    I'm having a hard time understanding how much you can warm honey to separate it from frames and wax without messing up the taste and qualify of the honey? I hope someone has some advise. Part of the problem was insitigated because the frames were too heavy and when I put them in the extractor to spin the combs kept breaking off. So I was forced to do a crush and strain method with filters and warming.
    Another issue is that in the how to videos, they always show these perfect even frames, but most of my frames aren't flat. They are sort of uneven most of the time, and have bulges from the summer heat causing the frames to sag and then the bees fixing it. So its ackward trying to even uncap the frames.

    why do you need a best before date if honey never spoils?

    • @patrickwalsh6873
      @patrickwalsh6873 7 лет назад +1

      A very good question.
      The answer (just my opinion) is that many people are far more removed from the sources of good wholesome food than in the past, and oblivious to how food actually gets from nature onto the table. Consuming so much processed crap, it's probably difficult to believe that not everything they put in their mouths actually needs a sell-by date.
      A perfect excuse for the bureaucratic, nanny-state, health-and-safety Bullsh1t to show it's face.

      Lisa Spence honey can't spoil unless it's pasteurized, and unpasteurized honey is dangerous to kids because all honey contains spores that cause bottilism, so for humans to eat it safely you have to pasteurize it.

      This is a very misleading and inaccurate comment.

      this information is incorrect. Yes it is unsafe for a child under 12 months of age but it is very safe for everyone else to consume raw honey. Raw honey is the only food that never spoils and this is why i questioned the best before date. I currently buy form local beekeepers and their products do not have a best before date.
      Taken from baby centre website - Although honey seems like a wholesome and natural food to give your infant, don't do it until after she's at least 12 months old. Honey can contain spores of a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum, which can germinate in a baby's immature digestive system and cause infant botulism, a rare but potentially fatal illness.
