"N. Reeky" made my sister bust a kidney laughing so hard back in 2005 that she's never forgotten this movie. She watches it every christmas season. Can't believe it's been 20 years
i just noticed and i've watched it before lol
This movie is actually based off of a book, and in it, Luther is moved by his neighbors' generosity all on his own. His wife didn't need to bully him into it.
@@Rockmaster2112 Nah, they would probably go the same route for identity politics reasons.
@@Rockmaster2112 Perhaps. I guess he could complain about the script before he would sign on and they might change it get him. Has he done this before?
Yeah it’s based on a John Grisham novel who also wrote such great and contemporary stories and books like The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The Client, The Innocent Man, and so much more.
I read the book. I liked it and the movie.
The book was originally called Skipping Christmas but they changed that because of the Ben Affleck movie Surviving Christmas.
Several years ago we were in charge of our family Christmas party. The theme was Christmas with the Kranks. Everyone came in tropical wear and we had cruise themed food. Immediately after the party we grabbed our bags and jumped on a plane to Florida. We didn't really skip Christmas but we left snow covered Utah and headed into a Christmas heat wave in Florida.
I love this idea! ❤
As is your right because your neighbors aren't insane fascists like the ones in this movie. However when I've visited Florida in December to see the Disney Christmas decorations etc I was grateful that Florida usually ISN'T sweltering in December but seems to me like spring in the north east. LOVED it. It isn't raining every 5 minutes nor swampy like it is when we visit in Summer. But you do you.
This is one that I have missed so this was a first time reaction to Ashleigh's First time reaction!! This was a fun ride.
I am surprised when Ashleigh said she has only seen Tim Allen in "Home Improvement" and "The Santa Claus" and still missed out on "Galaxy Quest"?? And I know it is an animated but he did also do Voiceover in "Toy Story".
One of me favorite Christmas movies. I always get teary eyed when he gives Bev the cruise. You’re right she does seem like such a sweet woman.
This was Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis' 4th movie together.
Trading Places
My Girl
My Girl 2
Christmas with the Kranks
This is one of those movies I thought I wouldn't like, too cheesy but when I did watch it I actually liked it. The cast is the best and it's a genuinely good Christmas movie
Yeah same, here. I thought it looked dumb but then I watched it from Netflix and REALLY liked it! (it is dumb, but a very fun kind of dumb)
Just a comment that Marty is played by a great character actor named Austin Pendleton who has been in tons of movies. One of my favorite scenes with him is in a great movie called Two Days in the Valley. It has an ensemble cast with like 20 starts in it. Also, Cheech Martin was in the party at the end of the Kranks. He's from Cheech and Chong.
Marty was in What's Up Doc!!! He's the prestigious music guy who ends up with Eunice (Madeline Kahn)!
He was great in My Cousin Vinny as the stuttering lawyer.
@@scottboswell6406 yes! I was going to mention in What's Up Doc reaction but forgot. He was in lots. I'm pretty sure Catch 22 and many others. I like his nervous energy. His scene in Two Days in the Valley is classic!
Don't forget Max in The Muppet Movie!!
@@pem1974 yes! I was just looking up his other movies and saw that!
Ashleigh you actually watched two Austin Pendleton films back to back, he's Marty and in What's up doc? he's Frederic Larrabee. I actually love this movie, my family and me watch it every year it's based on a John Grisham book called Skipping Christmas.
Always with the coincidences around here. Marty the weird guy that turned out to be santa was just in What's Up Doc too!
The guy with the fancy house that was giving the science grant and ended up with Madeline Kahn
I think he's most recognised as the stuttering public lawyer from My Cousin Vinny btw
He also voiced Gurgle the purple fish in "Finding Nemo", too.
He's also in "Guarding Tess" which is a great movie with Nicholas Cage and Shirley MacLaine.
The kid who played Spike also was the character Dewey on TVs "Malcolm in the Middle".
The 12 days of Christmas officially end on January 6, so you're good! Society likes to focus strictly on New Year's Day and move past Christmas after the 25th.
So, M Emmet Walsh, the actor who plays Beverly's husband (the family with the white cat) is in another movie with Jamie Lee Curtis that you just watched...KNIVES OUT! He plays the security guard guy with the "new fangled equipment" of the VHS recorder 😅
And the kid Spike was on the TV show Malcolm in the Middle.
