A Scottish man playing an Egyptian with a Spanish name and a Shcottishh accent opposite a French man playing a Scot .... and it somehow works wonderfully !
Who disses haggis.
LOL I was going to mention that
He's Belgian
Isn't he scottish really tho, as the kurgen stabs him, he says my country has improved you're english.
Scottish/spamish/Egyptian/Japanese
He's been around.
He's the original Highlander, that's why he comes to help!
@@tremorsfanpeople that have tasted it 😂
This was one of Clancy Brown's first movies. He took ZERO pay to make it, just to be in a movie with Sean Connery. I love how over the top he is in this movie. You can tell he really enjoyed his role.
My first Clancy Brown film was "Bad Boys" with Sean Penn
Chris Lambert was excellent in "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan".
Agreed
I came here to say this, it was a bigger film than this one when released. I also liked him in Subway, an early Luc Besson film.
I heard hes almost legally blind without his glasses. So he injures alot of stuntmen.
Oh gods Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my opinion his best movie and the best Tarzan adaptation ever.
I saw Highlander opening night. I am not kidding I was wearing white running shoes, blue jeans, light blue cotton shirt, brown leather bomber-jacket, and a green trench-coat. And I"m Scottish! After the movie I was The Highlander! I ran down the street yelling "There can be only one!"
And it's not you! Just kidding. 😀
Don’t believe that for one second
Don't lose your head !!!
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
The idea of the movie came from Gregory Widen, a UCLA film student on vacation in Scotland. He entered this museum of sorts, and saw a beautifully restored suit of armor and thought, "I wonder if tge guy who wore this was alive right now? What if you owned all of this and you're telling your life story?"
The title of the script was Shadow Clan, then THE DARK KNIGHT, and finally Highlander.
The script was a lot darker and violent than the movie itself:
Connor MacLeod was born in 1408 rather than 1536.
He leaves his home after learning he's immortal rather than being banished.
Rather than Russell Nash, MacLeod goes under the name Richard Turpin.
Ramirez is actually a Spaniard rather than an Egyptian and was born in 1100.
He trains MacLeod to become a better swordsman. It takes Ramirez 6 years rather than 6 months.
The Kurgan goes under the name Carl William Smith, and instead of being a savage warrior, he's a cold blooded killer.
Immortals do have children, as MacLeod visits the funeral of one of his sons, while his other sons, all in their 40's-50's see him as an immortal.
There is no mention of The Prize, and when an immortal is beheaded, nothing happens. Its left ambiguous on whether or not MacLeod is still immortal after defeating The Kurgan.
Thank you for telling that. I´m a fan since it came out^^ What was the purpose instead of the prize? Just the thrill of mess with another immortal?
this actually sounds more workable for a remake, perhaps make the children of Imortals create the Watchers group, it began with their children following and chronicling they're parents journeys but after millenium they became an international orginazition that watches over all imortals when found.
Are you on any of the fan pages on FB?
Actually, I read the last, pre-shooting script and it wasn't very violent at all, being instead more like a Harlequin romance novel focused on the love story between Connor and Brenda. But it probably went through several iterations before that, and the actual shooting script is basically what we see.
A little-known fact about a cut scene in this movie; The vigilante who got stabbed by Kurgan is reported by the doctor to have started healing unnaturally fast, which implied that he could (or had) become a new immortal. This would have made for a better angle for the sequel than the nonsense they came up with. :D
In all the years thatI've been a fan of this movie I've never realized that before!
I always thought it was a side effect of being caught up in the quickening, not that he was becoming an immortal.
I just want to acknowledge Mr. Movies engagement in discussion without ruining the plot. 10/10
The only thing I know about this movie is that the soundtrack is mostly done by Queen which makes the movie 100x better!
"Is this Styx? Or is it Starship?"
OMG! That earned an incredulous belly laugh from me! HIGHLANDER and Queen are synonymous.
The love story with his wife, Heather, gets me every time, I get teary every time I see it. Especially with that Queen song playing!
what gets me is that she never told him what happened to her. she probably saved his life because at the time he was so shit at fighting lol.
