True, but get your food before noon or be prepared to wait in a looooong line for popular options. Another annoying aspect is that most food vendors don't also serve drinks. Fortunately, drink lines (except for cocktails) are much shorter.
You forget that Wisconsin has arguably the best lemonade in the country at our state fair, the little white buildings that only serve lemonade are absolutely the best. (The lemonade makes Wisconsins state fair better and we also have creampuffs)

I’m so glad you were able to visit my state’s “State Fair”. Last year 2 Million people visited. The people watching is great and the food is crazy. You won’t get that everyday

My mom’s family is from Edina and even though I live in Colorado I love visiting Minnesota once a year for the state fair and an obligatory annual visit to the Mall of America. I was on a cruise so missed this year’s fair but love watching your bewilderment/amazement as first-time fair goers. Continued safe journeys and endless supplies of Alka-Seltzer!
If it were the right combination of *good* ice cream, *good* bread, and *good* chips, it might work. I'm thinking maybe chocolate marshmallow ice cream, a reasonably sweet multi-grain bread, and apple chips, might work reasonably well. Or french vanilla ice cream, pumpkin bread, and sweet potato chips.
We did go to the Fair and it was a great experience!! We have one video up and one video still to upload.. Check the first one out if you have time ruclips.net/video/0NHQz_s2Chk/видео.html

The way to survive the Minnesota State Fair is to share practically everything, and to not to feel you must finish every single bite. We go every single year on opening day, fully aware it's expensive. But you save a fortune when you share it all. (We get our own bottomless milk, and know some favorites that only 1 of us like. Cheese curds are just the freshest form of cheese without being formed into anything like the wheel of cheese. It’s literally just the solid part of milk without the liquid Whey which that is dried for protein powders.

Deep fried ranch is easy put in bread or freeze it, coat it in batter and fry the hell out it. They likely froze ranch dressing solid, battered it and fried it as it was the easiest thing to do. If this was this year we didn't get anywhere near 105 degrees. It was actually a little cool this summer here in Minnesota. They must have read a broken thermometer lol. Maybe they were using the humidex.
That's my hometown ! I used to visit the fair multiple times every year up to my 30's, but I feel the vibe is so much different now it's no longer that enjoyable for me. It's like an artisan foods craft beer festival more than a fair now. And same goes with the midway, there used to be a huge outfit in there with REAL carnies and it was jam packed with people! It was fun to see you trying the weird and wonderful fair food. Was there on Labor Day, the last day of the Minnesota State Fair. I live just north of Minneapolis. Sad that you did not try the pickle pizza, its so good! Also there was a Peanut Butter Honey Cream Float that was also good. I went with a larger group and everyone tried different things. We tried to share. The pickle pizza is the clear winner for me. Had it last year too. I am bummed I did not get to try the fried ranch. So glad you had such a fun experience. Looks like you picked the hottest day.
I love seeing outsiders go to the MN state fair. We take pride in it being the biggest and best in the country. So many good/interesting food options it’s impossible to get them all in one visit. Hope you come back and try some more stuff next year!
Ya having the best time of your lives..Brush off the negative experiences!! Stay good and humble as you’ve already been!! I hope you guys don’t experience anything bad in our country!!
Heyyy family!!! Guess what i ate b4 i watched this time lol!! Idunno the food ummmm.... but i do love cheese curds!!!! Yummy!! Have fun winter appoaches lmao!!! Stay happy you two!!🎉
Just to be clear, Minnesota hasn't come close to 100 degrees this summer. I want to know when you went, however. My wife and I went twice and the lines were crazy long both times.
So I believe that for the deep fried ranch, they freeze the ranch first. Like cubes but probably in special made molds. Thats how they do deep fried Ice cream. Its blast frozen then coated and into the deep fryer for two or three dips. The cheese curds tacos and pork belly looks good! When in MN you gotta try a Juicy Lucy too!
