Nice video. I have a PA14 and it is great but it is too bad that I really suck as a fisherman, so even though I get skunked I love it for the exercise

Safety should be first priority. PFD, First-aid kit, possibly a flare-gun if you're doing offshore, and always have a line of communication open if you're going solo.

Hi Mark, I am 15 years old and thinking about saving for a hobbie kayak. I was wondering what your recommendations where I what to get. My budget is $1600-$2000. I live on the Severn River in Maryland and mainly target Rockfish, Pickerel, white perch, and possibly snakehead. I do want a good kayak to stand on that is stable/comfortable and that I can put equipment on. Thinking about getting one on Facebook marketplace place. Thanks Again and I love your fishing videos!

      Hey Cole,
For your style of fishing, it seems like the Hobie Outback or Old Town Sportsman PDL would be great options. They both are do-it-all kayaks, and everyone I know that has them loves them. Pretty good speed and stable enough to stand in.
      Thanks for tuning in!

    Excellent advice!
    SCUPPER HOLES
I've heard that putting a stakeout pole through scuppers may crack the scuppers -- but you haven't experienced any issues?
    ROD HOLDER
I love the Hobie H Rail Rod Holder that clips onto the H-Rail. I have 4! So I can have the rods right next to my seat -- I also have that Hobie crate but am too old, fat, and bald to reach behind me to get a rod out. Still, those holders are useful!
    KAYAK CUSHION
I'm the opposite of you -- PLENTY of natural "seat cushion" (too much!). But despite the awesome Hobie PA 14 Advantage Seat, I was getting a sore butt and sometimes back. The Kayak Cushions eliminated that issue!
    ONE ADDITION: SAFETY WHISTLE
One "must have" item I would recommend is a safety whistle. Just in case of problems. And I truly wish everyone knew the "S-O-S" alarm: 3 short toots; 3 long toots; 3 short toots. If you hear that, especially if it's repeated, someone is signaling for help.

I appreciate the feedback! Safety whistle is definitely great to have. Especially when fishing alone.
With the scupper holes, I’ve never had an issue with cracking. Those holes behind the seat are reinforced for the cart, which I imagine puts more stress on them while pulling it rather than keeping you still on the water with a stake out pole. I know companies have track-mount attachments with a hole in them made for poles, so that seems like the safest option over all else!

Hi! in Denmark is lipgrips allmost a no go. It destroys to many fish. I only use mine if it´s a keeper.

Luckily the Boga Grips spin, so typically I don’t have issues with breaking any fish jaws while the death roll. Most other metal grip companies along with the plastic ones, that will happen. I mostly use the plastic one for bigger fish that won’t be rolling like crazy

You need a kayak, a rod holder, your fishing gear and a safety vest. Don't need anything else in this video.

as expensive as kayaks are you're better off buying a little jon boat, a battery, and a trolling motor.

I prefer sticking to the kayak currently. If I were to buy a boat around the same cost, I would have to worry about licenses, gas, and a trailer. The kayak can also get me into places a lot of boats can’t, even with heavier kayaks like the one shown in the video