Yeah, me too.
Who Wants To Live Forever. One of the most beautiful songs ever, in my own opinion.
Highlander was a great 80s fantasy film. Its a shame no sequels were ever made. No other sequels ever came out. This is the only piece of media to exist about Conner Macleod.
Yep, and there's absolutely no need to look any further into it.
His first blockbuster movie was actually "Greystrokes, The Legend of Tarzan"
Many forget he was Lord Raiden in the first "Mortal Kombat" film too
I cant stress this enough. DO NOT WATCH THE SEQUELS. Why? There can be only one.
The second one literally has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. The TV series isn't too bad though.
Words of wisdom.
This is a genuine public service announcement.
You can watch the TV series tho
There can be only one!
It's definitely a mix of the awesome Queen soundtrack and just being what every little boy in the 80's wanted to see in a film. Simple, to the point, weirdo bad guy, and sword fighting. Also worth noting that Lambert also had a bit part in the Coen Brother's "Hail, Caesar!"
Clancy Brown's also in "Hail Caesar".
Slightly different but great is ray Stevenson in Rome a great believer in the 13th watch to learn significance
"He's having a 'previous life PTSD."
More commonly known as a 'memory'. 😉
When Mrs. Video asks if the artist was Stix or starship....the face he makes and the slow disappointed head shake had me laughing for 20 minutes. and then when she realizes it was Queen al along and her own disappointment at not getting it. lol.
I saw this movie when it originally hit the theaters back in 1986. It was a great experience seeing it for the first time. It was the first time I saw 'Clancy Brown' in a role. He was so young and scary as hell in his role. It drives me crazy when people say they know him best from Sponge Bob. Whenever I think of Clancy Brown I automatically flashback to 'Highlander'. Must be an age thing.
The music was fantastic.
Clancy Brown did not get paid much for this movie but he took the role because he would get to work with Sean Connery.
That or sergeant zimm
And don't forget Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot.
I automatically think of Lex Luthor when I hear the name Clancy Brown.
He played Rawhide in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzaii Across the 8th Dimension in 1984.
We used to get hammered watching this in college. First “Buckaroo Banzai,” now “Highlander.” If they fit in the original “Deathrace 2000,” my 2023 will be complete! I really like you guys so I will say this: bag the rest of the franchise; it’s all bad. Christopher Lambert played Tarzan in “The Legend of Greystoke.”
Deathrace 2000 is very underrated.
not all bad. sure 2 has problems but can be fun to watch and 3 isnt so bad with mario van pebbles. Endgame is ok, but the real issue is the Adrian Paul shit series ruining the entire story and background. Adrian Paul sucks in everything he's ever done.
more importantly, he played Raiden in the OG good Mortal Kombat movie.
OG Deathrace 2000 is an excellent recommendation!
TV series was pretty good though
Interesting facts about Highlander (1986) All of Sir Sean Connery's scenes had to be filmed in a week, due to Connery's schedule. He had a bet with director Russell Mulcahy that they would not finish in seven days, but Mulcahy won the bet. Connery earned $1 million for his week's work. (2) Sir Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert got along so well during filming that they called each other by their characters' names even when they were not filming, and it was at Lambert's insistence that Connery and his character returned for Highlander II: The Quickening (1991). (3) After filming the scene where The Kurgan confronts MacLeod in the church, Clancy Brown apologized to the Priest and nuns there for his character's dialogue, for fear that he had offended them. (4) The cast had such a good time doing the movie, they filmed additional scenes for free, detailing Macleod's relationship with his assistant. (5) Christopher Lambert had just barely learned to speak English when he took this role. The only other English-speaking movie he had been in at that point was Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984), in which he spoke only a few words.
Classic 80's awesomeness! Clancy Brown steals the show in this movie!
Thanks for this one!
Brown is always good at playing the bad guy in movies.
Clancy's great as the heavy but I also liked him in his small role in the movie "Chump Change" (2000). He was hilarious in that one as a snobby acting coach.
