little humour - hey, that's what the hobby's all about Cap'n - 10/10! 😍😍👍👍
I like this Drone. After watching a lot of reviews I took a WAG and ordered the JJRC X11. I'm glad I did. I've flown it twice at -4.5C at 1.6km altitude (Montana) and It handled the cold better than I. Just getting the feel of it, I haven't used any special features yet. It feels like a weapons grade drone. It has the mass and the power to be stable and fast. Videos give a sense of flying and are stable in slow speed or hover shots. Props in shots straight ahead go away when camera tilted down might be a drawback for some. Hoping to do some ski area videos in a week or so . This is my fourth model drone and real flyer for the price.
First weird lesson, my friend and I go flying together since we got out first drones 2 months ago. We've had our out of control issues that we tried to explain with several erroneous conjectures. It turns out that when I fly my drones at the same time as my friend is flying his, weird stuff happens including crashes. When my X11 went into 'low battery mode' and I was trying to keep it in the air my buddy's Hubsan 501 tried to take off while he was calibrating it. He saved his drone but lost a little blood. I never saw a caution about this on any review.
There are things I learned with this drone that probably everybody knows but me. First is make sure you use an SD card that has enough write speed to work the camera. Use at least a U3/v30 SD. A U1/V10 will not work. If you cannot get the flashing camera in the display when you try to use video, check your SD card.
Hello, Thanks for the reviews. If you would have to choose between this X11 and X13 that i have also seen the review, what are you going to choose? The camera seems to be better on X13 from what i could observer (FPS / overall quality). Thank you! Silviu
Great video. I'm new to flying drones, so wanted one that I can learn with. Watched this and the Bugs 4W video, decided to buy this drone. Wasn't disappointed. Really easy to fly, very responsive, and does a lot for the money. Learned a lot about the drone from your videos before the X11 arrived. So, bought it on your recommendation, thank you!
I wonder who the original manufacturer is? I do love your reviews, very professional, your voice is easily understandable (no wind noise), and just the way a review should be.
Thanks for your reviews on this and the bugs 4w. I settled on the bugs version, and I wouldn't have even known about it, if it wasn't for your channel. I'm excited to start flying drones. Now to find a place to get spare parts for the b4w..
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I just had my first GPS flight. I'm in love... I know a lot of people have nicer drones and might think this one is a toy. But my gosh, for a first drone. Holy hell it's a blast.
Thanks Capt . for a great review , I'm new to drones and this x11 will be my 2nd drone to my collection. You reviewed the Holy Stone hs700d and I bought it also..still learning ..love your videos
Thinking of getting a drone like this but still not sure what too choose. One with better camera or one with better flight ability. Or is there another choice wich has both and falls in this price range
In the price range there is this and the BUGS 4W. You can spend more and move up to the F11 Pro or Heron X9 but you're really not getting much difference. You'd have to jump to a DJI SPARK or HUBSAN ZINO to make a giant leap in video/photo quality.
Captain drone....I brought this as my first drone; after watching this review....all I can say is thank you for your info; yes it’s lacking in certain things/elements; but for a first time flyer it’s super cool!i feel like I’ve put the key in the lock and it’s opened into a super cool world! Again thank you for being honest!!! I’m currently saving up for a Mavic air 2!!! Thank you again for being brutally honest!!
Great review as always mate..Such a cool looking and great flying drone, it’s just such a huge shame and disappointment they they never put a better 1080p camera and lens on it, rather then just sticking a poor 20fps so called 2k camera on there lol.. still a great drone for people who think more about just flying rather then flying to try and get good video footage..
Thanks for reviewing this one. Obviously, as suspected it is just a re-cased Bugs 4W, with all the issues that one has regarding the image stabilization. It's too bad too because this otherwise is a really nice drone. Great range, great flight time, quality build design, etc. They just totally "dropped the ball" when it came to the camera. I get that they have to cut corners someplace to keep the costs down, but really, ALL photo-oriented drones should have image stabilization of some kind. If not physical, then electronic. Perhaps a future update can give us this by reducing the recording size to 1080 FHD and using the extra resolution of the 2k camera to keep the image stable. not sure that's possible, but if it is it would be a smart improvement. For myself, I think I'm going to have to look at something a bit pricier like the Hubsan Zino for my needs. I'm just not willing to give up that image stabilization.
Weary Man You’re absolutely right, MJX ( and all the other versions with the same dna ) in my opinion have missed a trick here, the way forward from the Bugs series was adding a gimbal, maybe even 2 axis with electronic stabilisation, but no, they seem to have left it to Xiaomi and. Hubsan to steal the show. I have several bugs and 501’s and get far better results than the reviewed quad here shown with foam and a decent action camera ( Xiaomi 4K ) lashed on.
