Jake you are one cool dude!! thank you so much..you schooled me today and that is right on...your surroundings are awesome!!
Thank you very much!!
great walkthrough man. and wow what a beautiful scene. those views give me the goosebumps :)
Thank you
I just started my relationship with my Mavic Air 2. It's my 2nd drone, my 1st a low-cost Holy Stone HS120. What a HUGE difference between the two in price and quality. The Mavic Air 2 is so much more forgiving which makes it easier to fly. Watching your videos has helped tremendously with the "learning curve" so much that my 1st flight was very easy. The obstacle avoidance is amazing and greatly helps with confidence as a new drone pilot.
I’m so glad it helped! Enjoy your new drone!!
Thank you for sharing your videos ... from Ireland 🇮🇪
You’re welcome!! Cheers
Excellent video. Your content is awesome! I always watch the entire video you upload; even if I'm not so much of a newb.... Lol. Mostly to enjoy the scenery.
You and me both lol. The scenery is half the reason I get out and record 😜. Thanks a lot Eddie
Thanks Jake. Well done, great tutorial.
Thank you so much Chris! That means a lot
Excellent. Quick and informative.
Thanks!
Great video! As a solo content creator and “tech/gear head” myself, I really enjoy your videos - very entertaining and informative! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the next video! I also hope you are keeping safe. All the best!!
Thank you very much stay safe and have fun!! Cheers
Very good set up Video, just got into DJIs had a lot of drones over the years like all of them you have to take the time to learn them in order to have sucess, and you got it down I will be watching your videos a lot for sure.
Glad they are helpful
thank you! Its a much needed lesson for me, i took notes too!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video boss really appreciate it your time and effort
Thanks
Great info/video! Thanks!
Thanks!
One of the best video I have seen on the Mavic Air. And I did see Russ's logo.
Thank you very much!
Thanks great tutorial just purchased the air 2 yesterday and this will help tremendously...what a great area to fly....I dont like heights all that much and felt nervous just watching you near the edge....I'm subscribed and of course I smashed that like button
Thank you very much!
keep rocking!
Thanks Cheers!!
very nicely done. Thank you
Thank you
All I could think about the whole video, is your drone sliding off that rock lol. I've had this drone for six months and use it nearly everyday. Somehow, I clicked on this video with knowing all that, and clicked on it anyway lol. Great video, good content.
hahahahaha I never thought about how that looked! Thanks a lot cheers!
Awesome content, subscribed🙂👍
Awesome thank you!
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Flew My MA2 for the first time today. Not as much as I would have wanted to, I was in a class. But it's a start. It was quite windy actually, so that was fun to see - it maintained position pretty well actually. Hard to see at distance, but better than the Phantom I think due to contrast. I really like your videos Jake, and I will subscribe. I actually like where you live and work more than anything, but dang it's cold up there!
Thanks Kevin I’m glad you like the drone!
The part about waiting for the sufficient # of satellites to lock on to the drone is a nice reminder as is the airsense feature. I haven't checked whether the option works or is available in my drone.
Overall, a crisp and neat video 👍
Thanks
Great tips...about to pull the trigger on this one to upgrade from my original Mavic Pro.
Oh man it’s a BIG upgrade from the original mavic pro! You’ll love it!!
@@JakeSloan Ordered today...arrives Tuesday!
Awesome!!
Jake Sloan Do you think there is a big market for using drones for golf courses for both stills and video? That’s something I’d really like to get into.
Thank you Jake for that quick nice video 👍🏻. So one question please, since you have not clearly revealed how to start the active track mode, would you please explain how to do it? Thank you 😊
When you select a subject to track by drawing a box around it you can then select the different types of active track (spotlight point of interest and track) when you select one of those modes you simply press go and it will start to track. Track (active track) is what you want if you want the drone to follow you around. Spot light is what you want to use if you want to fly the drone but want the drone to keep the camera on the subject. Point of interest is what you want if you want the drone to circle the subject (moving or not). I hope that makes sense!