NO FREAKIN WAY..
Yes, he was the youngest brother! @@awkwardashleigh
and the officer who spoke to the judge in What’s Up Doc 🙂
And he is also in Home Improvement with Tim Allen. He played Jill's dad.
Speaking of empty nesters, when the last of our three daughters moved out, we highed-fived and yelled, "We got our house back!"
Wow. Gross.
I don’t mind watching a belated Christmas movie. This is definitely the perfect cast
And an ad against HOAs. We dont have those in Finland, only one that can complain is the county that gave you permits to build and they do not care, because there is no law that says a thing about seasonal decoration.
Someone would come to me an say i need to put up some specific xmas yard decoration, they better have it with them, with extension cord to their house and they fix it when first plow has driven on street and ripped everything with it, and we dont use tiny pick ups , its road graders, front loaders, 20 ton trucks and farm tractors.
Thank you for keeping the Christmas spirit going into the new year!
I think this is a highly underrated movie. I found it very funny when I watched it in the theater, and it’s still one I enjoy every year!
I re-watch this film every single year and don't get why it has such low ratings. It's so fun and entertaining. Huge fan of Jamie Lee & Tim Allen. You also saw Tim in Galaxy Quest (1999) by the way!
I think it's more against Tim Allen than anything else. Hollywood has been trying to boycott him since ABC tried to cancel Last Man Standing.
Jake Busey (the blonde cop)is the son of actor Gary Busey who was in movies like the Buddy Holly story and lethal weapon and The Firm and many others, he suffered a dramatic brain injury after crashing his motorcycle and ever since his behaviour has been very strange.
I found the daughter getting engaged weird since she wasn’t gone very long and there was no mention of Enrique before she left.
Fun fact: This movie is based on a relatively short John Grisham book named “Skipping Christmas.”
He was so mean to Santa that Santa made him take his job!
For another Tim Allen movie also with Sigourney Weaver, Allen Rickman, Tony Shaloub and others is Galaxy Quest a must see for fans of scifi especially Star Trek.
She already has a reaction to that one. She loved it.
I always love Luther being sarcastic about who Vic is gonna tell on him too 😂 plus the reference to Tim Allen being Santa
If you want more Tim Allen you should watch For Richer or Poorer.
Another great movie with Tim Allen is For Richer or Poorer with Kristie Alley.
I am allll for more Christmas btw!
Next Christmas you need to watch The Santa Clause 2... I want you to do 2 AND 3 the same year. lol, but at least watch part 2.
Christmas isn't just one day, it's a Celebration within our hearts that we should rejoice in every da..... ALRIGHT, WHO THREW THAT TOMATO???
this is a childhood favorite! my mom and I watches every year lol
I ❤❤❤this movie! This was the last movie I watched at the cinema with my aunt before she died a year later and I still remember how much she LOVED this movie and how much she laughed her heart out with a joyful twinkle in her eye. It's a memory that always comes to me when I rewatch this movie every holiday season. Unfortunately there is no sequel to this movie, though I'd ❤❤❤a sequel to see where the Kranks are now, how their family has possible grown with possible grandchildren and did if they will ever make their holiday trip. 🤣Anyways, thank you for reacting to this one. This was a good one.
Such an underrated Christmas classic
Bbbbb “Th-th-th-that's all folks!” 😂🤣
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Marty/Santa is the same actor that played the stuttering lawyer in My Cousin Vinny.
I’m so glad you made an executive decision.I watch this every year and getting to watch it through your eyes after Christmas was such a joy and keeps the holiday spirit going.I might watch Christmas movies all year long.🥰👏🏾👏🏾
ASHLEIGH!
The old man neighbor with the cat... He also played the security guard guy with the video tape footage in Knives Out.
He was also a police officer in What's Up Doc?, the dive team coach in Back To School and was also in the Steve Martin movie The Jerk.
He's done a ton of stuff, but I know these are all movies on your channel.
Did you notice two actors from this movie were also in What's Up Doc ? Marty (Santa) and the neighbor across the street.