I've been to the MSF many times and there are only a handful of things worth eating. I always stick with the Tom Thumb mini donuts, fresh roasted corn and of course Martha's Cookies! The corn is a life changer though. Picked the night before, roasted in front of you.....and then dropped into a VAT of butter and handed to you like an ice cream cone...its PERFECT!
Yay! So glad you guys were able to make it to Minnesota for the state fair. Love you guys. I hope you guys are enjoying your travels adventures in America.
State fair's in any state in America is 100% where you can find some of the weirdest, biggest, wildest most lavish foods anywhere in this great country. good idea this ! you have to try a different state next time though. There is unique, wild food at most state fair's. Some feature local inspired ingredients, like the colorado, new mexico state fair will have some unique spots featureing local grown chili's, peppers, that are local to the region like, Hatch green chilis. and pueblo chilis for the colorado state fair, etc.. washington state fair has more seafood type dishes. Oklahoma has anything and everything fried, as well as several crazy, weird unique local things. Oklahoma is a good one to go to.
Hey there, y'all! Glad you had such a good time in my home state. • The logistics of the deep-fried ranch dressing: They mix ranch seasoning and buttermilk powder into cream cheese, chill it, shape it, then panee it. • The weirdest thing is the pickle pizza. Which you didn't get to. At least, not in this video. • Of the two choices at the end, I'd keep the float, skip the sandwich, and the sandwich is the weirder of the two. And on the topic of weird foods, I keep waiting for the Koreans in Minnesota to come out with deep-fried kimchi. Personally, I think deep-fried radish kimchi or lotus kimchi would be the bomb.
You guys tried a lot of crazy food items, I’ve never seen at an American fair. The last two were definitely the weirdest. I would say the potato chip ice cream thing was the weirdest, but that corn milkshake definitely was the second weirdest fair food in the whole video. Thanks guys! Now I know what not to get next time I go to a fair 😂
What a beautiful gesture for your anniversary! Your bench will surely be a lovely spot for many memories at the fair. Next time we will have to search it out... Thanks for watching.
I haven't been down to the State in years now, but I was there every year of my life until I was 23 - I lived right on the fairgrounds & worked as an usher at the Grandstand & Colosseum shows in my teens/early 20s. It was a program for 4-H & FFA teens - it ended in the 1990s. I remember when Sweet Martha's Cookies were new! I lived on Sweet Martha's Cookies, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, World's Greatest French Fries, Roasted Corn on the Cob & Roasted Turkey Legs 😂 the food wasn't really very good at our dorm on Machinery Hill. I also lived on the Fairgrounds a couple other weeks through the summers in my teens for different 4-H camps at the 4-H Building. I'm very glad that it was never as hot in the 1980s & 1990s as it was this year!!
Wow, it sounds like you have some incredible memories from your time at the fair! Those food staples are truly iconic. It’s amazing how certain experiences stick with us over the years!
My vote is for the corn float. As for the ginger taste in the peach dessert most likely came from a cookie called a ginger snap which is similar in size to the vanilla wafer in the banana pudding in your previous episode 😊
Ok so I am a Minnesota State Fair fan boy. I’m 54 and have been to the fair every year except 2 since I was born. Usually 2 to 3 times per year. And I would have skipped both of those items. The deep fried ranch was surprisingly tasty. I love ranch cause, well, that’s how we roll in the Midwest. But I’ve never had that RCs barbecue. Wow that looked phenomenal. Definitely will be on my list next year.
Wow, it sounds like you have some serious State Fair dedication! I’m glad you enjoyed the deep-fried ranch and that RC's barbecue is now on your must-try list for next year! We have another video from the Fair to upload soon..
I hope you got some actual straight-up fried cheese curds while you were there. You don't usually commonly find them outside of dairy-producing areas because they haven't been processed into actual cheese yet and don't have a shelf-life like cheese does. My best description for people who haven't had them is that they have a taste similar to cheddar but melt like mozzarella when cooked. Uncooked have the texture of fresh paneer. They degrade in quality fast if they aren't eaten relatively soon after being made, but eaten fresh they are amazing.
