Playful Kitten Wakes Me Then Snuggles With Labrador Retriever

- My rescued kitten wakes me up by playing on my bed at my lake cabin. Then I spend a little time out on the dock and out in the lake in the kayak. Then the kitty snuggles with the yellow Labrador retriever on the dog bed. Then we go home and my kitten takes over the sleeping spot on my desk where my Mason cat usually sits and Mason growls and hisses at the kitten. Koho the kitten is not worried about the big hissing cat, at all. He is brave.

The Frosty Family work together as RUclips creators and share a PET and FAMILY vlog with weekly uploads. They also share some DIY and How To videos on a weekly basis. The Frosty Family is based in Northern Minnesota. This married couple has three adult daughters, three cats and three dogs featured on their channel. Kallie is our eldest daughter and has her own house. Kayt just graduated from college and lives at our lake home, and Amanda is a sophomore in college and lives at home with us. Koho reminds me of a dog. All he wants to be is loved, sleep, play, investigate, and eat. I bet if you put a leash on him, he'd go to the bathroom outside too. He's just happy to be alive. He pushes his positive energy to every living creature in the house.
Very well stated and I fully agree. I think both Mason and Koho have dog like behavior, where they ask to play, they follow me around the house like puppies and they love to see who is coming in the front door.
Unfortunately, I think Koho may have to get a few "schnozzalin's" from Mason, before he learns some manners. There has to be a pecking order. Mason was first. He has to be the "alpha" cat.
Maybe another cushion on the desk?

I agree. Mason communicates very well. He is so vocal to me. It is funny, he ignores everyone else in the family but when I am gone he is starting to warm up to my wife more.

Koho's markings are gorgeous.Why don't you get an extra pad for Mason? I feel sorry for him, he feels left out.
Actually the pad belongs to Mason, and he is the one that gets to sit with me 99% of the time. It was just during this video that the baby kitten took it over, but Mason is the one that usually sits there.

Fully agreed. I learn what makes each individual cat happy and I make sure I provide that interaction for each cat that is most meaningful to them. I make sure each and every pet feels very loved.

Mason is sad because he has not only his beloved dad alone. I feel sorrow for Mason. Some years ago I had a cat which i had token with me from a holiday trip to Austria. "Charly" was a wonderful cat. He was everytime the one and only for me. Some years later I got a new cat from a farm nearby. My mature cat did'nt like the new cat and his behaviour to me changed. Obviously he was angry of me and the new cat and got more and more sad. At one day he never came back. 😢
Oh so sad. I am making sure that I fully understand the exact things that Mason cat likes from me, and I make sure he gets those special moments with me. For example, the most meaningful time for Mason cat is when I go to bed. He LOVES to sleep right on my shoulder until I am asleep. I make sure he gets his spot on me and no other cats near him. I talk to him and give him good snuggles that makes him purr. I also give him priority on my desk when I edit videos, and even more so now. He is sometimes too sensitive, but I am making sure I give him priority.
but mason dont hate koho they play together sometimes and even clean each others, so i dont think thats the case, because if it was you will see them fighting and using their claws to hurt each others. i think he is just a little bit protective sometimes about his places, or because he wants more love. cats are territorial and like to feel like a priority but every cat is different they dont have the same personality so not all of them are like that, if you think about bestfriends you will see sometimes a friend getting jealousy if their friend have another close friend because they want to feel more important. the most important thing is showing a lot of love to mason and to make sure he is happy
I 100% agree with you. I think you are exactly right and very insightful. I am making sure I give Mason priority when he wants to sit with me, because he has always been very close to me.
I do want to cuddle Sadie.....
My playful adult cat does the same thing if "Dad" doesn't get up when the alarm goes off.
They have a way of enticing us to get up and face the world, with a smile.
I like to touche the nose of the cats too !! It's wet and cold....

Love that Mason just goes to the window and looks out to growl having no where else to vent his anger.
Hahaha, I agree. I wish Mason would growl directly at the kitten so that the kitten understands that it is for him. I never scold him for expressing himself anymore.

