L.L. Bean is an sort-of-upscale outdoor clothing store.
Have you had See's candy? That would be a fun thing for you to try, and you wouldn't even have to travel. There are See's stores in San Diego, where you live. Boxes of See's make nice gifts, BTW.
That was a conching machine in the window of the Lindt store. Conching is a process where they slosh the molten chocolate back and forth, which reduces the particle size to make it smooth. Lindt chocolate is always very smooth, never grainy.
A midwestern thunderstorm is like an object that floats by. You look up in the sky and see this *thing* approaching. It can be surrounded by sunshine while it's pouring rain underneath the clouds.
The waitress at Wahlburgers was great, wasn't she? Friendly, helpful, good-natured. I wish all servers were that good.

Government cheese was a type of cheese distributed to low-income Americans at no cost through the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program. The program was in place during a time of volatile milk production in the 1980s recession. But this processed cheese was used in military kitchens during World War II and has been used in schools since the 1950s.

    • @thelunatick1993
      @thelunatick1993 4 дня назад +1

It was done because there was an over production of milk. (Due to dairy price support structure).
Ended with the dairy buyout program. Before top dairy producing states bordered Great Lakes.

Mall walking is the thing across all of America. I worked at an Express in the mall for a few years and there were always a few people walking the mall when I’d go to open the store at 9 AM on the weekends. Easy to get steps in, things to see, never have to deal with weather issues, no hills. Makes sense to me!

I loved the thunderstorm story. Minnesota thunderstorms are truly something else. It'll sound strange, but I miss them. The thunderstorms we get here in Arizona are nothing like the ones back in Minnesota. Mall of America truly is a man-made wonder and I am always overwhelmed whenever I go there. It has been years since I was there, but every time I return to my home state, I always make sure to stop by MOA. Glad to see you guys making the most of your time there. Hopefully you'll get the chance to try some local restaurants there. Also, hope you get to try the Minnesota famous Juicy Lucy.

@@thebritstry Since you said the sky was clear just before the storm erupted, that's what we call a "popcorn thunderstorm", which is very common in Minnesota. If you watch weather radar you can see them suddenly popping up out of nothing, then evaporating, then another one pops up a few miles away, and so on for hours.

Cheese curds are a by-product of the cheesemaking process, and are made from young cheddar cheese that hasn't been aged, never mozzarella. Not sure what they are serving.
Cheese curds are made from fresh pasteurized milk to which cheese culture and rennet are added. After the milk curdles it is then cut into cubes; the result is a mixture of whey and curd. This mixture is then cooked and pressed to release the whey from the curd, creating the final product.

Government Cheese is cheese made for shelf life like Velveeta. It's called government cheese because it's made from surplus milk that the government paid more than market price to stabilize milk prices so dairy farmers wouldn't loose money. The cheese was then given away to people on government assistance.
The Wahlberg's had a lot of kids and low income. They were on government assistance for a while and probably received "government cheese".

Ugh! You guys!! Pro tip #2: as the bacon falls off the wontons, after you bite, dip cream cheese exposed into the fallen bacon. Grabs it right up.
Or, simply dip into the chipotle sauce as a sticking agent, and sprinkle the bacon atop again, it’ll stick. And if they weren’t drizzled (lightly) with maple syrup, then they aren’t as good as they could possibly be. Love those wontons with red southwest flavors!!

I grew up as a kid in the ‘80s. The government tried to use cheese as much as possible because they bought so much of it and all the public schools had to use it in almost every dish. Salads would be covered in cheese, we had macaroni and cheese multiple times a week, it became a joke. They used so much of it if you flipped your mac and cheese plate upside down, it wouldn’t fall off.

Microbiologist Curt Jones invented the beaded ice cream concept in 1988 when he used his knowledge of cryogenic technology and his love for ice cream to create Dippin’ Dots, which has since been America’s number one beaded ice cream brand. Through innovation and imagination, Dippin’ Dots redefined ice cream. From the first bite of unexpected flavor, Dippin’ Dots creates an experience that is remarkably fun and unforgettable.
Popularity grew and in the early 90's Dippin' Dots became the pre-teen image of fun with friends at malls and amusement parks across the country. And in 1995 Dippin' Dots made its international debut in Japan, where fans of American culture would fall in love with the Ice Cream of the Future.
An icon at amusement parks and stadiums, Dippin’ Dots is served in nearly every major theme park and in more than two thirds of all baseball stadiums in the U.S., not to mention local water parks, amusement parks and attractions. And Dippin’ Dots isn’t just a treat, it’s an experience. When planning their visit, park guests won’t skip out on their favorite ride, and a cup (or two…or three) of their favorite flavor of Dippin’ Dots.

Interesting story behind government cheese we were in a depression an going into WW2 so government decided to get into the cheese business among other things to help with feeding the troops an to help families involved in the war effort. An to help boost the economy so every farmer in America that had milk cows got into the program. So what initially happened was the government had more cheese than they knew what to do with an didn't discontinued the program untill the 90s. Look this up in Springfield Missouri there are caves so big that hundreds of big trucks transfer trailer type trucks deliver an take out cheese on a daily. You will be surprised at the size of these caves. An guess what they warehouse there you guessed it cheese.