@@richardhalliday159 What is really strange is that JJRC JUST came out with the X9 Heron (DJI Spark clone) this past Christmas. So we know that can build an inexpensive drone with all the bells and whistles including image stabilization and good video quality. But then they come out with this one, which is just flat missing the critical image stabilization feature. The only thing I can think is that they were offered a cheap contract by the manufacturing plant to make a custom version for them, just like the Bugs and Eachine versions of this and they decided "why not"?
Weary Man Absolutely, I think it is pretty obvious that these companies do not listen to customer feedback ( I have written to several and not received an acknowledgment) and are just content with badge engineering to bring in the profits, it’s the same obsession with 5g WiFi, I find it comical that all these Chinese manufactured folding clones now use the cheap to make 5g transmission but the cheap Chinese smart phones do not support 5g !. Ideally you need 5.8 g , otherwise you’re buggered if you want to use goggles, a monitor or a decent recording. I think you and I should be sat at the table on the next MJX Monday morning product meeting ! ( The Fimi A3 is pretty good by the way) Richard 🇬🇧
EXACTLY...if the $99 Tello can have Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) why can't these more expensive drones offer it. And EIS is all done via software (vs Optical Image Stabilization) so it won't add a lot to the cost of these drones. If I were looking to buy a lower end drone less than $500 I'd chose from the following (lowest price to higher price): For 1080P video: 1 - JJRC Heron X9 ($169 on sale) or C-fly Dream ($239-ish) - both of these drones have a 2-axis gimbal 1080p but they can have some jello, 12-14min flight time 2 - Fimi A3 ($299 but on sale now for $229) - 2 axis gimbal 1080p (I believe EIS in 3rd axis), very smooth "professional-like" video. Highly recommend! 3 - DJI spark ($399) - 2 axis gimbal 1080p, EIS in third axis, very smooth "professional like video", intelligent flight modes, 12-14 min actual flight time. For 4K video: 3 Hubsan Zino ($349 but can be gotten on sale for $260-ish price range). 3-axis gimbal, excellent "professional 4K video, but controller sticks are mushy and drone is "drifty" (no optical flow or sonic sensors on bottom), 16-18 min flight time 4 Fimi X8 ($499 but you can find this on sale for $399) 3-axis gimbal, long "actual flight time" of 25+ minutes, awesome professional quality 4K video. Lots of intelligent flight modes. And a rock solid flyer (solid GPS complimented with Optical Flow and sonic sensors). To me the FIMI X8 is the best value if you can catch it on sale. Excellent controller. Obviously just my opinion based on lots of research. If you've got a little more money to spend $699 ($590 refurbed on Amazon) I think the Parrot Anafi is the best value: 4K video, 21MP camera on a 2-axis 180 degree gimbal (3rd axis is via EIS...but you'd think it was 3-axis by how it performs), 2.8X/1.4X Lossless Digital zoom, 20 - 23 min actual flight time, fantastic intelligent flight modes and one of the QUIETEST drones on the market. Excellent software! I bought both the Mavic Air and the Parrot Anafi and the Parrot Anafi is the winner for me. Others may disagree but for the money the Anafi offers the best overall value.
Jet Martin I have the Fimi A3 ( managed to get it with a coupon for £200 -$250 US) for the money it cannot be beaten, last year gps and brushless were the biggest mass market introduction ( albeit MJX dna ) I predict in the next 12 months we will see more gimbals and steadier video introduced although I bet they stick with 5g and its follow me circling gimmicks. Personally I’m on with building a F450 based quad to my own spec, money isn’t an issue, I don’t want a mavic etc, I have 7 bugs in various versions and love chucking them about, I can’t fault your selection, spot on, but out of your list I would choose the Parott, but as I say ,for cheap decent video the A3 , I haven’t got the x8 so don’t know.
Love your videos! Thank you very much! I need your professional expertise. I have a Promark P70VR. The lights are flashing fast. I have tried to reset and re-bind it, replaced batteries on both the remote and drone but to no avail. What else can I do? HELP!
All I watch is your channel, i started from syma x5, now I have beast, soon il be ready for DJI , cost is something I had to do, so I trained on toys for long time no sensors, now it's time for something serious for next year.... Keep on its one of best things on world now...
Great review. I had an Eachine E511S drone that was fun to fly. It had very similar features to this one and I decided to go ahead and get one of these instead just for the fact that it looks a little more professional looking than the E511S. Thanks for sharing.
People who buy drones that don't have at least a 2-axis gimbal + EIS or a 3 axis gimbal will be very disappointed in drones like this if they are hoping to get "smooth" video. It's just not going to happen.