Great stuff as usual. Koho-Mason, Koho-Sadie, and the beautiful pictures at the lake were all wonderful.
Each segment had its own attraction but I did notice that Koho had some of the more feral qualities of my tabby-Bengal mix that I
used to have. Only recently did I realize that feral cats don't/can't meow. My Bengal-tabby mix had a louder chirp than Koho but don't be surprised if that chirp becomes powerful and resonant, especially with a male. Anyway... thanks as usual.
It is amazing to see Koho kitty evolve into a cat with very distinct traits, behaviors, and markings. He is different that our tabby (Mason) and our Egyptian Mau/Tabby mix (Kodah). He is very playful, curious and friendly, and starting to become somewhat mischievous. He is not bad, but he sure is curious, and is getting into everything. He rips our cactus plant out of the pots and bats them around the house. He is so wild when he is awake, and like you said, he makes strange sounds, like chirps and humming, and is completely unable to "meow". He is really starting to resemble what Bengals act like. It is interesting to hear your experience in this.

It is chilly here too, we hardly had any trick or treaters tonight. Yes, we have tons of geese on the lake this time of year, and again in the spring.

I have so much video recorded that I am trying to get caught up. We are just now getting snow last night and tonight but I have not yet edited that.
Koho is definitely part Bengal. Our cat looks so much like him and has a lot of the same interests, such as water, jumping, fearless, and affection for his people. And those deep pupils. Just like our cat Conan.
This winter will be Koho's 1st one.
Koho saw snow for the first time today, and he was indifferent hahaha. I think he figures the snow is outside, therefor it is not relevant to him. I am going to try showing him more snow later this week.

Certain stay-cool fabrics are used to make hot weather bed linens and you could put a folded flat sheet over the dog bed.

I feel badly for Mason, it is good you give him extra snuggle time to soothe his unhappiness.
The thing that makes Mason most bummed out is when I am gone out of town so much, especially overnight. I am working to make sure that I encourage him when he spends time with me and never chase him off me. He is starting to show signs that he is getting better accustomed with my new job schedule and he is also not hating the new kitten, thank goodness. He chases the kitten off my bed in the first half of the night, which is good because that is the most important time for Mason...especially when I first crawl into bed. I found all three of them all snuggled together in one big pile of cats on my bed by my feet at 4 am the other morning. I was very happy to see that. I also play with the laser and give Mason alone time to chase the laser without having to worry about the kitten interfering.
Frosty Life Aaaaaah, Tom, you have a very kind and sensitive perspective on how to interact with each of your sweet pets. You do not play favorites like some of the owners I have seen here on RUclips. In their homes, Koho would be given more attention and video time because he is the Mega RUclips Star while the other pets are treated as second class pets. All of your pets are adorable, beautiful, friendly, and sweet. We believed, in your heart, all of your pets are special Mega RUclips Stars. I still love Mason's first video where you rescued him when he was crying, all alone, wet, and scared . You were backing out your vehicle and stopped to retrieve something in your home. You took care of Mason and was the one who took him to the vet when he subsequently became very ill. Even Kodah was concerned and kept nudging Mason as he laid lifeless stretched out on your computer desk. That was a heartbreaking video. Nursing a very sick young kitten requires a lot of effort, time, and constant monitoring around the clock. Mason definitely remembers your kind , loving devotion to you and shows you his devotion and love for you in return. It is no wonder people are subscribing to your channel after Koho was showcased on The Dodo. Thank you Tom for all the TLC you give to all of your pets. Whenever I have my bad and sad days, I know all I need to do is watch your video or playlists ( love your playlists) when I have extra time to relax and unwind. 😍😍😍
Frosty Life Reading that you set aside some alone time playing laser with Mason makes me very, very happy. Our pets do have a higher consciousness . Mason sees you take Sadie and Koho with you to the lake and he feels left out, however, the extra attention you give to him assures him that he is still Your One and Only Mason. Those 2 times Mason went missing when you left for work still tears me up whenever I think about him. He may have wanted your attention desperately and decided to take an active approach by going out to find you. That is true devotion. Tom, have you ever watched the movie, " Haichi" stsrring Richard Gere? This movie did not get any theater time, it went directly to dvd . Mason reminds me of Haichi. Wow!!!! You have your very own feline Haichi.🐾🐾🐾

Mason gets more attention from me that Koho does, because Koho loves to be cruising around the house being playful and Mason seeks me to snuggle with him.
