@@levioneill9677 Unfortunately that is hardly possible. I don't mind him using an emulator. I'm just curious how he's going to get resi2 to work. Or if he uses some other method, maybe they are all available on some nintendo retro console thing like I saw on the Wii.
I love when you edit and commentate your sports game highlights like an old ESPN highlight. It's very entertaining and makes the gameplay look so exciting when you actually know all the players names and show how the game went down just like watching it on old school ESPN. Great job as usual. Love the videos
Considering the past few year’s rules, especially the rule they just passed, that’s just not true unfortunately. Feelings are more important than winning, let alone safety, with unsportsmanlike.
I remembered 514 for infinite turbo easily, but I thought it was +z for some reason, not a direction. I also remember Infinite acceleration, which was WAY BETTER AND AWESOME than just infinite turbo, and the two together was NUTS. For that one it was was 322 but idr the direction. Left I think? Still burned in my head 23 years later. Used to play in my friends basement, and try to do as many late hits as possible before the next play would start.
@@wintermute8315 true, but it’s really rare to see a gamer channel also have an interest and knowledge of sports as well. I don’t watch madden channels, so that’s out. The only ones I know of are RGT and Thab, and I appreciate it, as I’m a big sports fan, especially 90’s-00’s
With regards to a super arcady modern Football game, they did make "Mutant Football League", which has the same Midway announcer, and all sorts of ridiculous hits and plays, as well as landmines and firepits and sandworms on the field that will kill players. It's a sort of cross between NFL Blitz and the old Mutant League Football game from the Genesis. I don't think it did particularly well though, and it can be often bought on sale with all the DLC for like... $5.
I love your recaps of these sports games! "But winning is more important than his safety" lmao. Also, of couse the b.s. that goes your way is against the Lions. Thats the most realistic crap I've ever seen As a fan of sports and old games, you giving these games the time of day is very appreciated
One of my favorite games. All the little codes, onside kicks, custom plays, funny lines, tackles, hiding your play selection against your friends but then forgetting what play you chose because you couldn't see either. Soooo many good memories
Ah yes the classic Vikings vs Falcons game where the QB ran for all the TD's and Vikings hit those field goals from 70 yards out. These games were classic, you need to do more late hits after the plays over. my bro and I would always try and get the 3D (Dudley Boys Cutter) to go off
Loved this game in the arcade (and the N64 games play pretty closely to it) My brother hated playing me. Right when the QB throws, you rapidly switch back and forth between tackle and change player. You end up tackling every available receiver and drive your opponent insane
My favorite part of this game that you didn’t mention was that you can just pummel the other players with diving tackles, elbow drops, body slams, and other WWF-style wrestling moves moves, in between plays, and the commentator would start talking about “what an ugly hit that was” or “that was uncalled for”, to the point of swearing (bleeped out) while describing the unsportsmanlike conduct of the players!
I love this series. It’s what introduced me to your channel and now I have probably enjoyed a good majority of your content. So, take this observation with a grain of salt, or don’t take it at all. The purist and the completionist and me loves that you are completing EVERY N64 game. It’s exciting to get to the end of the video to see if one of my most beloved games is up next, and it’s been fun being introduced to games that I had never previously played or didn’t know anything about. I do believe, however, that there may be a point of diminishing returns in this approach due to the ratio of interesting games to uninteresting games, in combination with the loss of novelty that comes from playing sequels or annual updates of games that weren’t that interesting in the first place or where the sequel isn’t really that different. The biggest contributors to these outcomes, as I’m sure you know, are some sports titles, some racing titles, some Japanese exclusive, simulators, all the Mahjong games, etc. Seeing any of these games the first time can still be interesting, even if the game isn’t that good, but after seeing them for the third or fourth time, I don’t really have much of a desire to engage with the content. This happened today, and I am actually a fan of the NFL, blitz franchise, but I found myself doing other things while the video was playing and not really giving it much attention. This was then compounded when I got to the end of the video and found the next video is going to be another Japanese baseball simulator. Now, I’m still going to watch next week, but my mind jumped forward to what if this began occurring more and more often if there were less and less ‘interesting’ games available on the list and more and more of the ones that I’m describing here. I don’t know… I just thought it might be worth pointing out. I’m sure it’s something you’ve already considered or perhaps it’s actually a non-issue. Or, maybe the majority of your viewers actually love these videos. And I suppose it would be difficult to change your approach when at the beginning of every one of your videos, you soundly state, “I’m beating EVERY N64 game, and I mean ALL of them.” Again, take it with a grain of salt or not at all. Appreciate your channel and work.
