I've done the Vancouver-JFK flight in Economy and it was one of my favorite flight experiences. The best service even in Economy. Would love to do a First Class on Cathay Pacific.

You said that was the best in North America. I know the flight was from jfk to Vancouver but Cathay pacific is based in Hong Kong. The only reason they have that route is when they used to not have a direct from hongkong to nyc
I have flown Cathay Pacific first class many times between YVR-JFK over the past 17 years. Each time, there seems to be more and more cutbacks. There used to be 3 choices of western main courses and now only one choice. The previous time (a week after your flight), the food was totally inedible.
Why can't I get a first class seat like that from Detroit Metro to Orlando International and back ? ! The only thing I need from all of this is the width of that seat for my comfort and size.
The amazing first class seats like that are only available to those flying coast to coast or internationally. Did some research while looking to book some flights last month.
Awesome! I recently flew Business Class on Cathay Pacific from San Francisco to Taipei and the flight was amazing! It was 13.5 hours of pure luxury. The flight attendants indulged my every request and gave me beautiful pajamas to wear. They were so nice, I got a pair on the return flight home as well.

You don't need to do that.. is nothing to say: Bad service of AC as usual with even more cheaper product. No drinks or food is free on most flights in North America, but they offer free meal on long-haul flights. No Free alcohol drinks and only Wi-Fi entertainment that works ONLY with Apple product and very bad with Android... forget about to use the laptop because there is no space between seats and rows... very tight for me as 6' tall NO space for legs unless you paid for extra legroom that is just normal legroom...or emergency exit with much extra legroom on 767 or A321 forget about space in A320 or A319.. horrible. The worst LOW COST product in the market.. well.. Easy Jet and Ryanair could be worst than Rouge.
I would completely disagree with the above opinion, Rouge provided me with an expected level of comfort and dining options. (Which of course cost money because its a low cost carrier!!!) Its a great little vacation airline and I’d love to see a trip report on it. (I’d love more though to see a report on Air Canada’s new Signature Service business class flights.
You can be disagree with my opinion because I compared with other LC carriers and what could be the minimum requirements for me... Being disagree is fine but not sure to understand why you want to read a review of something that you already expected on a low cost carrier?? If you are not in prefer seats or premium rouge and you are a 6' tall the legroom is not enough YYZ-VCE or BOG on 767-300 or to PTY in A319... is a torture... Also despite Rouge has IATA code RV AC mislead selling Rouge flights as AC flights in their website and thru partners such UA or LH but operated by Rouge... but hopefully Dan will do one review on it and everyone will have another point of view...
ggardeazabal I totally understand where you’re coming from, but the legroom isn’t that extremely bad, even for someone who is 6’ tall, I’m only 5’ 11” but I don’t think that extra inch mean an incredible amount. Lastly, Air Canada doesn’t “Mislead” people about their Rouge operated flight. When you book the flight it clearly says under the flight “Operated by Air Canada Rouge” And includes the discounted fare on the ticket because of the Low Cost Carrier. When it comes down to it all, if you think flying on Rouge is “Torture” than please, just book with AC mainline or another airline.
Yes that seat looks wide enough to fit someone else, like a living room couch. Dude you’re a legend. Would love to meet you someday. And it’d be nice if US based carriers had such a first class product.

The only thing I hate about the thought of flying first class is that you potentially fly over some parts of this world with rampant poverty and you sit up there and have more luxury on board of a plane than some of these people on the ground will ever see. I had that thought especially when you were alone on Lufthansa first and they presented you with loads and loads of food because you were the only one, too much for one to eat, and it was worth more than some people probably earn in 2 years.

It’s all or nothing. There has always been and will always be less fortunate people in the world. Short of actually going to a place that needs help and putting food into another person’s mouth, we should treat each other kindly and fairly.
I feel you. But understand that the UNited Nations is to blame not you. The UN knows and has access to money that should have already ended worldwide poverty. It’s not in your hands. I thought the same once. How undeserving I was with certain things. But you have to accept that you are blessed and special to be born in a first world country where you will never ever know true poverty. It’s ok to hurt for others. We all have human hearts. But enjoy your life everyday and just continue to be grateful to have access to such lux when others are less fortunate.

Kaipeternicolas they used to but not anymore. Used to all the passengers had to deplane and stay in a special boarding area I believe. Haven’t taken the flight that tags onto Hong Kong only the leg in the video.

Honestly Cathay Pacific is overall a good airline. & I only took economy and enjoyed it😁. Years later my friends mom took cathay and also commented that it was an excellent flight experience.

How awesome would it be if you flew to Kai Tak first class had it not closed? You'd have been treated to what you consider the finest North American 1st class flight, ending with a spectacular view of Hong Kong in a right hand turn!