Loved Iron Eagle as a kid. Looking forward to that one for sure
Tim Allen was in Galaxy Quest, which you've seen. Oh - and Austin Pendleton (Marty) was in What's Up Doc, which you just watched!
Jake Busey----Boosey? HAHA Look up who his FAMOUS CRAZY actor dad is!!!!
Julie Gonzalo, who played the daughter, was the main antagonist in Freaky Friday, among many other things around this time.
She has also been in several Hallmark movies.
I love seeing Dan in Coneheads it's a hilarious movie.
I LOVE your channel, and Beans is the cutest baby….I’ll definitely keep watching!
The actor who played Marty was also the stuttering lawyer in My Cousin Vinny. The girl who played Blair was also in the movie Dodgeball.
"It's Jamie Lee Curtis, get over it!" I couldn't agree more...love this movie!
you are not bad yourself, that little christmas improv at 14:00 was funny, what do you do about carolers you ask, you stand there , let them sing and AFTER they are finished, AS A TIP, [IF YOU WANT] you can offer them something hot to drink and maybe some gingerbread cookies or some other snack, nuts, candy canes, fruit cake... or something else, or just say, very nice, thank you good night or have a good day, if they do it during the day time.
We watched this for the first time last year because my grandpa loves Tim Allen. We loved it, especially my grandpa lol.
His favorite movie is also RV with Robin Williams, so he loves the goofy cheesy family man type movies.
M. Emmet Walsh who played Walt in this movie also played Tim's father-in-law in "Home Improvement."
And BTW you forgot that you also saw Tim Allen in the wonderful sci-fi send up "Galaxy Quest."
Omg, I love this movie. I looove it! lol
One of the main things I don't agree with though, is the police calendar. That is for the whole year... you're still going to need a calendar, why not the police one... the end of the year just happens to coincide with christmas. lol
Jake Busey is the son of actor Gary Busey(who played Mr. Joshua in Lethal Weapon) which is also a Christmas movie.
I like this movie a lot. The reaction from their friends and neighbors always makes me mad though. OK, so they aren't having the party this year, big whoop, you have around a month to figure something else out. You're grown ups, adapt people. That being said, Luthor in particular takes things way too far. Putting Frosty up, for instance, costs them nothing other than time and it wouldn't even cost him that because they offered to put it up for them.
The point of the story is they all act like a-holes and no one displays Christmas spirit except Nora.
Yes the neighbors came off more being mean for mean's sake. I think they needed to be more comedically Over the top and goofy.
I recognize Martin/Santa as the guy who played the lawyer with the nervous stutter in My Cousin Vinny.
Every Sony movie I had in 2004 brought the trailer for this, Spider-Man 2... And I'm sure there were others. I loved the bit of him trying to eat that peach with a frozen face.
28:30 - You also saw Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest.
It's a Christmas Miracle
JLC is in Drowning Mona. Be there or be square. Thanks again for What’s Up Doc!
Favorite Christmas movie of all time!
This would be my favorite Christmas movie if the Kranks actually went on their vacation.
As an adult if these were my neighbors i would be physically fighting lol you will not guilt trip me into something i dont want to do lol
Ashleigh, I think your version of "Jingle Bells" maybe be the best one I've ever heard! And you really do have a very nice singing voice! But when did you start channeling Porky Pig? (Kidding, you're the best!)
Can't wait for Ashleigh to release her first album. Knock Taylor Swift right off the charts.
You Could say you're getting a jump on this year's Jingle Beans. LOL
The actor who played Marty (santa) was also in the movie What's up Doc.
Thank you my heart is crying👌💙🐈
It’s still the Christmas season until Epiphany! You are good! Glad to see another Christmas movie!
im so freaking excited i have watched this movie every single christmas season
The very next day the couple moves away from the neighborhood
Ashleigh, did you recognize *Austin* *Pendleton* who played 'Marty' the 'Umbrella Santa'? You first saw him as 'Frederick Larrabee' in WHAT'S UP DOC? (1973)!
Two great Tim Allen movies : galaxy quest with sigourney weaver and Alan rickman, jungle 2 jungle (business man finds out he has a teenage son in Africa, he didnt know about.
Jamie Lee curtis: house arrest, Jennifer love Hewitt, Wallace shawn, Jennifer Tully, Christopher McDonald.