You are pretty much right lol. It’s a flaw of beating all the games. Don’t think most people realize how much garbage and repetition there is on any given console. One idea is to combine videos of a single series together, which is decent. But the quicker sports game videos is what even allows me to get one out per week. Some of these videos take quite awhile to make
@@Thabeast721 I had thought about combining the similar games in a series together into one video, too - maybe only fully beating what you determine to be the best version after trying each out and spending a little time comparing/contrasting. Then possibly put together multi-part videos for those more in-depth games that take longer to complete (thinking about Super Robot Wars here 😅, but could apply to any game that takes a extra commitment of time to complete and walk thru) to ease up on the weekly commitment. I’m not a YT’er, so I may be way off here, but I would think that releasing multiple videos on 1 game you’re playing over an extended period would be somewhat less stressful and time-consuming than completing the whole game and video the same week. But then you gotta ask if that is, in fact, better, and hell, idk. Everything is a system of trade offs. Maybe just keep it the way it is, and if you ARE thinking of ways to adjust it but aren’t sure how your audience will take it, throw out a YT survey with some possible options for mixing it up. At this point, I’m prolly just telling you the grass is green. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment and for responding. Good luck, no matter what you end up doing. Like I said, I’ve really been enjoying it over the last year and plan to keep showing up for the next.
Football is basically a turn based strategy game. You get 4 turns (called downs) to move the ball a determined distance ( in Blitz it's 30yd and irl it's 10yd). Once you move the ball that distance the turns refresh. Teams will have different sets of players who play offense and defense. Aside from that it's just rugby with forward passing. Hope that helps.
Your somewhat game announcer-style narration made it clear that you enjoyed this game. Especially with a sibling or friend, sport games can be the most fun games to play. At least they were back in the 90s.
2:06 They did make an NFL "Blitz" for the NFL but the national fumble the bag league made them tone down the violence and so, as expected, it didn't even become popular much less than the original. Blitz in name only.
2:00 funny you should mention that. NFL blitz has taken all the late hits out of the arcade cabinet version of that game. It seems they are trying to censor it, so I am not sure a good NFL Blitz-type game will ever be produced again
I was not a fan of this when I first watched it but I’ve really grown to love the matter of fact nature of how you assess the games this has become a favorite series of mine
I bought this game used for $20 at a Blockbuster in 2000. It might be the best $20 I’ve ever spent - I’ll still play this one with old friends to this day.
2:22 a modern super unrealistic game would do amazing. So would any number of other creative football games but the LEGALLY cannot. Madden owns EXCLUSIVE rights to the NFL teams… its BS and stuff like that has held sports games back for years and allowed them to be lazy af with new releases because they know that people who like football games will buy madden even if it’s bad because there is no other option…
I loved NFL blitz. I swear the game would get easier or more difficult based on who was winning. If you were up by too much you'd fumble every single time you got touched, and if you were down too much you looked like prime Tom Brady out there.
I'm not a fan of football... But I played so much of this game with some of my friends growing up and even though we had no idea what we were doing it was always a blast

Amazing commentary Thab! These blitz games are hilarious, the Hulk Hogan leg drop at 7:22
I remember when I was like... 9, a buddy and I were playing this, he leg dropped me after the play and the announcer screamed *DIRTY FOOTBALL!!*
I'm binge watching all of this series... and I mean ALL of it.
