Good to hear this young men bringing us the Love of Christ through the ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo way! Tho it’ll be much more effective if y’all led with prayers! Because, some of us don’t even know how too😂✌🏾

Simply put I believe the issue with our songs is not just they sound absolutely like Zefen or sometimes we can bring Zefen they came out of but it is also the lack of responsibility from the listener. The individual doesn’t not want the take the responsibility of defining what their religious songs should sound like because they are not ready to leave their dancing shoes at the gate. I do not think we should be talking about the other churches using other ways of worship because that’s is simply not related to the issue we are facing. I strongly believe as the people in the faith we should protect and honor our father St. Yarad and demand from our singers to deliver songs that are beyond the ordinary hand clap and feet stomps. It is our responsibility to bring forth people who are truly of the faith and can be trusted to deliver the correct message, in the correct format and content and zema when they work on their songs. Thus, the purpose of singing should not be to be this or that man or women but the be in faith to service. I am not sure not definitely say this is our churches song and that is not our churches songs should be a problem. If you sing it you should be able to say this is the root of it and present it to your fellow church sisters and brothers.

SPOTC is providing such amazing services 👏
I wish they can expand these kind of service to Houston . The young generations who are born and raised in USA are very lucky to have this amazing opportunity...I always follow and attend their ceremony.
I truely appreciate kessi Abay for all his hard work and dedication! May God Bless your service!
I would like to ask kessi if he has any plans to start spiritual education exchange program with other sisters orthodox church to expand SPOTC program to engage youth to be part of the orthodox church service ,because engaging young people helps ensure that religious traditions continue.
I beleive any churches without young adults are empty, passionless, and not making a difference, and that they could be more vibrant and intergenerational if they included young people , that's what we are missing in most of our church! Thank you for sharing and God Bless you all!

We talked a lot about ያሬዳዊ ዜማ in this episode so here's a question I've always thought about- the sister churches don't have St Yared's tradition, they don't use his hymnology, do they lack anything because of that?

Not per say but they are their unique way of melodies that we don't use am sure they don't consider us lacking in that sense. We are given this hymnology by God through Saint Yared, which is uniquly used in our churches. I think it is best to see things in their spirituality and not only from convinency to our fleshly senses.

A good question is how does one discern good hymnology from ones that do not do a good “Orthodox” job of glorifying God.
A controversy that is going on in the Coptic and Indian churches is the use of Western hymns (mostly Protestant) that is popular in Christian pop media for their youth meetings, to “attract youth”. I have been very much against such and I desired for something more fitting and less superficial. I think this needs serious discussion.