He'll always be Rawhide to me (but then Buckaroo Banzai is my touchstone for just about everything!)
@@kartaan The Advetures of Buckaroo Banzai could be the greatest movie ever made.
The movie is from a book written by Gregory Widen while he was in college. He sold the script and became famous after the movie was adapted. Best viewed on the big screen...
The director Russell Mulcahy was a big time music video director in the early years of MTV he was responsible for a lot of the Duran Duran videos as well as others. He directed the first video shown on MTV, Video Killed the Radio Star.
He then moved into directing films like this one. You can definitely see the music video touches especially in the final battle.
He also directed the underrated Alec Baldwin version of "The Shadow".
Russell and I went through the same drama school together back in our younger years. He went on to do some pretty amazing stuff. I just went on...
I watched it as a kid. One of the rare stories where the good guy is immortal and has to find an ethical way of renewing his identity.
21:20 Rachel's back story wasn't in the original American theatrical release, but it was in the other countries' version and in the first VHS video release. Even without that scene, it was clear that Rachel was one of, if not the only, human confidant Connor had for decades.Even without the WW2 scene his farewell line to her: "Hey. It's a kind of magic" was very touching, but giving it that context as a callback to when they first met makes it more effective.
Anyone remember Highlander the series? It was just as good as the movies, in my opinion.
duncan mcleod from the same clan
@@DaviDamir Yep!
I love the series. I love Joe and Adam. R.I.P Stan Kirsch 😪😪
I hope you watch Highlander II. Not only do the two leads come back, but so does the director and one of the writers. Oh, and it's a masterclass in throwing things against the wall and seeing what sticks, with stunning production design and a premise that will raise serious questions about what the filmmakers were on when they made it. The late Roger Ebert said it best: "This movie has to be seen to be believed. On the other hand, maybe that's too high a price to pay."
Yeah it's worth a watch even if it's just to see if you won't like it Sean Connery is great in it and so was Virginia Madison.
@@samellowery Correct. And who DOESN'T like Michael Ironside hamming shit up like nobody's business?!;)
The TV show had Duncan McCloud a younger ancestor than Connor McCloud, played by Adrian Paul.
One of my all time favorite movies. It’s just so epic and entertaining. The transitions from present day to the past are some of the most unique and creative I’ve ever seen. Clancy Brown is so good and terrifying as Kurgan. I think he’s one of the greatest movie villains ever. It’s too bad the 2nd movie is one of the worst movies ever made. The 3rd and 4th movie are ok but don’t compare to the original.
I enjoy Highlander: The Final Dimension... Mario Van Peebles is cool
it's not just the absorption of the Person's power it is also the Person's Life Force, Memories and Knowledge which would include Fighting Skill and Style.
Sean Connery was such a striking looking man, who else could carry off peacock feathers, maroon jewelled velvet and a pearl ear ring with such confidence ! This movie is a bit of it's time these days, but when it was first released it was fabulous! The soundtrack by Queen is just perfect, especially Who Wants to Live Forever! I cry every time at that scene... Love how seriously you both took this, so many reactors just laugh through it. Respectful reaction, cheers 👏
Great to see all the Highlander fans in the comment section 🤘
I just knew fer sure that Mrs. Movies was gonna be thrown by this one. Lol I'm glad she liked it. It's kinda touch and go with some people.
I've loved this since I was 10 years old. I hung in there for all the shitty sequels (the 3rd one is half decent. It didn't take much for me to rewrite it into a great sequel) and every season of the series (which is based on his cousin Duncan).
I think part of the fascination for me over the years has been learning all the secrets. The screenplay, the production notes that nobody on RUclips ever talks about (check out the 10th Anniversary DVD), and the novelisation (in which they couldn't sense each other and it goes into Kurgan's backstory, he's older than Ramirez). It's all a melting pot for me when I watch it now ☺️
I'm pretty sure the becoming mortal and fertile thing at the end was something they threw in last minute. It's not in any of those other versions and even Ramirez says "man would suffer an eternity of darkness" if Kurgan won 🤷♂️
Also the big demon thing at the end was last minute. Originally, we would have seen Connor experiencing the lives of other people all over the world.
