I'd been busy & meaning to come back specifically to see this Ice Machine perform. I am satisfied that it also looked appetizing. Next I will have to someday check out it's price. But I liked it's free standing independence. That is what got my attention in the first place.

I have a very similar portable ice maker. I find to speed it up, I toss the first batch or two of ice into the reservoir for the water. Once the water is nice and chilled it fires off ice quickly. Sacrificing the first batch or so seems to speed it up rather quickly.

Cool science fact. Clear ice can be made 2 ways. One is to flash freeze calm water to keep the air bubbles down or you can vibrate the water aggressively as you freeze the water.

Looks like a good way to top up on the go, but not to establish a base line. As well, I'd be the temperature of the ice is higher than what comes out of the freezer. I'd also be uncertain about the volume it would be able to produce vs what you really need. But if it works for you...

Just a quick food handling tip: do not store the scope with the clean ice.
If you will be selling food, you should take a food handling course, which you can probably find online. The FDA has requirements, and here in FL, the state’s Dept of Ag has them, too.
Do check your state laws. For example, here in FL one cannot butcher on the farm...has to go to a certified butcher. (Yet hunters can butcher their kills wherever they want, leaving the remains piled on the side of the road, thrown in a ditch, or wherever...)
Also, the federal rules allow sale of “nest run” eggs...the unwashed eggs collected directly from the nest...so long as there is no visible dirt or poop on the eggs, yet FL requires all eggs sold be chemically washed and chemically coated, and further requires that this washing take place in a triple commercial sink with a commercial grade sewage system. The law just makes the blanket statement that no residence has such commercial grade facilities, no residence will ever be considered for the license required to sell eggs. The state also cut off the work around that people were using of labeling some foods as “pet use” by upping the requirements for pet foods, too.
This is what happens when government serves the interests of big corporations over the small businesses and start ups: the lobbying groups woo the politicians into passing laws that prevent competition from folks like us.
I am getting the heck out of this state, yet these laws are being snuck into the books across the nation...and no it is not just one side or the other...FL turned R after Gov Chiles’s long run, and Jeb elevated in his crooked family connections (look up Texas banks and King Ranch connections to FL sugar industry to start digging that ugly little rabbit hole).
Now Gov Skeltor and his crew of frauds have had their turn, too, but the D politicians are also now just as much corporate puppets, thanks to the influence of the Clinton Cabal.
Lol! Sorry for the rant...I get a bit pissy seeing ordinary people purposely cut off from potential income opportunities.
So, anyway, just cover your tail from the get go and make sure you can’t get shut down for a little mistake...

This beats the hell out of my SNO Whynter IM-15 icemaker. That ice comes out cloudy, like refrigerator ice. I bought it because it said it'd make ice that can fit thru the neck of a pop bottle, but it did a lot better with the large size, so never mind. :/ Your icemaker is prettier & makes glacier ice!! Which is what everyone wants! A professional icemaker in my former law office made glacier ice, which doesn't melt nearly as fast as cloudy ice, since it's not full of air pockets. That device is NICE!! lucky you

I think bacteria can grow in portable ice makers that aren't constantly kept at a frozen temperature. If you plan on turning this thing on and off, I would suggest a good wipe down with a chlorine bleach and water solution each time it is turned off and that it be drained thoroughly between uses. Also, if you must stick your hand in there, I'd advise latex gloves. I also noticed the cubes were stuck together which shouldn't happen. An ambient temperature problem, perhaps?

Pamela Martin Vinegar is a safer alternative and may even kill e coli, but it will not kill staphylococcus. Hydrogen peroxide kills staph.
All of these choices will leave a residue, however, which should be removed by making a test batch of ice and tossing it away. Similar to the procedure of using vinegar to descale a coffepot or kettle..

Great product review . wonder if it tells you what temp it keeps the ice at.? most freezers are set to -5 if I remember correctly, ...but could range anywhere from -3 to -7 or whatever you set your freezer temperature to, ...because some people like there ice cream harder or softer...LoL ...is there a temp control gauge on this model.? ... reason being is I find "colder" ice . as in "harder" ice cream . will last longer before it melts...
P.S. you should get a kickback if your selling there product for them . or a lump sum.. I think people that know you "even if only from you-tube" trust and value your opinion...

I can’t say. We only ran it long enough to fill the tub. First tray dumped after about 22 minutes. Each tray after took about 9 minutes. So the tub fills about every 90 minutes then you add more water to the reservoir.

Thank you for the quick reply. When you guys actually use this for your business, please do make another short follow-up video to showcase your results. I am curious to see what you can get out this in a day to see how long it really takes to make a viable amount for what you want to use it for. I am using these ice bags: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00INV51ZM/ref=detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with the unit you did the demo on. There are probably cheaper ones out there but my immediate application is to make enough bags of ice for a birthday party this weekend. Take care.

The biggest glaring problem to me is the fact you have a flimsy plastic tub and a flimsy plastic scoop. That in it's self isn't too bad.
The issue is the ice doesn't come out in cubes, it's cubes frozen to a sheet of ice. If you attempt to use the scoop to break the ice like you did in the video, not only does it not work, but your likely to break one of them and end up with plastic shards on your ice and end up tossing it all out.
Tldr: plastic pieces break easier than ice so the scoop and basket are useless

Could you be any more dramatic about ice?

Haven't had a problem with mine. Over two years of use. Basket in good shape. If you don't like the scoop (I don't), use tongs. My wife and her brother just reach in with their grubby hands.

That is woefully undersized for a food truck. Not being commercial grade isn't going to help much either.

Dorothee P. That's true. I triple filtered pristine spring water before using it in a portable ice maker. It's the air.

no, you just have to let the water freeze as slow as possible.

To me clear ice is just not as cold or solid as whiter ice. I'm sure a clear cube ice will melt quicker. I ordered this same machine yesterday but I ll bag and store these cubes in my chest freezer ... which will end up whiter and not so clear lol, I just need ice daily.

Then don't buy a clear ice maker. You 'clearly' don't want or need one. Buy a regular ice maker. Now then, it's that simple.

@@paulcrossgrove5353 lol, I dont care if it's clearer or not. My point is the reason why it may be clearer. As I said I just needed ice and this one one of the best options available at the moment that fit what I was willing to spend. Just sharing my opinion, its that simple.

You may not need to buy an ice machine to achieve clear ice. Just boil some water and then freeze it and it should be clear.