These sub-$200 brushless camera drones seem like the perfect candidates for IMU-augmented EIS, such as we see with 'FlowState' EIS on the Insta360 cam. As I understand it, there's no significant processing overhead because it's simply adding a few bytes of metadata to each frame. The playback software does all the heavy-lifting while reducing the native 2k (2048x1152) video to a semi-smooth 1080p (1920x1080) or buttery-smooth 720p (1280x720). Combine that with a 1-axis motorized gimbal and the refinement of the F11 (B4W) and you've got a killer drone that will fly off shelves for under $200 USD. Otherwise, there's just no compelling reason to buy a 250g+ camera drone when you can get essentially the same video results in light winds from a SJRC Z5 or Ryze Tello.
@@wingsfromheaven8788 I agree these drones need some form of EIS to be at all useful for videography...I'm just not sure that a 1 axis gimbal will be enough to make it smooth. Also keep in mind that there are already drones out there that have 2-axis gimbals and can be had for less than $200 on sale (e.g., JJRC X9 Heron was recently on sale for $169)
@@jetmartin9501 Very good points. And I'm aware of the Heron and Dream, as well as the A3. The Heron and Dream lack refinement, but they're certainly worth $169. And that begs the question why anyone would consider the X11 or B4W nowadays...? But my point is that IMU-augmented EIS is at least as good as a 2-axis gimbal. I've been flying an Insta360 OneX strapped under my X8SE the last few days, and the FlowState EIS is just unbelievable. The only limitation relative to a mechanical gimbal seems to be blurring in low-light due to reduced shutter speeds, and reduced output resolution (just like any EIS). Maybe I overstated the price-point at sub-$200 but IMU-based EIS certainly makes the most sense in sub-$170 camera drones where multi-axis mechanical gimbals just aren't economically feasible. I'm simply trying to get the word out, now that we know how FlowState EIS is implemented. It's so simple and inexpensive compared to a multi-axis mechanical gimbal in a low-cost camera drone. We will always need a 1-axis gimbal as a minimum for proper shot composition. And a 1-axis gimbal could still provide some degree of stabilization in the vertical axis as necessary during fast starts and heavy braking.
@@wingsfromheaven8788 I'm certainly no expert in EIS...all I know is that EIS can yield some pretty amazing results...take a look at the video footage from a Bebop 2...you'd think it had a 3 axis gimbal....and as far as I know it has a fixed camera...you can even face the camera down....which is amazing. Much like 2019 has been the year of widespread adoption of foldable brushless drones I think 2020 could be the year that EIS becomes broadly implemented....but we shall see. Without some form of EIS or multi-axis gimbals I personally don't see the utility of the F11 & Bugs 4W type of drones other than as fun stable flyers....and hence why I suggest that people look at the JJRC X9 or Fimi A3 drones if they want video from a low cost drone. BTW, here is a paper that describes the use of IMU based EIS stabilization. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6111248/
Thanks. Nice review. To the point and not too long, which I really like. I dislike the reviews that go on forever and give out less info than you have done here. I ordered one yesterday and got it for $37.00 less than the cheapest price I could find for the Bugs 4W.
Hi Captain. I just order the jjrc x11 drone I live in Canada as well. What app do you use ? People are saying the app does not work the one that comes in the box. They tried other ones and follow me,way points and map dosent work. Also camera freezes and app shuts down constantly. Your help is much appriciated.
I'm experiencing the same problem with the follow me and way point feature. Once I activate follow me, the drone will turn to it's right and nothing more. I hear you can use the bugs app so I might try that.
Very good review, you covered all the bases. I have a Potensic D88, it looks idéntical , I dont know who copied who, but I am going to return it and buy this one instead, the potensic does not have range, at 210 metters it lost signal and I got no camera view, I hit the return home and didnt respond so I crashed it. I will buy this one for sure. Thanks for video!!!
I finally got my x11! Pretty excited to take it out, I charged the batteries, put new batteries in the remote, followed the manual, but i couldn't get the drone and remote to connect to each other, took several attempts before i had a connection and any satellite info, i had as many as 14 and as few as 7, i installed the jjrc x app, and there i can not get the drone to connect to the app, i actually get the camera view on my phone screen, but none of the functions work. I keep getting a message about root access?? If I bypass that, again, the phone screen shows what the camera sees, but no other functions will work. I tried auto take off, that works, drone goes up about 5 feet and tries to hover, but when I try to land using the same button I pushed to take off the drone will go off on its own without landing. I have crashed it 5 times in 5 flights, if you can call auto take off and auto land a flight! Any ideas or suggestions on what i may be doing wrong. I will say the drone is tough considering what its hit so far!! I do need to install the new propellers that came with it, but I wanted to make sure I can control it correctly before I do that. Thanks for the videos, they are helpful.
Nice video. I noticed this drone is hard to find to purchase. Really haven’t seen anything on Amazon and prices when I do find them very all over the place. Do you know if this is still in production?
It is an old video and the F11 has gone through many versions since this one. I believe the F11 is still for sale as an F11S or F11 Pro or something like that.