They're basically telepathic energy sinks who are a part of nature. One in every some-odd million people were just born immortal.
Sorry to go off on a rant like this, there's a lot more. Lol
Chris Lambert was also in the first Mortal Kombat. The Highlander tv series was about his cousin Duncan, with Lambert guest staring in the pilot.
They both were in Highlander: Endgame.
A favorite of mine for Lambert in the Hunted. Was also in the second Ghost Rider movie
Greatest Soundtrack in HISTORY (Queen Album "It's a kind of magic", one of my first CD's), also the TV Show originally aired on network tv (I forget which network, but I did watch some of it back in the day) in the USA and later in syndication on other networks, but it was an international show with lots of it being filmed in France. much of the movies and tv shows are "parallel universes" as they don't fit the full established canon of the end of this movie, but no prequels, just flashbacks within the story.
Cristopher Lambert also played Tarzan in Greystoke. That one was pretty famous back in the day. So not only Highlander.
Now, you can see why this won the Oscar for being the "Best Movie Ever Made."
One of my favorite films from my childhood. The music by Queen is amazing! ⚔️
Because I was into martial arts, I loved the sword fighting and the warrior lore. I love Sean Connery. I loved the romantic aspects. I love Queen's music, I was a fan of Christopher Lambert since he earned praise from critics for performance in 1984's "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes" which was his breakthrough English language movie.
The true irony of that movie is that it's closer to the original books than most adaptations - only the recent one with Alexander Skarsgard comes close to the accuracy. Including the fact that the first human he meets is a French-speaking explorer. (Edit: Though in the books he meets Jane after he goes to "civilization", not in Africa.)
10:30 Candy is about to have a very bad night.
13:17 Jinx! Owe me a Coke (or a beer). 🍺
23:37 Among the many excellent elements of this movie, the absolutely brilliant soundtrack.
I rented a lot of terrible, super-cheap films in the 80's, always hoping to strike gold. I felt like Highlander delivered. It was surprising, cool, action-packed, and even though it seemed to be low-budget at the time, fully delivered in terms of visuals. The story and action scenes are probably the highlights, but the emotional content is pretty compelling given how pulpy the story is. The Queen soundtrack is incredible and can be heard on their album "A Kind of Magic". The song that always gets me is the haunting and gorgeous instrumental, piano version of "Forever". Damn if I could write anything nearly that lovely, I'd just drop dead right now :P
"Just make sure it's hangin'." LOL, so romantic.
I saw this film so many times. First time was a couple of years after it came out when I was in grade school. The film may not be perfect but the soundtrack sure is. Hell, who am I kidding. The film is perfect.
The TV series is set after the movie ends. A reveal that only the oldest and most powerful immortals were involved in the Gathering. Younger ones are still hanging around.
I like it because it's a swords and sandals movie contemporised, and due to the nature of the story the movie can't suffer from being dated. It just becomes a period piece.
Rachel was fully aware of connors immortality as she helped him shift identities as the decades passed
Clancy Brown is one of my favorite actors. He can play just about any part and be great at it. And he is still at it. He was just in John Wick 4 and nailed that part also.
He's the best Lex Luthor.
@@christopherb501
You are absolutely right! That is just how good he is. Just using his voice and acting skills he IS the best Lex Luther.
Gene Hackman and Kevin Stacey are no slackers in talent, so that's saying alot. I feel they're performances where a little too humorous. And I won't mention the no talent putz playing him in the newer film. Stinker!
"Knight Moves" with Christopher Lambert is also a great movie. He plays a professional chess player who is suspected of murder. One of my fav crime movies.
I never saw the director's cut before. I suspected that Rachel knew of Conner's immortality and I am glad you showed the backstory in this video.
It's so weird that there's a portion of the world that never grew up with this. The NZ release I grew up with has always been this cut.