A lot to learn. If I want to fly the drone. Hahahah.
always but take it bits at a time and you'll be fine
Great video! I'm learning so much. Today is my day 2 for owning this drone. I took it into my backyard today and began practicing with it. What a great little drone! I noticed that even though I'm recording video to a disc, my video doesn't appear on my iphone screen. And during playback from my memory card it plays in slo-mo. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for putting this out there for us.
Make sure you are using the highest speed memory card you can. I use SanDisk Extreme pro and they work really really well. Also depending on how well the device you are playing it back on can process the footage it make slow it down to a speed it can handle processing it.
Jake Sloan Since my original post I found what was causing my issues. It’s in the calibration of the drone. Originally, I calibrated it clockwise instead of counter-clockwise, as the instructions show. When I re-calibrated, Everything got corrected. My camera began working properly and my playback played at actual speed. As for the card, I use the same as you, and it’s a 3.
You may want to keep this info. in your back pocket in the event someone else experiences the same issue.
Oh - today I really played with it. I even allowed it to go back into (over-head) the trees surrounding my property and eventually brought it back. What a great little drone!
Thank you for getting back to me.
Hello Jake, what would you advise if you want to charge your MA2 batteries on the go? I ran out of power (3 batteries) when my family and I were at a park trying to get some nice footage. Thanks in advance :)
Unfortunately without a generator or the car charger there aren't many options yet. The car charger is the best option for portable charging. Cheers
Can you set waypoint the same way with the MA2 as with the Mavic 3 video in the video "Do this instead" I hope so.
Yes you can. Watch my air 3 review video to see some great examples
Just got my mavic air 2 for my birthday today. For a drone newbie what editor would be good for me
Awesome!!! I would use iMovie if you use Mac or hit film express if you use PC
Great video. I have just bought Air 2. What obstical avoidance is better to use as a new pilot. I have heard if not on correctly it can crash into top of a tree or fall into water thinking it is landing due to sensors?
You want obstacle avoidance on and APAS on as well. Keep in mind the sides and top do not have sensors.
Looking in settings, I can set to avoid and go round, or set to stop if encounters an obstical...... Do I set to STOP or AVOID and go round???? The avoid one shows green Line heading to a tree and shows it will go over. The STOP shows grey line towards the tree.
I paid £1000 for this combo Air 2 kit but only has a QUICK start guide which is stupid for the price, I expected to sit and read instructions .
I use avoid and go around but you may want to start with the stop option until you feel more comfortable with it. Take some time out in an open area to fly around and get a feel for the drone and how it handles. Use the active track and the quick shots to see how they work etc. that helps a ton to develop confidence
Hi Jake, so sorry for the long delay in reply as been quite ill. Thank you so much for your advice my friend.
Question:
When if safety settings and switching between modes, the AVOID option show a green arrow heading to the tree and green arrow continues over the top of the tree.
If switching to the STOP option, that arrow goes grey. Why is one green and other grey? I am worried with it being grey it will not stop.
Think I also made a mistake as when going through other setting I selected compass calibration and did that. Could I have caused a major issue doing it? I have not flown Air 2 yet as wind and rain. Thanks again my friend and look forward to you reply.

The other method of landing the drone when there isn't a lot of even ground available would best be to land it on your hand. Blades can get damaged on uneven ground :(
Yes they can. I frequently hand lunch and hand catch due to the terrain I’m often in.
Was waiting while wathing your video if you were going to separate the blades, but that got edited out. Have both the Air and now the Air 2. Just need to be able to get out and try out all the new information you've given.
Oh yes I did edit that part out but use I do open the propellors up to make it easier on the drone when starting up. Cheers and I hope it all helps you out!!
Enjoyed your tutorial on the MA2. I'm trying to get mine set up but one feature I can't find on the app is phone charging. I have an Android phone app is 1.2.4 what am I missing.
Thank you very much! Interesting is it not in the remote section of the menu?
@@JakeSloan No. some seem to think it is automatically in the app. I'm just not sure.
One minute in and I’m already looking forward to the rest of the video.
Thanks I hope you get some value from it!