What's the issue with the app? I can't get it to work.It say I'm sorry, the program is abnormal and is going to quit. A lot of people are saying the same thing. Anyone have any advice?
I have not heard of people having problems with the App. But if you and others are having problems it is due to your phone. Something in your phone is stopping the app from accessing certain functions.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yeah go to the play store and see the app has a horrible rating. Was hoping not to have these issues. I'll have to see if I can figure it out. Thanks for the reply. Don't get that very often.
The unfortunate thing is that if you check most apps on the Playstore which are used for drones, they all have a terrible rating because the only people that rate them are pretty much the ones who encounter problems.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 It's funny the app doesn't work on my newer phone but works on a older Samsung tablet. Any advice were to go for help with the phone?
Hey guys, so I got this one delivered the other day. Haven't flown it for real yet but quick question A) the drone hooks up to the phone app via Wifi fine...so the APP does NOT connect to the controller then? B) I get some GPS satellites on my controller indoors when I turned it on but the App (JJRC X) does not show GPS satellites or the (I wanna say it was the aircraft battery strength or controller strength symbol...is this because I need to fly outdoors and actually have the drone flying first?
You know what...I just realized I had gps turned off on my controller (cause testing indoors) so that's why I probably couldn't see satellites on my app which is connected to the drone itself.
My won't fallow me, when I press ok it turns away and just stays there and won't react to anything I do until I press cancel and fly it manually again. But Def won't follow me. Got any ideas why?
@@tomsbudgetbuildsrctbbrc9388 I’m not from the USA, but I’m pretty certain that in the USA if a drone, helicopter or plane is 250 grams or over that weight, you need some form of certification to fly a remotely controlled unmanned aircraft.
@@tomsbudgetbuildsrctbbrc9388 Ok, please step away from the drugs…. Silly man, you used the term FAA, and you’re in Canada? That is just weird. In Canada it is TRANSPORT CANADA, and the same rules apply.
I have a question about battery safety that I hope someone can answer. How do you discharge a fully charged battery to storage charge voltage for long term storage? Is using the battery in the drone to 50% the only way? If so, would the battery have a balanced charge in the cells? I am not sure how it works with the modular battery the X11 uses. Thanks.
Almost all drones that are camera drones come with a charger. The charger is the lowest cost portion of the package and therefore pretty much useless, other than being able to charge the battery. This means that for most drone owners, they either have a drone with a smart battery (self discharges) or they discharge the battery themselves by leaving it in the drone, firing up the motors and draining it to 40%.
Hey, I actually just picked this up a couple of weeks ago after checking out your video on it, It's a great drone and i'm impressed by the quality of it for the Price, The only odd thing I found about it is where it saves recordings, I can't seem to figure out why it only seems to save to the SD card on the initial recording, and all subsequent recordings are saved locally on the phone, It seems hit and miss, This something anyone else has been experiencing? or is there something i'm missing with recording with this specific drone. Thanks for the review by the way!
Sounds like a micro SD issues. If you are using a CLASS 10 card that is 16 Gigs or less, and formatted correctly then it will work. Anything larger will give problems.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Hey thanks for the tip! That was totally the issue! Just picked up a cheap class 10 16gb card and it recorded without a hitch without failing, Appreciate the help! Thank you! I was using a 32Ggb UHS1 sd card and I guess the drone is just a little picky about what's in there.
Any idea why my X11's wifi cuts out at about 130m? Not occluded at all. And also when I hit follow me mode it says "time out" and doesn't work? Any help is appreciated. I love your videos!!
Both issues are phone problems. Take the cover off your phone for more range. Also, sounds like the App is not allowed to access all the services of your phone.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for replying. My phone cover is off, it won't fit into the transmitter with it on. And the app has all permissions except making calls.
It turns out that when I try to modify the height, distance and flight radius settings, as well as give orders follow me, orbit a point or follow a given route, always, always send me the same message "timeout setting". And it does nothing, neither follows orders nor saves changes to the settings. Could you tell me what it can be? thank you.
OK Captain Drone, as a hiker/backpacker size, weight mean the most to me. I've watched your review of the jjrc x9 heron and it looks pretty good. Do you still recommend this for a beginner?
Do you know if this drone will work on 802.11a/b/g/n? Or does it require 802.11ac? The "n" is supposed to support 5G wifi, but does it really? Thanks! Great review!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That's what I thought until I read this: (sorry, I can't seem to make this a link)www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2014/12/30/802-11ac-vs-802-11n-wifi-whats-the-difference/#760a55c23957. Now I'm really confused, but this says the "n" will handle the 5ghz......I think......Maybe.....Or not.