The main trick for deep frying things that aren't completely solid, is to freeze them, then coat them in batter while they're frozen. The batter has to be just the right consistency, so that when fried it quickly hardens into a crispy shell that holds the molten interior in place. You keep it the whole thing frozen until you're ready to drop it into the frying vat, and the size of the middle part is calibrated so that it melts all the way to the center just about the time you have to take the thing out of the vat so the batter doesn't get too overdone. This method can be used to create all manner of abominations: deep fried peanut butter, deep fried honey, deep fried maple syrup, deep fried molasses, deep fried tapioca pudding, deep fried Cool Whip, deep fried ketchup, deep fried mayonnaise, deep fried honey mustard, deep fried butter, deep fried honey butter, deep fried sour cream, deep fried Dr. Pepper, deep fried root beer, deep fried lemonade, deep fried pickle juice, deep fried Dave's Insanity Sauce, ... Some of these have to be made bite-sized so you can eat the entire thing in one mouthful, because once you bite into the shell, the contents will all spill out. Others are thick enough to be a bit more forgiving. Deep fried buckeyes would be great, but I'm surprised they had them that far away from Ohio.
When frying liquids, you have to freeze it first, then batter it to seal the frozen liquid inside. Then freeze again for frying. There's also deep fried butter.
♥ My favorite Brits. What an amazing adventure! And I didn't even realize that Minnesota temperatures could reach105°. Thats too hot to enjoy anything but cold beer in an air conditioned bar. lol.. Props to you both for the sacrifice and the very creative and interesting videos. I was thoroughly entertained. Mila in Seattle. ♥♥
You are very brave! When I go to the Fair I usually limit my choices to a Pork Chop on a Stick, Mini Doughnuts, a Foot Long Hot Dog, Egg Rolls, Sweet Martha's Cookies, Ice Tea, Milk Shake (from the Dairy Barn) and Fresh Fruit (I don't have them all, those are just my choices) opting out of many deep fried offerings. You went above and beyond!
I haven't been to the state fair for years. I have enjoyed watching folks eat the food on Utube! I'll be having a pronto pup, corn on the cob , other classics before I spend any cash on the new foods next year. I might be able to save some money if I start my savings for the fair food now! Haha.

Good jobs guys, I really enjoy all the videos.
I love seeing outsiders go to the MN state fair. We take pride in it being the biggest and best in the country. So many good/interesting food options it’s impossible to get them all in one visit. Hope you come back and try some more stuff next year!
Stay tuned! We may have sent a second day at the fair!😉
Nicola's pick was weirdest. The float sounded kinda good, if a bit too sweet
Haha, you guys are great, thanks for coming to my home town!
🍻
Our pleasure!
Ya having the best time of your lives..Brush off the negative experiences!! Stay good and humble as you’ve already been!! I hope you guys don’t experience anything bad in our country!!
The Deep Fried snickers bar is one of the best things at the fair. the fried twinkies are good too.
We ate those as a kid all the time, I worked in Iowa 2 kilometers from the Twinkie factory the smell was awesome as you passed by
Heyyy family!!!
108 was the hear index. The temp was in the mid 90s
It was like 96 at the fair one day my guy
I really can't pick between those two. You both did really good with your picks.
Thanks for the info! We did try the jucy Lucy in the next video on our channel
Thanks for visiting our fair!! I too was out there on one of the hottest days!! So proud of our Mn state fair!
The Nortic Waffles line is usually 100 people deep on average, good time to go
Yeah, the 100 deg temps kept the lines short. It was a real shame it tasted great just looked sad! Thanks for watching
I love your stunned and confused reactions to so many of the foods!
Come to the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, NC. Expected attendance is around 200,000 people. Lots of food, music, and other entertainment.
Over 10 days, the MN fair had 1.9 million this year. One day was over 225,000 and another over 250,000.
Yay! So glad you guys were able to make it to Minnesota for the state fair. Love you guys. I hope you guys are enjoying your travels adventures in America.
Thank you so much! We're having an amazing time exploring Minnesota and all the fun the state fair has to offer! Thanks for watching
Nicola says woouh-tah and the lady customer service sure she heard u correct for water. lol
Thanks for sharing! The state fair was a great experience!!! we have another video to upload from the state fair soon..