Hello Jake...quick question...once you set all your settings for the drone, camera, video etc....does it save them or do you have to set them each time you fly?? Thank you. Great video.
It saves them but any time you do a firmware update its a good idea to check because sometimes the firmware updates reset all the settings
@@JakeSloan thank you.
Hi🙋♂️
Nice recordings, Top footage ! I Like it👍Let me see what you upload. Is something planned ??? Gladly more of it! Keep it up and stay healthy. Greetings Lenny from Stralsund/Germany
Thank you! Cheers!!
I just got my Mavic Air 2. This will be my 3rd drone after P1 and P3. Theres some massive amount of work done by DJI. I really like this drone!
I took it out for some cinematics shot. Would love if you could check it out and give a few tips on it :) Subscribed.
You have some fantastic footage! My only tip would be give it a little bit more saturation to bring out the colors more. You have some incredible landscapes and locations to film and they need to be shown off! Cheers
@@JakeSloan Thanks for the answer, Jake! I will try it out!
I know my batteries are rated around 30 minutes, My iPad is several hours but what is the battery time in the controller?
Several hours so far I’ve easily flown 8 full batteries and I still wouldn’t have had to recharge and I only recharged them since I was going out of town for a bit.
What is the best gimbal setting, you think it is best for you for the 3 modes
the auto HDR works very well in most situations
@@JakeSloan I mean the gimbal setting which you think is best for you, Thanks
Hi. After I did the update in my mavicair2 I can’t do all the footages I did before. Like the rocket, asteroids, etc. They are just not there. Does anyone knows why?
Thank you
Maybe try re loading the firmware?
Jake, do you slow down 30fps to 80% when on a 24 fps timeline?
I do! it makes it so much smoother and gives it a feel all of its own. The best examples of that is here: ruclips.net/video/QNgUKKBaAYE/видео.html all the drone footage in this video was slowed down to 80%. Cheers!!
@@JakeSloan thx I will check that video out.
How to show 2 windows on the same screen of your monitor ? Thanks
When flying and filming with the drone you can only see and use the DJI app if thats what you are asking. If you mean how did I add the overlays of the app in this video I use Final Cut Pro to overlay the screen recording of the app on the other footage.
@@JakeSloan Thank you, and the overlay that i mention about...
Looks like th is model doesn't have a viewing screen. Which one come with viewing screen??
most drones require you to use your phone for the screen
I have a terrible phone. That means i have to buy a better one.
Does it need a wifi connection to fly?
no it doesn't which is nice
Is it what I think it is @ 5:03min?
Oh it might be... 😜
I will get that drone on chistmas
Nice
I’m having trouble with the sd card being too slow
be sure and get a good sd card like the ones I mention in this video: ruclips.net/video/eSuIm4CsiEQ/видео.htmlsi=UTEccQwL3UUsdK5J&t=103
Well guess I need to watch a video on how to activate my drone then up date the firmware. Then I can start watching videos on how to fly the drone.
Cheers
I want to learn to fly the drone too. Hahaha. It sounds very. Complicated.
It is but take it in steps lol
Everyone fails to say, howto get out of Settings and backto Fly App. Sad, I am. If touching the Fly App background is all there is as a means, Im very sad. On my iPhone 7 that background is
Interesting, I hadn't thought of adding that piece in
The resolve is in iPhone Settings (not so obvious). Fixed. Now have 16mm of Camera View to tap upon to exit settings.
Gimbal Adjustment - Most see this as a means to change to Pitch and Yaw of the Aircraft movement seemingly wrongly placed under Gimbal adjustment.
It does in fact allow for straight ahead flight while moving the Camera L-R and Up and Down. Touch and hold finger upon the Camera View screen. Drag your finger Up/Down and/or Left/Right = Camera moves as pointed out with the same Pitch/Yaw adjustments. Or you may use a combination of A/C movement with Pitch/Yaw along with Pitch/Yaw of the Gimbal Camera. A difficult three handed operation at best or with lanyard to R/Controller
Please make a video convincing me not to want to buy this drone. Lol
ummmmmmm how about I make a video convincing you to come visit instead? 😜
