This was absolutely amazing! I loved the gore, especially from the battle and how you portrayed the action. The ending reminded me of the movie Dances with Wolves. Excellent job, continue to make great content like this.
Very cinematic, as a film student you’ve blown me away. A better portrayal of the American civil war than nearly any Hollywood movie to date! A job well done!
This may be not only the best civil war stop motion, but maybe one of the best civil war movies of any kind. The brutality of combat, moments of humanity, great shots and effects, overall an incredible video. Hope to see more in the future.
This is the greatest stop motion battle of all of toy army men stop motions. i can't believe this only got 541 likes and 23k views. This video should win a award om my gosh its so good!!!!!!
This is absolutely masterful!!! Not only from a technical standpoint but also a dramatic one-I expected to see a light-hearted portrayal with “toy soldiers” but quickly realized it was not. And as an owner of many BMC\Americana brand plastic soldiers, it was cool to see how you used the different static poses to create the illusion of movement of individual soldiers. It was also fun to try to spot which ones were conversions of the standard poses.
Glad I'm not the only Americana enthusiast around RUclips. I wanted to try something new to my vids in terms of depicting gore. The Civil War was the perfect event to portray the brutality of war.
Man, you don't know how much your channel inspired me to do stop-motion animation. What can I say? I learned from the KING 👑. P.S. when is your next vid coming out? It's been so long 😅
@@morammofilmsph1540 Ha! Your civil war animation has inspired me to try and do my own civil war clip. I'm just setting up the scenery and backdrop. It will be a while....
This hands down is one of the best army men films to date the effects were very good, the story was impressive and immersive, the animation was very smooth and the set design was incredible. Keep it up
I am personally not very attached any type of Civil War stop motion, or the history behind it but the stop motion was so great that it made me want to learn about it. Great stuff man.
this was such a good civil war stop motion! i have a bunch of the same civil war soldiers like these and i love them. cutting pieces off of the soldiers to make this stop motion was very creative, especially with putting the sword on a union soldier that is bare handed
I'm a hugh toy soldier collector , but I'm really not big on stop motion but this was amazing. Love your work.I've posted plenty videos on my 1/32 scale collections but never did a stop motion with them. Keep doing what you're doing.
This is a true work of art. You captured Cold Harbor so well. This is one of the best videos I have seen on RUclips in some time, and I will keep watching. I am a long-time battlefield photographer, working on a new channel, Civil War relic and photography collector, and painted soldier collector.
Amazing work man the brutality you show is incredible and realistic love the use of some practical effects and also that you made it in the civil war that you don’t always see, good job 👍
It could be a masterpiece as I always thought the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse was put on film somehow. A solid oak tree was cut down just from musket fire and smoldered; dead men were shot to pieces since they couldn't fall in the packed mass of two sides hammering away at each in a driving thunderstorm. Wounded men and horses were trampled and disappeared into the bloody muck as the men passed loaded muskets to the front in an endless stream of fire that was the most relentless in the history of warfare up to that point.
This is one if not the single greatest stop motion of all time, from a skill and historical standpoint. Please never stop making content. Keep up the amazing work.
This is absolutely amazing I have those exact same soldiers but not as many I have like 20 of them I have over a 5 gallon bucket of civil war soldiers and when I make civil war stop motion I’m always inspired by this . Ps: I can’t wait for chosin Korean War film
Great Video but I want to add to the disclaimer, I am in no way saying that you are wrong or even that you shouldn't even mention it. But, I am just throwing it out there for those who think warfare back then was more brutal than modern combat. Trust me, there are those people. Warfare, even now can be very brutal. Now, we aren't facing a cannon that'll fire like a gigantic shotgun (canister) and face impending death marching in a line. But we face a new fear. Drones that'll drop ordinance on you while you sleep or go in patrol. The enemy ambushing you in smaller numbers from afar. Snipers that'll hit their target in 2x if not more the distance than a sniper of the 19th century. Machine guns that fire rounds faster than you can get to cover. Even by the MG42 standards of the 20th century. It doesn't compare to the M134 (mini gun) M61 Vulcan and GAU-8 Avenger. It is also scary when radar isn't able to detect enemy missiles or aircraft. I also forgot to mention the use of missiles being launched from ships or vehicles to hit enemy positions. Modern warfare is just as brutal. It's just the technology and fighting tactics that has changed and the use of brutal ordinance like the Canister and Carcass shot are not even mentioned as artillery shouldn't be that close to the front unlike older artillery.
I agree. There'd be no point in comparing what warfare was then and now because all wars are just as brutal and horrendous. Not much has changed on how lives are violently taken away by instruments of death besides its technological advancement. thank you for pointing that out.
Awesome approach and creation. Love the figures. I think this would have really benefited from your painting the figures. Seeing them in blue and grey, infantry, artillery and cavalry would have been great. Regardless great effort.
Great work!! Keep up the hard work!! Can't wait to see the next one!! What will be your next stop motion? I can't wait for you to tell me!! Also just subbed to your channel as well! :D
Best use of practical effects I've seen. Great Job!. What did you use for blood & guts? The cotton smoke was great too. I havent been able to achieve its use as good as u did. Well done!
The blood and guts were red clay and cotton balls soaked in fake blood. For the smoke effect, I used very tiny strips of cotton and moved them against my phone's camera. Took quite a while to pull it off tho lol.
@@morammofilmsph1540 it paid off. i find practical effects seem underwhelming maybe the need a light on them or something. but uv managed to make them look great. After a rewatch. Man this vid is brutal.
What plastic army men company did you use? OR, are they the Hobby Lobby ones? Because I could only fine 1 company, BMC, that makes the men with swabs/raming rods for cannons but also they can almost Hobby Lobby civil war designs
OH MY WAS THIS AN AMAZING STOP MOTION!!! Good work man, the amount of effort and detail you put on this shows that you care about your work. I hope you exceed over 1000 subs because I see that you put a bunch of effort on your films. Have a wonderful day!
That was almost too real. Grant was a good general in the fact that he knew how to use his superior numbers in the face of the confederates in that he would lose alot of men but slowly wear down Lee and his men. This coming from a southerner, if Lee had fifty thousand more men it would have been a different story.

Gettysburg(1993)

Gods and Generals(2003)
Hey i was wondering what is your next stop motion going to be based on?
Holy crap this was a good video! If you make another you should do the battle of sharpsburg.
Yep I agree with you that he should
@@matthewskudzienski888there were alot more like some sfx from history channel and some from free state of jones
It was so realistic, its a masterpiece man I really love it, the brutality, sounds and practical effects, just wonderful.
Thanks for the video share, ATS. very much appreciate your help!

Thank you! I'm an aspiring film student, so hearing your insights gives me hope that I'll do just fine when I enroll for film school!
There arent very many good ACW stop motions out there, thia exceeded my expectations, I certainly hope to see you revisit this time period.
