    What the Janitor did in the negotiation scene was actually quietly genius. He opens with a bunch of ridiculous offers, knowing full well that Cox will reject them. But these stupid offers also frustrate and annoy Cox, making him desperate to end the conversation and get out of there. So when the Janitor offers a non-stupid offer, Cox jumps on it rather than try to bargain it down any further.
    Of course, that may have just been the Janitor being the Janitor, but it's not hard to imagine his behaviour being intentional.

    Homages aside - the lesson here is a stellar one - don't let the brief joy of spitefulness into your life; or it'll come back to bite you once you've forgotten about it.
    Cox made up for what he knew was wrong from the start; the Janitor didn't tell him the score.
    Cox forgot about the fun he'd had playing a trick on someone else; the someone else told him the score.
    Make the best possible choices, for the best possible life that you could present yourself with.

      Hospitals are always late with equipment upgrades due to budget problems. So VCRs were a thing for a while after the DVD came out.

      A DVD player wouldn't help you record TV, and while TiVo and DVRs did exist in 2004/5, it wasn't unusual for people to still us VCRs to record TV

    Janitor: i would like a shark that reads minds
    Me: Doesn't exist
    Janitor: you and i trade lives for a year

    A TV setup costs the same as a new MRI machine that doesn't seem right...

    • @Xylarxcode
      @Xylarxcode 7 лет назад +5

      Price of an MRI machine in the early 2000's: About 150.000 dollars.
      Price of a fully equipped modern day TV set in the early 2000's: About 2.000 dollars.
      So yea... Kelso is either a brilliant accountant able to take money from places that don't exist or he's lying/exaggerating.

      Come on guys, is stablished through the series that Bob is not a monster, he's just dealing with lots of difficult choices. He's not a monster and he won't stop to buy a important MRI just for TV setup. He's just kidding.

    • @bluescluessuperagent
      @bluescluessuperagent 4 года назад +1

      Cause while the show does enjoy making Kelso look like the bad guy, he's actually competent at his job and runs the hospital as well as he can in the capitalist US medical system. (Also a tv is pennies compared to an MRI machine)
      As for his attitude towards others....well it's a comedy. Basically every character in the show would be fired in real life. Its a joke how the Janitor still had a job as he was fired like day 1 when Courtney Cox became the new chief of medicine for a bit.

    I don't understand why they wouldn't use an actual score from an actual Lakers/Heat game. This was 2004-'05...neither LA/MIA game had a 98-97 Lakers score. This wouldn't have been a difficult thing to corroborate.
    I also don't understand why the Janitor was stil there that late at night. Did he ever actually, you know, go home?

    • @christopherwall2121
      @christopherwall2121 5 лет назад

      Depending on production order and stuff, this episode may have been written months before the season even started, so they decided to hedge their bets and make up a score.
