Sounds like there is a mild slipping condition on the first upshift. Many years ago (1982) to be exact. I was on a Westchester County bus (became the Bee-Line) with the same engine as the bus in this video. It was vehicle #311 originally operated by Liberty Coaches and was manufactured in 08/1970. Could have been either a 1970 or 1971 (more likely) model. The transmission as it was trying to shift out of first gear slipped a number of times before it shifted into second gear. The engine speed would rise and fall around 3 or 4 times before the shift was complete. It did not make for a smooth ride. The transmission was later repaired. The model of the bus was T8H5306A which means it had factory A/C. The bus that you have did not come with factory A/C.
Few things here: The transmission is definitely older and tired. It could use an overhaul. Also, it could've been low on fluid and/or not warmed up enough. After a little bit of driving, it began to shift normally. As for AC, SF Muni got almost 400 of these fishbowls. 380 didn't have AC. 10 did. This is one of the buses that doesn't have AC. My friend bought and restored a SF Muni GM fishbowl with factory AC.
Like going home from school on the 28 line on 19th Ave. Lived near Stonestown. Thanks for the nostalgia.
Very impressive Detroit Diesel V-8 sound
Great share video new friend! Thank for sharing!
Awesome video!
I've seen 3210 in San Mateo in 2018.

Gears?
Damn it used to not slip when going to 2nd lol.
It's either a bit low on fluid or simply wasn't warmed up enough. After a few minutes, it began shifting normally again. XDDDD
@@L-Taraval Probably both lol.
Is it just me or does the bus look so old and decrepit
Well, it's over 50 years old, and the owner has a bunch of large spare parts inside that rattle around when we're driving.