@@KyleS3m3noff Yeah I was wondering what @Gridania was referring to, then I remembered. The US theatrical version was a very different cut.
Hunh. I always saw this in the original. Not sure what may have been added.
"How do you get into a wrestling match with a sword?"
"How do you not?"
I know you guys watched Police Squad not that long ago. Not sure if you recognized Frank the police detective. He played Leslie Nielsen's partner in Police Squad.
My first introduction to Queen was a record with the soundtrack for this movie owned by a classmate of mine.
I'm old enough to have seen this in the theater when I was in high school. I looooved it. I'm not sure it necessarily holds up the way Star Wars did, but it's still in my Top 10.
26:24 Fun Fact about this scene... All three of the actors involved in this scene were also in at least one "Star Wars" project... The ex-Marine was the Rebel pilot who found Han & Luke on Hoth in "The Empire Strikes Back"... The Immortal, Kastagir, was Captain Panaka in "The Phantom Menace"... and Clancy Brown did voices for "The Clone Wars" (Savage Oppress) and "Rebels" (Ryder Azadi) and he acted in an episode of "The Mandalorian" (Burg)...
Sweet I didn't realize that super cool fact
The Reason why Conner could trust Brenda knowing and protecting His Immortal Secret is because to Brenda Conner is her golden Ticket in getting historical factual Information and can also point her in the right direction in finding Stashed away really old Swords since all the Memories of all the Immortals are now in Conner's head since he is the last one left standing.
That sounds like he's going full Animus on finding the Pieces of Eden …
Nah, I think he just wants to live his life to the end with someone he loves and who understands what he went through.
Chuffed to bits you watched this! Clancy Brown as The Kurgan is probably my 2nd favourite villain - first being Christopher Walken in The Prophecy (1995). I really hope you get round to watching it, definitely one of the best bits of casting in a horror/fantasy.
It's interesting you mention Christopher Walken's performance in The Prophecy as being your favorite villain, since The Prophecy was written by Gregory Widen, the same person who created Highlander.
@@mattray4876 ah, I didn't know that. Spooky. Guess the dude really knows how to create villains! 😄
Vigo Mortenson as Satan in "The Prophecy" is also awesome. Although he was only in it briefly.
Totally! An utterly terrifying cameo. The whole movie has such a great tone. I really hope they add it to the list to watch.😁@@adgato75
Braveheart and Highlander have another thing in common - both films are full scenes that never actually happened.
Queen did the soundtrack to this movie and it was spectacular.
The main theme and some score was done by Michael Kamen, R.I.P.
Hands down one of the greatest films of all time, and man does this movie make me want to visit Scotland, so much of it looks like a beautiful post card
Loved this and grew up watching the TV series, I definitely recommend it, but it's not actually about Connor, but Duncan Macleod, Connor's cousin.
TV Series>the sequels 😂
I paused about 21 seconds in for one reason.
Highlander: One who is from the Scottish Highlands
Immortal: One of a race of beings who cannot die unless their heads are taken and with it, their powers
Connor is a Highlander and has always been a Highlander but it wasn't until after he was "killed" in battle that he was resurrected an Immortal. Juan Sanchez Villa Lobos Ramirez was born under the name Tak-Ne in Egypt, hence why he said he was actually Egyptian. Ramirez was not a Highlander. He was an Immortal. Kurgan was Russian but still an Immortal. Just something I have to clear up because I keep hearing people refer to Immortals as Highlanders and I wanna respond with "Where is that character from? Don't worry, I'll wait."
Oh and that opening monologue from Sean Connery. He literally phoned it in...from his bathroom. That's why there's an echo.
The only thing about the movie that irritated me was the way Kurgan killed Connor at the first of the movie. I mean who opens themselves up like that when you have a sword and a shield to protect yourself?
Christopher Lambert (the Highlander) is in a few English language films (I think his other "hit" was Greystoke, a retelling of the Tarzan story which *I think* was before this) but he was/is quite big name in France and before this he had a really big hit in a Luc Besson film Subway (which I remember as Metro, so that might have been the French title).
