Wants this BS to stop? LEAVE. Don't sit there and wait. If the broker said 10am and its not ready and they're not paying you, LEAVE! Don't accept this BS. If you leave, the customer will get on the broker because they don't have a truck to take their freight. All it would take is for truckers to refuse to deal with this BS for 1 week to stop all tbis BS

I'm inclined to agree here, but it should be done in careful manner. You don't want to give them ability to lie, arguing that you were a "no show." Driver needs to wait a reasonable time then establish record that they were onsite and ready but shipper failed to load. That proof might be tough to accomplish.
But I agree if other parties aren't "punished" by say, leaving, this abuse will continue.

I like how everyone is forgetting that this has to be a team effort. Meaning a bunch of random people who don't know one another will say no. I can guarantee you that there will be at least one person that will need it/say yes. As much as we all would like for everyone to decline, not everyone can. I've tested something similar, and there will always be that one person who will take advantage of the "no's" especially if it's one of the better deals they've gotten in a while.
Realistically, this will never be possible

The worse is when they tell you 9 am and shupper puts u in a door but doesnt load you until 4pm. That when demurage and detention should deff come into play, pick you battles, work woth a 1-3 hr wait. If you get stick wating for 6 hrs then have a good relationship, and broker will ne much more willing to work with you if you dont psester them constantly for 1 hr of detention on every other load, youll move down on his list of trucks to call if your "that guy" its frustrating. What can you do? Logistics is as logistics does.

Youll make about 20K a month gross. And you'll take home about 7K. Fuel will cost you around 6K, tolls around $400, truck and trailer payment around $3600. Youll spend around $700 a month on food and drinks on the road and around $1500 a month on maintenance for your truck and trailer. And then you have some expenses like insurance and putting money aside for registration and ifta and highway permits... youll be left with roughly 7000. And then you gotta pay taxes...
Until that gross number grows to $30.000 a month honestly its not worth it. Hopefully next year we'll see a better market.

@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News seriously, though I don't have time for the nonsense, and there is still good freight out there. I have no problem charging a broker or customer for truck ordered not used. Will there be exceptions sure we all have regular customers that have an off day. I will make that call once I. A while to let something slide for a good customer or one that's new and while working out the logistics. But I compensate my drivers or owner opperators. I'm not afraid to tell a customer they are getting charged or a broker. I'm also not afraid to dead head to a better area instead of playing games and I have closed my doors and had customers back down or beg me to take the load when the truck is leaving. I also have had brokers say you got a killer rate and say there is nothing left but then compensate for a room or pay extra because they said the load was ready and wasn't.. these are the times when you find out who is reputable and who isn't and who is willing to take care of their customers and also there trucks! It's one of the reasons I love the trucking industry but it can also be one reason the frustrations make it hard. I love your content you make this industry fun thank you for putting out fresh content I know many of us really watching enjoy you and your crew in order to get this great of content you really have to be in the industry and really know it well and have a love for it and the good people in it! I once had a really good load from STEVENS I couldn't wait to work with the broker again she really was a good honest broker to deal with. The next time I got the chance to be in her lane and work with her again I called. And although I did get another load from stevens it wasn't from her. I came to find out she was a victim of domestic violence and was murdered 💔 I haven't thought about that in a long time but I do when I deal with stevens or Reminisce about good brokers. My God rest her soul and bless her family this holiday season I don't know them but I have no doubt they still miss her she was a good one who went out of her way to do what's right for anyone she worked with and probably ever met. 😢
