During the 4 years I owned Tesla, the only time I need to open the hood is to store grocery or top up windshield fluid. I guess it's not a deal breaker for most people.
If you remove the cover held on by a screw under the steering wheel, you can pull the lever whenever you want to access under the hood, where you will find nothing you can service
I understand that it could be dangerous to mingle under the hood but…..not allowing me to open it after I paid for the whole thing is annoying and moronic. I agree with you David this is another over engineered SUV only made for leasing.
No physical buttons is a huge mistake. Why should you have to take your eyes off the road to change things or make adjustments? These vehicles are way too complex.
There are buttons. The steering wheel has the essential buttons including music volume. The aircon are permanent large buttons on the screen, and if you get the AMG version you get a programmable steering wheel button. There are also essential buttons on the centre console for other essentials, as well as seat adjustment on the doors. Lights have a dial, wipers have a stalk. The screen is for interacting with settings, maps, and music sources….just like every other screen, and the excellent voice system can do all that interaction. So for an engineer to say it has no buttons is misleading and not true
Don't forget about voice commands. That's why Tesla removes most of the buttons. Most people complaints about the button usually don't know about how powerful the voice command is.
Naaa I mean I get your point, but driving a normal car you need buttons for all basic function you need to be able to access immediately - even if you are on the phone, in a tunnel or if you cannot talk right now - its a security issue. Teslas are less safe and reason for not buying them.
@bavariancarenthusiast2722 please list what the basic functions that you need immediately that you cannot access from the Tesla or you might not know what is available on Tesla?
I've noticed EQS450+ drivers (both sedan and SUV) try to either race or drive overly aggressively around my Model Y Perf. Makes me think they secretly regret buying the EQS.
I like your review from a engineering prospective, I don’t like the large screen based on your comments. I am considering the Porsche Macon EV when it comes out next year. Hopefully you will do a review. I enjoyed your comments as I am mechanical engineer and prefer your thoughts. Thanks
Love your videos David, but you could not be more wrong about this thing being better than a Model X. At this point all the OEM’s are playing catch up to Tesla. The fact car like this and the BZ4x lack a frunk show how behind they are in the engineering and packaging department when it comes to EVs. Also, Tesla is quickly catching up in terms of fit and finish. It’s just silly to write off a car based on that.
@@InternetDude That is the Tesla of a few years ago, they are improving fast. The Model Y is expected to outsell the Rav4 this year in the US. User satisfaction and charging infrastructure is better than all the competitors which is why Ford and GM are switching to Tesla’s NACS charging standard. Even Toyota execs called the Model Y a “work of art”. Sleep on Tesla if you wish but this new Merc only appeals to fanboys.
@@InternetDude 😂I’m actually a big Toyota fan as well, too many people and companies, especially Toyota, have been underestimating and ignoring Tesla over the years and now it’s coming back to bite them.

Only the dealership can open the hood. Thats a BIG no thanks for me.

The first panel gap right by the headlight, between the front bumper and front fender looks crazy wide. It would have been interesting to measure it.
No kidding, not exactly Tesla panel gap quality. The car will probably fall apart before a Tesla reaches half it's service life.
@@MichaelBusheyI don't know, I've had to replace both motors in my 2015 model S. I bet this is better overall reliability.
@@mguerraisthow much? Is that a common problem based on your experience?
@@MichaelBushey they had quality issues with the first batch of EQS too - but they fixed it, looks similar with his one.

That sounds like its a story in your head mate...does not make any sense, normally its the other way around

Thats a very promising car! Agreed would be interesting for me as well!
Another great video 👍 thumbs up to you
Thank you for the review. I feel like an EV should have a lot of space available. This already has but the trunk could have been much more useful.
Yeah try it out as a daily driver - I don't miss a frunk - I had it in the past with cars, never used it.
Another excellent review. Thank you
Very Nice ❤
Nice car
Any EV that doesn't offer a frunk, is not properly designed, Tesla and Lucid take advantage of that fact.
Tesla and Lucid are junk.
Good car❤
Huge DISRACTING display 👎
If you drive one you will find that it is not distracting
I see them all over my town.
Good Mercedes Benz car ❤❤❤
If it's not Toyota........I don't want it!!
@anotheruser5654Tesla can have lower cost and be more reliable since simpler drivetrain.
You’re an engineer…so, you should know EVs are not the answer.
What?
That car is hideous. Give me the Tesla!!
I hate the exterior. The interior is way too busy; even David said it’s distracting while praising the car. You?
Here take it!!!! 🚗🚙

Lol of course it’s better. It’s $30k more then tesla X.
No it’s not. Too long to explain
Yeah and its double as good as the X - if you like luxury and high quality - vs. Tesla is great with software and their charger network.