Just means that 802.11ac is backwards compatible with 802.11ac which means if all you had was 802.11ac and the drone was 802.11 whatever, then you would still be compatible. However, it is the opposite here... you don't appear to have 802.11ac, so you can only connect with the same or earlier standards. All that to say, you need 802.11ac (that is my understanding). Clear as mud?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Well fine. I really wanted to do this without a new phone. But, yes, I think I now understand. Thanks!!! Before I retired, I used to hit things with a hammer professionally....so maybe you can understand why modern technology is so hard for me to grasp.
@@jimkyle2466 Ha ha, there are plenty of people in the same boat. If you go the route of a DJI or AUTEL or YUNECC or PARROT drone, then your phone is connected to the controller via a USB cable and does not bother with 802.11ac, so you'd need no new phone.
Have you ever tested a potensic (?) drone? And also the Holystone drones? I'm very interested, but don't need the circle photo, or the waypoint. All the other bells and whistles...Sure! Distance looks real good for sure on this one.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 okay. I'll try to find your reviews. Still up in the air for which one I should get. If I give you an idea of what I want, could you throw a couple of names my way? I just got rid of a SharkSpark Beetle. For some reason it would fly a few seconds and drop to the ground only a few feet away from me. Don't know why... Distance was maybe 200' at the max..
Yes, but I have never tried any. Do a RUclips search for WiFi repeaters and drones. Also, if you have a case on your phone, remove it for increased range.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you, I always take my cover off and cant seem to get past the 80m fpv range, gps range is fine but just the fpv range is crap. I have seen drones with wifi repeaters and such but not with the bugs and jjrc. sorry for asking this but if you have time could you test it please and see if it works.
Hey Capn I'm having trouble connecting my phone to my drone. It worked the first couple times and now it wont connect.Drone synchronized to controller, wifi connected to drone, load jjrc, press ok and click. I get the screen but keeps saying device not connected. Any ideas? Thanks
Since you can connect your phone to the drone, it should work. My only guess is that something is up with the camera or the app on your phone has an issue (you could always try deleting it and reinstalling it).
If you want smooth video choose the X9...Any drone that doesn't have at least a 2-axis gimbal and EIS in the third axis gimbal is NOT going to get you smooth video. The video is going to be "unusuable" for much of anything without that. Smooth video TRUMPS higher resolution all day long in my book. I would choose a drone with 1080p and 2-axis/3-axis gimbal/EIS over a 4K drone that has no 2-axis/3-axis gimbal. Just compare the video from F11 and the X9 and your decision will be easy in terms of video capability (ruclips.net/video/Mjh7CXLjuZQ/видео.html )
Well as I have had the drone for about 2 weeks now I suggest you don't mess around with the follow me because it isnt very "stable"(the drone might flight away)And don't fly too far...I flew mine like 700meters and it worked perfectly but don't risk it cause if you forget GPS to turn on then you are screwed
@@chemistryenjoyer53 Thanks good to know, so I need to set my home point, GPS should always be on, and I should make sure it's not too far or it will be near some interference basically?
@@MattRomero well if you fly it let's say in your back yard of on the street you shouldn't go further than 250meters because of the strong interferences from everything (all the WiFi routers in homes, mobile phones, antennas etc). And yes I suggest you always do the compass calibration before each flight(doesn't take long),because that way the GPS is always perfect.Oh and also if it loses signal from your controller and the drone enters RTH don't press anything!!(if you manually press RTH then it will cancel the automatic RTH).Just wait like a few seconds and look on your phone if the drone is in RTH.
Is the x11 better than the f11? I thinking of buying the f11(ruko branded f11, but its the same one) just wondering what im missing buyi g the f over the x. Thanks!
hello sir, i have one question. i am considering to buy JJRC x11 or Bugs 4W. i undersstand that they are identical, but in terms of my final decision i have this question: which manufacturer has bettrer firmware/software (app) care of their products? this matters to me, because of camera that is good, but it could be better just by few fixes via firmware updates. so which one do you think will be better choice? thx a lot.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok sir, thank you very much. i have another one: do you think, that my question is relevant, or should i go for that one which gives me better price in moment of purchase. thx
Nice review I am considering this drone but I have to ask, what phone are you using? I have a Samsung galaxy S7. I looked at the list but some of those phone review say they do not support the 5G. Thanks in advance.
I'm using a SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8. You can see if your phone has 802.11ac to be compatible by checking here: support.heartv.com/miscellaneous/5ghz-devices
List is from August 2018.. Just a heads up. It's 5Ghz wifi, not 5G mobile network. I don't know why these manufacturers and reviewers keep confusing 5G network and 5ghz wifi frequency. I was totally confused too, until I did my own research.
I get the question multiple times daily. There are many people in North America and Europe who believe when the Chinese say 5G it means 5th Generation Cell Towers and not 5GHZ in the WiFi range. Easier to post the list then to repeatedly provide long explanations.
