This is a GREAT reel. I have a 6000 and a 4000 and have never even thought of buying any other reel. I've caught 150+ pound tarpon and 20+ lb slob snooks with ease, highly recommend it.
Quite underrated reel, many say Sienna is the bargain but it's not a patch on this reel. It's basically a Battle with graphite body which in a 2500 is a bonus as it's lighter, the sealing isn't as good but then again the Battle is not sealed all that well (though neither is it's Dawia/Shimano competition) - if you want great seals get a Spinfisher VI which is a superb reel all around.
It's a good reel my friends have them I can't find any out of stock. If your trying to get a few rods going quickly and don't have a ton of cash this is your reel . You get the big boy drag with out the price. It will last or you want a strong beater set up for those dirty areas and candy your better reels and rods you payed big money for not wanting to scratch them all up and get them all dirty or stolen when flying . This reel is a work horse.
Nope and its a little beefier due to they are designing it for that environment. It really is an awesome solid reel and NO REEL can compete with it at it's price point. This is easily 80-100 dollars build quality for 37 Bucks.
Its not sealed at all. It has "shielded" ball bearings. Whatever that means. GREAT REEL though, dont get me wrong. Got mine for $31 after tax on amazon last year .
Tomato tomato it's just the way I say it is all. They are either shielded or unshielded I guess I should have started that better but the reels do have seals to help with keeping water out of the bearings.
The only downside I can find about this reel is it is about 4 oz. heavier than other reels. For some people that is a game breaker. It isn't for me. And these are STILL going strong as of today.
Depends on what size reel. 2500 anything from Medium/light to medium heavy and 3000 and up goes from there. I have my 3000 matched to a 7" Tsunami Sea Tech rod
Extreme load, too heavy braid and the drag locked yes, but people catch big stripers on the east coast with these each year and if you destroy it, it is 36.00 buy a new one.
Good job, well built and light weight, got a 2500 for $39 and a 4000 for $49 on Amazon, 2500 combo with Pursuit lll 7ft rod for $59 from Tackle Direct (best rod packing ever)
Wait til you get it on the water they are rock stars for the money. I just bought another 2500 combo as well. Couldn't pass it up for under 70 bucks either.
@@SJBassin ya may be right now that I think about it. The battle is a decent reel but I was never really impressed with it. My Diawa BG is tough to beat though.
The Penn Pursuit 3 is absolutely the best value in the market. Awesome reels. I have a 6000 and a 2500 myself. And I love them!

It out fishes reels 3 to 4 times the cost
Absolutely fantastic video thank you for sharing my friend
Absolutely phenomenal reel!! I have the same model. I'm buying the 3000, 4000, and 5000 for all my go to set ups!!!
Max drag on 4000?
Will you be doing a video on repainting your car? asking for Earl Scheib.
Lol that's funny from someone who has to ride the short bus

This is one of the best made reels I know of for this price 🐟
That is cheap! Bigger than what I normally use but the 2500 is a common size for most people. Nice 👍
I own 4 of these reels can't beat them

Definitely a workhorse reel. They are still widely available on Amazon. Thanks for the comment!
Good stuff
I’ve been doing a lot of research and I still don’t know what parts are plastic I think it’s the rotor but I’m not sure
What is the other reel with the blue finish you are showing 😊
This is one of my favorite is reels
I guess it doesn't matter if you use it for freshwater?

what rod did you pair the penn with?

He mentioned the rod that the reel is matched with in his video 👍👍 tight lines.
I just got the 3000 and I'm wondering if its right handed or even switchable thanks
You can switch sides
Does it flex under load?
Extreme load, too heavy braid and the drag locked yes, but people catch big stripers on the east coast with these each year and if you destroy it, it is 36.00 buy a new one.

You base this on what?
Build, performance, looks it has the same drag as the battle 2 at a fraction of the cost. It's also designed for salt water usage all of 36.00
