Mixing Colors For A Primary Color Scheme

- Painting with a limited palette of primary colors helps us to understand color better because we’re limited to the 3 basic colors that all other colors come from. It helps us make better color decisions as well as make subtle color changes that we need in our painting.

I loved the energy of the colours in their dance with the light. Brilliant bit of work!
Thank you so much!
Beautifull Comoros mixing and strong color harmony - it looked like oil painting to me… ? And your brush work is just wonderfull - pure joy to watch 🩵💜🧡

I always enjoy your videos Phil. This one was no exception. Really love the simplicity in yiur approach.
Thanks Lincoln, I really appreciate it. How the painting going?
Thanks for this one Phil. I enjoyed watching your process. I am going to try to do the same with the three primaries.
Have fun! and good luck
Thank you for sharing those concepts on colors ;
I enjoyed also the swift calligraphie of your fine brush
You are so welcome!
You certainly know how to cheer up & warm up a sad view. I love to watch your conjuring. Thank you so much.
Thanks Anne
This was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Such a good lesson. I really miss the days of painting and receiving great critiques.
Hi Sandra, yes those were the good old days
This could be handy when you are traveling .
Yes, it helps to limit the colors outside, makes for a faster painting.
This is a lovely painting. Your videos are so helpful to me. Thank you very much.
Thanks Dana
Thank you for another informative and helpful video😊 you're a great instructor
Thanks Mary
Always enjoy watching your decision making when you paint Phil. At 3:35 you say "you could extend that out and get 6 or so new colors, plus add white and that would be new colors also". Wouldn't adding white just make it a new value in the same color family and not necessarily a new color? Sometimes wording when talking about color can become slightly confusing. I think I know what you meant, but just clarifying for my own sake.
Hey Allen, yes, it is the same color, different value But in a limited pallet it does give more sense of color changes as well.
Kindly Mr Phil can you make video about what is saquare color scheme , what color to choose and why.
Thank you
Hi Ahmed, I'm not familiar with a square color scheme, can you elaborate?
Nice Video! FYI, audio drops out around the 9:30 mark.
Hi Phil, yeah we had to speed it up to get to the finish.
Is this in oil?
Yes, this is done in oil.
I really like this video, keeping things simple is more.
Thanks Mike