Hello, i have almost lost my JJRC x11 today because i flew it 400 meters away and when the fpv video got lost on my phone i press return to home on my controller but it didnt came back then i realised that the GPS was off on my remote control and the location button is off on my phone too does this matter on the RTH? Even tho i had 13 gps satellite showed on the remote control.
I think that even if GPS is off, it should still come back. Also, when your drone loses signal DON'T PRESS THE RETURN TO HOME... let the drone go into return to home mode automatically. If nothing happens after 3 mins of losing signal, then try the return to home. The reason I say this is because if the drone goes into automatic return to home and you press the return to home, you will cancel the return to home.
Captain drone I purchased this from Banggood on your recommendation of this device and received a defective item. I hope Banggood is good about resolving issues. Right now I'm out the money and got a nice paperweight for my desk.
When you purchase a budget drone (low cost) it comes with no warranty, serial number, service, support or after market parts. Hence the reason for the price. A you sure it is defective? I've spent the last 4 years educating people on what they felt was a defective drone which was really either User Error... Or they broke it. What exactly is your issue?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I apologized I'm an idiot in the rush to try it I neglected to see that you must hold the lock and power button on to sync remote to drone the first time. completely user error my fault. on the flipside, Banggood has been fast to respond to me. I actually came back on to delete the post but you had replied already so I got egg on my face now lol. thank you for your videos I really enjoy them and you help me decide on a good drone. I had my first flight today and was impressed.
Lovely drone, but again I totally agree with others, until they make the camera with electronic stability it's still not that great. Which is a shame as the build quality and such is excellent. Great review as always capt
In the world of photography you need a high resolution camera for photos to end up on a brochure and show detail. Now, if you are just printing your own brochure on some budget computer and printer then in the end it does not matter, so get something with a gimbal that holds the picture still, such as the JJRC X12 or JJRX X9P (the P has the better photo camera). Of course for average photo quality for pro work you are looking at $1000 drones, and above that for very good quality images. For drones $250 and less, the image you get is budget friendly which means they are perfect for low budget work, which means they are fine for people producing their own results on home budget printers.
Thanks captain, does it has gimbal stabilisation? Why other jjrc x11 I watched in RUclips is a bit unstable when they cover video recording? Thanks again.
Hi captain. Can i ask a professional question? You have a lot of knowledge of drones and i need an advice. I am looking for a drone i could rig for fishing. It needs to be strong to lift a few hundred grams, long range, gps, and if possible foldable. I also ask of you not to recommend a drone over 350 usd. Which drone will fit my description? Thanks in advance, cheers! And keep up the good work
@@pooyolski8356 That video is exactly what I mean. Drones are not designed to lift extra weight and fly because you will have very little flight control and the battery will run down quickly.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 that is what i need, i just wanted to ask if you can suggset the strongest drone possible at that price range with these specs, 200 grams lift is plenty for my needs.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 hold the lock button down before turning the remote on did the trick! I then flew the drone into my sliding door for the maiden voyage as my dog chased it. Thank you for the quick response!
Check out the camera footage and features on the drone and see which one pleases you more. Honestly they are similar in the end except one has a nicer controller and more sensors.
Hello. Please help i only can return to home by pressing on the return home button on the app but on the remote controller it doenst work they say to me Photo success if i long press it they say Video Success WTF?
Hello, i'm a new subscriber. You make really good videos. I've got some questions and it would be really nice if you could answer them. What drone do you recomend with a very good camera (image and stabilisation) under 200€? And can the drone record in another resolution other tha 2k 20fps? I mean can it record to 1080p 60fps or 30fps? Thankss
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you very much for your answer. i really appreciate ur efforts to help this big community of drone enthusiasts with replying to all their comments. regards from germany
Their both the same. I have a JJRC X7 Smart and I love the quality on that one, that is why I ordered the JJRC X11. Besides I kinda like the top finish on the X11 vs the Bugs 4W. I like the line instead of the blaw flat surface. Just my thoughts.
@@johnjamrowski7505 yes the finish, exactly i like the X11 design too . actually the original plan was to buy mjx bugs 5w and then bugs 4w came out and it really catch my attention. but frame rate on the bugs 5w was better so i can't decide. what should i do? should i tolerate and choose between bugs 4w/x11 or follow my original plan ?
The X11 and 4W are foldable drones, I like that feature. My JJRC X7 is like the 5W. Took it on a trip and I wish I would have had the foldable drone. Plus I think your getting a lot more for your buck on the X11.
Captain Drone! Love your reviews and videos! My question is this. I LOVE the JJRC X11. I made the purchase based on your review. But I'd like to take it to the next level with a 3 axis gimble. What are your suggestions?
I’ve been doing the compass calibration over and over trying to get it done perfect and I don’t see what I could possibly be doing wrong?? Is there any way I can send you a link of a video that shows the issue? I’m just really hoping you can spot the problem or hoping jjrc has some customer support? I’m dying to fly!