For our 25th anniversary, my husband bought a commemorative bench for us at the MN State Fair. You're welcome to come back and use it any time!
@@thebritstry there were quite a few memorable moments in my teens at the fairgrounds!
My vote is for the corn float. As for the ginger taste in the peach dessert most likely came from a cookie called a ginger snap which is similar in size to the vanilla wafer in the banana pudding in your previous episode 😊
Love the energy. Just subscribed
Thank you!🤗
105 degrees is even too hot for the swimming pool. I'd stay indoors with the air conditioning turned up.
It was so hot and humid, it was crazy!!
@@thebritstry Was it worth it? I'm older and I can't even breathe in weather like that.
There used to be a water ride by the entrance, we'd always go get soaked and then walk around some more!
Same here
@DavidLS1 I agree
Charlie at RC's always does amazing food. Look forward to it every year.
Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm! We had a great time and have another video to upload very soon!! Thanks for watching
Such a great state fair! I went in 2003 and had everything on a stick! I hope you had an amazing day.
It was a great experience! watch this space we have more videos to come. Thanks for watching
You guys are always a joy to watch!
I’d love to see you two team up with the @koreanenglishman or @jolly channels 😊
I hope you got some actual straight-up fried cheese curds while you were there. You don't usually commonly find them outside of dairy-producing areas because they haven't been processed into actual cheese yet and don't have a shelf-life like cheese does. My best description for people who haven't had them is that they have a taste similar to cheddar but melt like mozzarella when cooked. Uncooked have the texture of fresh paneer. They degrade in quality fast if they aren't eaten relatively soon after being made, but eaten fresh they are amazing.
Great video! Happy you got to experience the MN State Fair!
Thanks so much! The MN State Fair was an amazing experience, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
and we get to 60 or more below in the winter
The humidity and dew point that first weekend was ridiculous. It kept a lot of people away. The next weekend however was far too crowded.
This is the second video I watched from you. You are a very charming couple and can't wait to view more.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad you're enjoying our content and can't wait to share more with you!
Sounds great! Thanks for the tips
I haven't been to the state fair for years. I have enjoyed watching folks eat the food on Utube! I'll be having a pronto pup, corn on the cob , other classics before I spend any cash on the new foods next year. I might be able to save some money if I start my savings for the fair food now! Haha.
It's kind of surreal seeing a video of the state fair. I'm Minnesotan and have gone to the state fair every year since I was born and it's cool seeing someone show it on a wider scale
That's awesome! The state fair truly has a special place in the hearts of Minnesotans. It’s great to share those experiences with a wider audience! and we have another video to upload soon!!!!
I was at the State Fair on a Thursday, should have been looking for you guys!
Andrew and Nicola are the cutest couple ever! Nicola is magnetic!
I gotta give it to the sweet corn cola drink. That's gotta be the weirdest thing I've seen. And I live here in Minnesota. I've been to the state fair several times. They always come up with something weird or every year. So definitely guys. Thank you for visiting my state fair. I thank you for giving us a chance. I hope you enjoyed your time. and enjoyed our food.
We had an amazing time in Minnesota it was beautiful (more videos to come) the state fair was a great experience and we will definitely have to revisit in the future
Some of the things I had that were my favorite were the cheese curd tacos, the alligator bites and Sweet Martha’s bucket of cookies.
Fairs are very weird: odd food, games, carnies, etc. IMO etc.
Deep-fried pickle ice cream wrapped in alligator meat with a jalapeno caramel glaze. Surprising good.
Wow! not sure we are that adventurous!😂 maybe next time! Thanks for watching
USA home of the deep fried everything. One of the things I love about the USA is we are willing to deep fry anything and try it at least once.
Thanks for watching!
Welcome to Minnesota! I'm a life long resident but I've only been to the state fair once - too many people!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome! The state fair was definitely crowded at some points during the day. Minnesota was a beautiful place. Thanks for watching