I get the impression he is a proper actor, if you know what I mean, but when he got his break in English language movies he seemed to go for big movies rather than, you know, character driven stuff or whatever hoping to make it big, but it didn't really happen for him - the Highlander sequels are all dross for instance (please, please, please do not watch them, you will not like them).
He's been in Oscar nominated foreign films several times (most recently in 2018) so he's still a big name abroad - he just never really quite made it in Holywood.
He also played Raiden in the 90's on the 1st Mortal Kombat movie.
I always thought Highlander was essentially vampires, plus swords and minus blood. So many of the themes are similar, and it allows for some fun philosophy and 'time travel'. 'Highlander' is just a great mythos and the TV series, though PAINFULLY 90's, had some great storylines e.g. the impact technology is making on Immortals being able to change their identity; what happens if you become Immortal as a child; what is you get trapped somewhere but not killed?
The quintessential 80s cheese movie. I love it so.
"Are you ready to grab your sword and go at it" ... I'm sorry the innuendo is just too darn good 😅
He was Tarzan, and a few others. BUT he was in The Hunted, a fantastic movie where he stumles between ninja who are assiasins, and the samurai who must keep him safe.
Really, really good movie. The train scene is unbelievable
Yes! I have finally found another fan of The Hunted in the wild! Fantastic movie :)
I liked what Mister said about it being simple-out-outlandish. And Queen's soundtrack is always epic. Watch the TV series if you like - it does explore more the mythology and world building. As I said earlier, though, avoid the rest of the movies AT ALL COSTS. We're not exaggerating.
Growing up on Long Island I always loved seeing the sign for Silvercup Studios on the roof as we were coming home from NYC. The sign destroyed in the movie was not the actual but looked just like it.
This movie was the beginning of my love of swords. DON'T WATCH THE SEQUELS! The T.V. show was actually pretty good surprisingly. If you liked Quantum Leap, you will probably like The Higlander TV show. Btw Highlander doesn't=Immortal. He's called the Highlander because he's from the Highlands of Scotland. Not because he is an Immortal 😉
Everybody talks about Queen but the classical theme is fantastic. One of the best in cinema.
Believe me, this is as good as it gets for the Highlander series.
For the Highlander movies. I actually like the show better.
The anime was great. The rest...namby-pamby, especially The Source.
French man plays a Scot, Scot plays Egyptian, working for the court of Spain.
Ah, the 80's.
I do love this movie, the soundtrack from Styx/Starship really makes it for me.
Lol..... The soundtrack was from Queen & composer Michael Kamen
I think the strangest thing about the movie is that without it we wouldn't have some of the greatest songs from Queen
I love this movie! It was the very first dvd I ever bought and my favourite part is Conor after living for hundreds of years decides the best thing he can do is get drunk and fight a rich white person and insult his wife 😂 😅
Clancy Brown is also the voice of Lex Luther in the superman cartoon
Was always a favorite. There are 6 films, a tv series, games. He been in many things but I think He'll always will be remembered for is this and Mortal Kombat.
Hope you watch the TV Series!
Clancy Brown got to talk about the "fearsome, but misunderstoof Kurgan" while being the "sponsor" of a high school "Highlander Club" in the show "The Goldbergs." He even got to reprise his line -- "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!!!.... Highlander club!"
This Movie does so many thing wrong A Frenchman playing Scottish , A Scottish Actor Playing a Spaniard, low Budget but..... I love every Moment It is one of My Favorite Films and Connery just is perfect . Great Villain and the best Sound Track EVER !!!!!!!! Plus a love story for the Ages.
a scottish actor playing an egyptian working for a spaniard. get it right. also lambert born in US raised mostly in Switzerland, and speaks at least 4 languages.
It's so funny....this movie had a Frenchman playing a Scot, and a Scot playing an Egyptian.
Excellent film saw it first time round i was 14. Queen are wonderful Freddie Mercury is and always will be Queen rip
Long Live the Queen
Every action movie needs a great villain above all, and The Kurgan is one of rhe greatest!
