Byz games are so much fun to watch. Imo Demu's bbq placement is was cost him the game. It didn't really protect anything and meant baloo could attack from every angle
The thing with Byz is, unless your macro and micro are God tier, you will get run into the ground by a good player knocking you off balance, this was just a great game by an incredible player.
Baloo didn't even get teardrop shield which increases the attack speed of varangians significantly. The game would be even more one-sided had he researched the tech.
I don't why ppl talk about nerfing byz. Baloo is the one who played masterclass. We should all congratulate Baloo for destroying the no.1 rank player. Byz is by far hard to play coz you need to be multi tasking like crazy. Credit goes to Baloo not the civ.
Hey drongo I’ve been watching your vids for a few months now I only recently got into aoe4 and I’m absolutely Terrible I lost all my ranked matches. Do you coach people by chance?
He has a patreon. Coaching videos from earlier seasons are free to watch, watching videos from this season with the new civs does cost a little and getting your replay rewieved costs a little more. But if you are that new then I would personally wait with the coaching. There are two videos on yt from a year or so ago on what to focus on to get better at aoe4. One from drongo himself and one from age of noob. If you don't do the stuff they are talking about correctly you just pay to get told the advice you get for free (age of noobs lists all the things and give them a rating, so all the high priority things from his video). These things are so Fundamental that they cover your personal mistakes. So drongo would not even know the smaller things you do wrong. First get the fundamentals and then you can get coached on your mistakes.
Just checked: Type in your search bar "how to get better at aoe4" and the first 10 videos or so are really worth watching. The one from drongo is titled something in the line of "6 ways to improve your games" and is really the bedrock of Tipps. The one from age of noobs called something like "50 Tipps for aoe4" and is a comprehensive list of everything (or 50 things) you can focus on to improve your game. All the other Videos you find is from aoe4 pros telling their Tipps and are also worth watching (there is a lot of beasty videos when you search this)
@@tigranburunsuzyan1968 there are a few videos about getting better at aoe4 - Drongo has one titled '6 Simple Things You Can Do To Get Better At AoE4' which has a lot of tips about the mindset and what we should do to improve from the very beginning. I think reading the game is one of the hardest things at a low level. Changing plans (opponent started making stables? stop producing archer and start producing a few spearmen), getting a feeling of how aggressive opponent is being and how much you should be. Lost a few matches because I had a better army and opted to go castle, while opponent produced a lot of units and went to destroy me. Also, understand how to defend helps a lot. Placing walls help a LOT, as well as placing a tower next to mines or resources that are exposed. As a gold 1 player those are things that helped me improve a lot and being able to improvise according to what the opponent is doing.
By the way you don't have to wall all your base. Just wall your flanks and points where you are vulnerable. Getting a few tiles of wall on your woodline helps a lot getting your villagers to the town center without letting opponent get a few of them. Walling early game is more about getting a few seconds to react and not lose villagers until you are able to.
the cistern resource buff does seem to be absolutely nuts. a mini aachen chapel (or same % if you actually go that route with ootd) for 50 stone that can be built immediately is immensely powerful. It still boils down to overall play but it absolutely has the potential to be bonkers, especially because mercenaries are essentially free.

The buff to infantry armor from camel auras comes in Imperial, when you build the Foreign Engineering Company. The landmark's secondary benefit is that it grants all of your mercenary units their civ-specific upgrades, e.g. Camel Support for camel riders, Steppe Lancers for keshiks, etc.
Something about the Byzantine in red while the Chinese in purple annoys me more than it reasonably should.
Due to the Porphyrogenitus of the ERE or Byzantines or Romaioi

He placed it there to defend the chokepoint, not expencting to be pushed from another angle so soon

Great comp by the byzantines. Preventing the Chinese from going into zhuge nu early made all the difference. The spears didn’t stand a chance.
