Dammit. Lee Ritenour played the guitar breakdown? Newfound respect to that man there. Miss the great days of music and surprise info like this.
So many great ones back in the day!
This band KILLED!! Especially Louis Johnson on the bass!!!!
Thanks for watching sylart57!
Shout out to Quincy Jones who discovered the Johnson Brothers who were teenage session players in Los Angeles who toured with the Billy Preston in their mid-teens. Quincy Jones produce the first four albums for them and had them work on Michael Jackson's first two solo albums " Off the wall and Thriller " as well as many other artists that you've heard of. Rip to Louis Johnson.
Great info, appreciate you sharing and watching!
I remember hearing this song on the radio when it was first released and had NO IDEA who sang it or what the song was called..... every so often over the years that little guitar riff would through my head and it kinda drove me crazy....since the 1970s!!..... it was only about 2 years ago that I was able to find out about the song.
Such a great song!
haha always crazy how music can stay with us! Thanks Andrew!
Strawberry Letter 23 is a classic of its era.
It is really good. Thanks An Cat!
I grew up with the Brothers Jonson version (i was 11 when it came out) and finally heard the Shuggie Otis original within the last three years, i highly suggest checking it out, it is different enough that i like them both equally!
Will do for sure. Thanks Mick!
Stomp is a CLASSIC! Ive been known to toss Stomp into my more disco-ey sets, and never disappoints.
haha love it!
You all need to react to "Aint We Funkin Now" by the Brothers Johnson. Its my all-time favorite song by them.
Will check that out for sure. Thanks!
Not even close 🍓 letter 23 is 💯🔥🔥
Thanks JS
Lee Written hour, legend guitar player
Thanks for Watching!
That chorus chant in STOMP is so good.
Totally agree. Thanks!
The 12 inch on that red vinyl is a little longer than any other version. The b side was pure instrumental of the song. It's a headphones song if there ever was one.
Stomp the album/12 inch version has a classic bass solo that the single version does not have.
Will have to check that out, appreciate the info and you watching!
quiet as its kept. the brothers did a remake of the beetles come together. worth the listen.
Will check that out, thanks!
Great musicians. Shout out to the drummer on this tune John “JR” Robinson. Drummer on many hit albums/songs “Rock with You” one example
Great shout, he is fantastic on this!

Strawberry Letter was released in 1977 it's a remake of a 1971 hit, Stomp was released in 1980. Micheal Jackson is singing background so is Luther Vandross look on the album credits.
Thanks for the info
Have to go with Strawberry letter 23. I loved this song from back in the day. I used to blast it on my stereo lol. I especially love the drums from 5:07-5:20.
Great point Steve those drums are next level!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics just subscribed to your channel. Great content!! I also like your reaction to the Lover Speaks, no more I love you's. Have you ever heard of a song called Avenging Annie by Andy Pratt from the70's ? It was later covered by Roger Daltrey but i prefer the original. If you get a chance check it out. Have a great day. I look forward to more great reactions.
Will check it out Steve. Thanks!
Nice bit of Brothers Johnson. My favourite version of this is Shuggie Otis' version. As with all Quincy productions, you can definitely feel his influence throughout the record.
For sure. Thanks Luke!
The Brothers Johnson were Quincy Jones studio set guys who went on their own.
That is awesome!
I'm all for Strawberry Letter 23 as the winner but Stomp was big at the skating rink
haha I bet! Thanks for watching!
Stomp Is a disco great
Shuggie Otis cover is way much better though that's a classic. Summer jam going back to when I was a kid that used to play all around the neighborhood in late 70s thru 80s still a classic I've super chatted that before in livestreams
Great memories for sure. Thanks Kev!
Dammit. Steve Porcaro played on stomp? My goodness. Just better musicians back in the day.
Agreed!