There can be only one! To bad the sequels didn't listen.
I have loved this movie for years. All I can add to what other people have already said about Highlander is, there should have been only one.
No! Don't watch the second one. If you want more Highlander, watch the series. There are one or two of the other movies that kind of work, but they are more low budget Saturday night at the movies. And if you want more Christopher Lambert, I'll add to the others suggesting Greystoke. Definitely my favorite Tarzan.
When Lambert took his glasses off they were lucky no one was killed in the fight scenes apparently 😂
Such an enjoyable movie. Too bad they never made any sequels-I'm sure they would have been _great..._
Highlander is something that Gregory Widen wrote as an undergrad at UCLA. I think he said the idea came to him on a castle tour while vacationing in Scotland; he looked at a display suit of armor and wondered what it would be like if that guy was still walking around today.
That opening monologue was recorded by Sean Connery in his bathroom. 😁 He had very limited time to film this movie, and he bet the director he wouldn't be able to finish all of his scenes. He lost that bet.
Russell Mulcahy was known primarily for directing music videos before he went into features. The opening shot over the wrestling ring required a custom computer controlled camera rig to get. The sweeping shots during the final battle were achieved by strapping the camera to an office chair and pushing it across the room.
There are several sequels to this, but I'd avoid them for the most part. The third movie isn't too bad, but it's basically this one again, slightly tweaked. That's the best it's going to get though. There was a TV series which was pretty damn good, though doesn't really fit with any continuity. And there was a pretty bad spinoff, and an awful cartoon, as well as a Highlander anime that I haven't seen.
It's a big franchise, but in the end, it seems there can be only one.
Highlander wasn't Russell's first film. It was Razorback.
@@Madbandit77 Oh, weird, for some reason I thought that was a short film...
Thx for the correction.
Christopher Lambert has had many good roles. You just don't know any better. He was Tarzan in "Greystoke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes" before he ever did "Highlander". He was Lord Raiden in the original "Mortal Kombat" film. He was in a great film called "Mean Guns" with Ice T, & a host of many other films
He was King of B movies
Besides Highlander, I’d say Christopher Lambert’s most well known movies are Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan and Mortal Combat. I’d definitely recommend checking out Greystoke one day. It’s a very good and underrated movie.
It's Kombat.
19:45 running out of shelter in them times, she'd have been eaten by wolves as she opened the door lol.
Other than in The Shawshank Redemption, this is Clancy Brown's other iconic movie role.
Quick fact:
The Kurgan's quote "It's better to burn out than fade away." was the famous last words of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain before he ended his life.
Highlander is a great movie, and the stellar Queen soundtrack is amazing.
Cheers for making this video.

Fun Fact about this opening scene:
When Sean Connery was recording this voiceover, he recorded this in his bahroom, thus the reason why his dialogue was echoing
The most annoying thing about this film is you get the Queen cover version of New York New York but it wasn't on the OST or the Highlander album.
For God's sake, release the studio cut
It won the Oscar for greatest movie ever made
The Highlander series is excellent. It is about Connor's cousin Duncan, played by Adrian Paul.

I've seen planks of wood with more personality and charm then Paul and wet noodles that are better fighters. the only part of role that suits him is his broody eyebrows that make him look sad and emotionally distant at all times.@@Blutteufel
@@marcelmoreau2733 You're predicating every problem with the show on one person. Do you not see the problem, here?
@@Blutteufel i am highlifgting one of major reasons show is terrible. rest of cast just as bad. horrible writting, nonsensical plots and stories, OP introduced characters. consyant self retconn, ppor fight choreography and fx.... a lot of reasons show sucks, Paul is just 1st amd largest symptom.
Now imagine the Kurgan's voice coming out of Mr Krabs mouth.
He shouts "there can be only ONE!" as Krabs throws Plankton back towards the chum bucket.
Good movie.
With queen = great movie.
With Clancy Brown = Timeless classic.
This movie won the Academy Award for Greatest Movie Ever.
