    Old dynamite is even more dangerous than good condition dynamite. As the nitroglycerine ages and sits neglected, it leaches into the paper and can form crystals on the surface of the sticks. These crystals are extremely shock sensitive and even bumping them can cause a detonation.

    • @markissleepy
      @markissleepy 2 года назад +12

      Came her to say this. The nitroglycerin can also leak out, build up, and explode without warning if it's kept in damp conditions so if that mine section is normally filled with water like that they might be in even more danger there.

    The bald bear was played by Bart, who was probably the most famous bear in Hollywood. He was in movies, TV, and advertising in the '70s, '80s and '90s, before succumbing to cancer in 2000. Every human actor who played alongside him was impressed by how well he was trained.
    Can't wait for Thor Ragnarok!

    • @GeminiWolfstarGaming

      To add to fun facts about Bart the Bear, he was truly massive! Stood at a height of 9 ft 7.5 in (293 cm) and weighed 1,500 lb (680 kg)! And crazy enough, he appeared in the 70th Academy Awards on stage as part of a salute to animal actors and "handing" Mike Myers the envelope. You can can find the clip of it here on RUclips.

    I may have told the story before, but I'll tell it again.
    Some years ago, I was an extra on an episode of ENG, and John Candy turned up on the set. He wasn't in the episode or anything, he was probably there just to see someone. Anyway, while he was there, he came down to the cafeteria and kind of held court, surrounded by all the extras and bit players. He was a funny, charming guy, and really the only celebrity I ever met who FELT like a celebrity.
    When I heard he had died, I was stunned. He was such a nice guy, such a character and so well loved by everyone. RIP John.

    Oh good lord! I was a kid at Bass Lake watching this being filmed. The scene where his son goes to the A&W, watched all the takes. It's an ice cream shop, or was, but never was an A&W. I need to drive back up to see what all is there today. I remember Hollywood took over the entire beach area we hung out at. Bass Lake was never the same after unfortunately. You got my respect for liking John Candy and Dan Akroyd and John Hughes! Also, you have beautiful hair and a Golden Girls cup, I'm subscribed after this viewing!

    When it comes to dynamite, if exposed to moisture these detonators can produce an explosive gas and the slightest change in environment can cause degradation in less than one hour leading to an extremely dangerous situation. Also, on top of that, old dynamite is dangerous because over time it can become unstable and an explosion can happen even without the use of a blasting cap.

    I remember thinking this was the most hysterical movie ever as a kid. We used to rent it often, the raccoons were my favorite. I almost can't watch it anymore just because it doesn't quite hold up to my childhood recollection of it, though I still can appreciate it for the time period it was made and all that. And I will always love John Candy in everything he did.
    Of the 80s comedies you haven't gotten to yet, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," "Adventures in Babysitting," & "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" are the best, IMHO. Wow, it just occurred to me how many 80s comedy titles include the word "Adventure" in them. 😆

If they latch on to your finger or hand while putting it on the hook they pull right off pretty easy and actually take a long time to draw any blood. Also old dynamite will drip nitroglycerine which can ignite just by a drop falling on the ground, its extremely dangerous.