Hello Captain drone , as always a great video., I just got mine today, & it fly great, I did compass calibration, got solid lights, I got 11 satellites. After take off the drone is not rock solid & it is drifting, any advice?
QC must be all over the place with these budget drones. This model in particular receives 1,2,3 and 4 stars depending on the review. Good review Cap't.
Awesome review. I'm getting ready to buy soon. Your reviews always cut my research time in half. Thanks for all of your hard work.
I have not tried the JJRX X21 so unfortunately no opinion.
@@jeffreid3994 Glad you found it!
Hello,
Thanks for the reviews. If you would have to choose between this X11 and X13 that i have also seen the review, what are you going to choose?
The camera seems to be better on X13 from what i could observer (FPS / overall quality).
Thank you!
Silviu
Now that i saw MJX Bugs 20 i think this is what i need for a budget drone.
Still help your advice if you have one for me.
Great, glad you are enjoying.
Is possible change the camera a this drone for a 4K?
Nope
Thank you for this review 👍 Finally I get to see something like a range test. 500 meters is already a good distance! Have a great weekend!
I wonder who the original manufacturer is? I do love your reviews, very professional, your voice is easily understandable (no wind noise), and just the way a review should be.
I believe I read somewhere that MJX that makes the drone similar to this one Bugs 4W. Is the original version.
@@johnjamrowski7505 Cool. I just got one. If the wind finally calms down i may be able to try it out!

CAPTAIN DRONE , thanks. I like that this one has a little more range. I pretty made up my mind. Thanks to your very good review.
Thank you so much. You are like a child's blanket. Thank you for your in-depth and honest opinions. I'm subscribing

good quality drone?is the remote of jjrc x11 is battery useable or rechargeable?
Captain drone....I brought this as my first drone; after watching this review....all I can say is thank you for your info; yes it’s lacking in certain things/elements; but for a first time flyer it’s super cool!i feel like I’ve put the key in the lock and it’s opened into a super cool world! Again thank you for being honest!!! I’m currently saving up for a Mavic air 2!!! Thank you again for being brutally honest!!
Great to hear!
On the jjrc x11 is there another remote controller compatible with it I've seen several remote controllers that look like it on other drones
If I were looking to buy a lower end drone less than $500 I'd chose from the following (lowest price to higher price):
For 1080P video:
1 - JJRC Heron X9 ($169 on sale) or C-fly Dream ($239-ish) - both of these drones have a 2-axis gimbal 1080p but they can have some jello, 12-14min flight time
2 - Fimi A3 ($299 but on sale now for $229) - 2 axis gimbal 1080p (I believe EIS in 3rd axis), very smooth "professional-like" video. Highly recommend!
3 - DJI spark ($399) - 2 axis gimbal 1080p, EIS in third axis, very smooth "professional like video", intelligent flight modes, 12-14 min actual flight time.
For 4K video:
3 Hubsan Zino ($349 but can be gotten on sale for $260-ish price range). 3-axis gimbal, excellent "professional 4K video, but controller sticks are mushy and drone is "drifty" (no optical flow or sonic sensors on bottom), 16-18 min flight time
4 Fimi X8 ($499 but you can find this on sale for $399) 3-axis gimbal, long "actual flight time" of 25+ minutes, awesome professional quality 4K video.
HELP!
Sorry, I have never flown that drone (not familiar with it).
All I watch is your channel, i started from syma x5, now I have beast, soon il be ready for DJI , cost is something I had to do, so I trained on toys for long time no sensors, now it's time for something serious for next year....
Keep on its one of best things on world now...

Captain which is better to get the sjrc f11 normal verison or the pro verison which should i get
i'm just gonna wait a version of this with electronic image stabilization
Which one is better: jjrc x11 or jjrc x8?
Please respond
The App I used would be the one shown in the video. I have not flown this drone since then. Sometimes Apps change.
Jjrc X11 and Bugs 4w. Which one better?
Nice review. I noticed on your range test you were flying in mode 1. Can you switch the controller to mode 2 as a flight control preference? Many thx👍
At 4:20 we see the jerky bouncy recording quality. Notice it missed the landing pad both times. LED landing lights clever.
Looks just like the holy stone 720 to me. Wonder if it uses the same battery
Which one is better the x11 or f11 pro or the bugs 4w which one would you pick if you had to pick one thanks God bless
The unfortunate thing is that if you check most apps on the Playstore which are used for drones, they all have a terrible rating because the only people that rate them are pretty much the ones who encounter problems.

do you have a review about the jjrc x 17 ?
Hey guys, so I got this one delivered the other day. Haven't flown it for real yet but quick question A) the drone hooks up to the phone app via Wifi fine...so the APP does NOT connect to the controller then? B) I get some GPS satellites on my controller indoors when I turned it on but the App (JJRC X) does not show GPS satellites or the (I wanna say it was the aircraft battery strength or controller strength symbol...is this because I need to fly outdoors and actually have the drone flying first?