Theres so many that you've probably seen from jamie
I know a lot of people don’t like this movie, but I saw it when I was 9/10 so it’s kind of a childhood favorite lol
I love this movie!!! I watch it every year
REREREMIX omg I played that back 10 times crying laughing
The "santa" played a doctor in the kinda zombie comedy called, "My Boyfriend's Back"
The "Santa" is Marty for the party.
I bet Ashleigh would enjoy My Boyfriend's Back. SOOO eighties.
They built the entire neighborhood on an empty plot of land in East Los Angeles and filmed during Summer. The “down town” area where the Butcher and other various scenes were filmed at Universal Studios. My absolute favorite Christmas movie…recent subscriber and came across this video. Thanks for the fun reaction…Christmas in June!
Austin Pendelton who played Marty was also in Whats up Doc
What is she shooting out? That's what she said!! 😂😂😂
Yay! Finally, my birthday fell on a Friday. And get to enjoy your reaction.
Also my introduction to JLC was Freaky Friday. So so good.
M. Emmett Walsh played Tim Allen's father in law on "Home Improvement"
I think he was Jill's father in HI, the Colonel, wasn't he?
I have always been a fan of the comedy Oscar with Sylvester Stallone.
The book is so good…Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. He usually does law stories, so this was such a gem!
Another good movie with Tim Allen is For Richer for poorer. You would love it.
Another Tim Allen hidden gems is 'For Richer Or Poorer' with Kirsty Alley.
I don't understand why they didn't just celebrate with what they had. I mean their decorations in storage would have sufficed, and frosty didn't cost anything to put him up.
Thank you. Another Jamie Lee Curtis movie you would love is Freaky Friday (2003)
If you consider another belated movie that takes place during Christmas. There's a really funny movie with ryan reynolds called "Just friends" you'd love it
Did you see the Just Friendsgiving short?
My wife and I saw this in theaters when it came out and loved it! It was so funny and Jamie Lee Curtis and Tim Allen were perfectly cast as a cute married couple. Their chemistry was amazing. I'm happy you enjoyed the movie. On a side note, you mentioned when you love an actor you love watching their movies. I have suggested 'Mr. Hollands Opus' (1995) several times because it stars Richard Dreyfuss (who you love) and co-stars Olympia Dukakis (who you also love) but you haven't watched it yet. It won't win a poll, you should make an 'Executive Decision' and watch 'Mr. Holland's Opus', I think you'll really love it.
OMG Ashleigh, please watch Tim Allen in the highly underrated "FOR RICHER OR POORER"
Definitely a bit underrated as a Christmas movie. Btw, the actor who plays the husband across the street (couple with the cat) played Tim's father-in-law in Home Improvement and the diving coach in "Back to School".
Think he also had a small part in "Frasier"
Thank you for reacting to this, and taking the reviews with a grain of salt. I actually read the book, Skipping Christmas, first and loved it. Then the movie came out and I enjoyed that as well. It doesn't get a lot of love these day but you've done your part to bring attention back to it. Great job, and good luck in the coming year.
Jumped for joy when I seen this upload! My mum and my favourites Christmas movie!
The man with the green hat and red scarf who she shouldn't let into the hose is Austin Pendleton, who played rich kid Frederick Larrabee in What's Up, Doc?
We're still technically in the 12 days of Christmas, so totally OK! December 25th is actually the 1st day of Christmas. Funny movie!
Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest, C'moooon!
One of the Christmas movies I always watch when its Christmas time. Great to see you react to it!
Please please for next Christmas... The Ref... you will LOVE it...
Happy 3 kings day!! Christmas is still ongoing in Puerto Rico 🎉😂❤ Great video!
This is always a must watch at Christmas! Tim and Jamie Lee are great together, so funny! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome reaction of my favorite Christmas movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
Sorry I missed you over Christmas so even it be late merry Christmas and happy new year. 😊
This is my go to Christmas movie every year!
HOW has this movie become redeemed in the eyes of the general public?? How, how, HOW?!?
Oh my gosh I found another sane person in the comment section. I am so glad I never watched and only learned about it through the Nostalgia Critic review.
this was the first time I walked out of theater..