No GPS will be acquired until you do the compass calibration.
You know what...I just realized I had gps turned off on my controller (cause testing indoors) so that's why I probably couldn't see satellites on my app which is connected to the drone itself.
How to price
My won't fallow me, when I press ok it turns away and just stays there and won't react to anything I do until I press cancel and fly it manually again. But Def won't follow me. Got any ideas why?
When you installed the APP did you say YES to everything it asked for permission to?
Hi capt. What phone are you using? Seems you have a very good wifi signal. Some reviewers only getting like 200 meters fpv.
It is a SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8 (old phone by todays standards).
Hey there I just wanted to say you do very good videos. I was wondering if you need an faa license for the x11 drone or something else?? Thanks
@@tomsbudgetbuildsrctbbrc9388 I’m not from the USA, but I’m pretty certain that in the USA if a drone, helicopter or plane is 250 grams or over that weight, you need some form of certification to fly a remotely controlled unmanned aircraft.

I don't know. But if you do it, make a video and post it for everyone to see.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 🤔🤔🤔
Which is better f11 pro or all the bugs 4w drones? More importantly which has the better camera?
F11 PRO, but you may need editing software to adjust the GoPro look.
which is better the jjrc x8 or f11
Got it. Thanks
@@CAPTAINDRONE798
Thanks for replying.
Could you tell me what it can be? thank you.
Sounds like the App is not receiving the GPS from your phone.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you, I try
Would you do a comparison with this drone and the bugs 4w. Love watching your Drone videos...
OK Captain Drone, as a hiker/backpacker size, weight mean the most to me. I've watched your review of the jjrc x9 heron and it looks pretty good. Do you still recommend this for a beginner?
I recommend all GPS drones for beginners because they are so easy to fly and require no real skill. This drone has GPS so it is recommended.
Do you know if this drone will work on 802.11a/b/g/n? Or does it require 802.11ac? The "n" is supposed to support 5G wifi, but does it really? Thanks! Great review!
The box and user guide says 5ghz, so that is 802.11ac.
I do have several Holystone reviews. Potensic is just a rebrand of existing drones I believe.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 okay. I'll try to find your reviews. Still up in the air for which one I should get. If I give you an idea of what I want, could you throw a couple of names my way? Hi, nice video! Substantial pro and cons between jjrc X11 and sjrc F11 pro?
I'm curious about that to , did you find them?
Hey captain. I am strugling with fpv range and i have a good phone. Is there a wifi repeater a person can use to boost video range fir fpv please?
Yes, but I have never tried any. Do a RUclips search for WiFi repeaters and drones. Also, if you have a case on your phone, remove it for increased range.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you, I always take my cover off and cant seem to get past the 80m fpv range, gps range is fine but just the fpv range is crap. Hey Capn
I'm having trouble connecting my phone to my drone.
Thanks I will give it a whirl
Thank you for the fast response as well.
Hey CAPTAIN DRONE. What to choose, X9 with gimbal(1080) or this one without gimbal but 2K?
A comparison would also be nice ;)
The X11 is very close to a DJI drone in flight performance. The X9 does not fly as well, but it has a much better camera.
I just ordered this one! Can't wait! My first drone.

MJXRC which is the BUGS line of drones, makes the drones for JJRC, so I'd say the answer is MJXRC.
A little unrelated, but on Bugs 4 website they are advertising 4K now on the 4W. Did they upgrade the camera? Maybe I read it wrong. Love your videos.
4K is just for Photos
What's the difference between this and the Bugs 4 W, and if there isn't any or very little, why did they label the differently?
No difference. Two different companies.
Sorry Captain i ask alot Godbless ya ♡
I think that even if GPS is off, it should still come back. Also, when your drone loses signal DON'T PRESS THE RETURN TO HOME... let the drone go into return to home mode automatically. If nothing happens after 3 mins of losing signal, then try the return to home. The reason I say this is because if the drone goes into automatic return to home and you press the return to home, you will cancel the return to home.
How to disable GPS mode?

Captain drone I purchased this from Banggood on your recommendation of this device and received a defective item. I hope Banggood is good about resolving issues. Right now I'm out the money and got a nice paperweight for my desk.
When you purchase a budget drone (low cost) it comes with no warranty, serial number, service, support or after market parts. Hence the reason for the price. A you sure it is defective? I've spent the last 4 years educating people on what they felt was a defective drone which was really either User Error... Or they broke it. What exactly is your issue?

These drones all follow by means of the GPS in your cell phone.
This is a awesome drone . Looks premium
Hi want this drone to take shots of properties for brochures. is this the best to get as i dont want an expensive one
