I know some animes that did end. Medabots is one example I can think of off the top of my head. Also, Devilman, Ashita No Joe, Elfen Lied, etc. they had an end to them.

Another masterpiece. I had a feeling the "weakness" was going to reference the A-bomb in some way. I have to say I really appreciated the care with which the B-29 Superfotress "Enola Gay" was drawn.
Art style reminded me of Heavy Metal 1981 "B-17" part especially.

After I got done laughing, I realized it's the exact same thing with American comics.
Just the Superheroes comics since they're more profitable like Shonen Manga if you read other comic genre they are already finished or canceled without time to shine.

@@tillburr6799 The real reason is extrinsic. He won't do it because that would be a concrete and firm resolution, and would thus kill serialization potential. Creative bankruptcy ironically is more profitable and easy to market than making something, ya know, fucking new.

considering it's Miura's best friend, experienced mangaka, inspiration for griffith, and the only person who miura told the real ending to. I think berserk is in good hands. (hopefully)

Hell no. Kentaro is irreplaceable. He's too unique for anyone to even try continuing his vision. I'd rather Berserk sit unfinished than someone do a cheap imitation of his work.

This is legitimately a real solid critique of a big flaw in anime and manga narratives. Sacrificing logic and narrative consistency in service of profit.
Which we’re now seeing in American properties like Marvel and Star Wars
In fairness, it's not just anime/manga. It's inevitable whenever corporate interests and greed take over the creative process, and the art becomes hijacked to serve the cause of making more and more money. (And part of it is also due to the fans themselves, who want to see more of what they love, sometimes even when the story is complete and nothing more needs to be said.) Of course, you can't divorce capitalism entirely from the creative process; any project needs funding, after all. But there does need to be some kind of consensus between the creators, the sponsors, and the fans as to when a story is "finished".

Name 10 animes that don't seem to end. Meanwhile EVERY SINGLE WESTERN "COMIC" regardless of its genre is spanning entire decades. Some as old as world war 2.

Yeah, but the difference is that manga and anime are serialized (am I using the word "serialized" correctly?). Whiles The Simpsons Family Guy and SpongeBob are not, they're meant to go on forever, while serialize story like the ones in manga and anime aren't.

The inspiration was drawn from MTG and the entire reason behind it's spinoff into the card game it is now was through its potential to sell but the creator used it as a platform to make a game he thought was fun and would bring people together. It's in his afterword when the series ended. All he wanted was for people to get together and play cool games and have a good time. But don't worry, Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't miss you. So stay wherever TF you're at

To be fair berserk has made lots of progress with Mori and studio Gaga wanting to finish Miura’s wish, I don’t wanna stress em as they have been doing fantastic work and I’d rather they take there time then become the next naruto.

This was hilarious. What's almost as funny for me is the fact that all the anime I enjoy are typically just 13-50 episodes max and then conclude the story, as I refuse to watch the ones with triple episode counts, because I've never thought anything that goes on that long could possibly continue to be a quality show if it's going that long.
Sadly even then you can't be safe. Just look at Trigun. They dug deep to rob its grave and create some new shit which is fine in and of itself, but isn't really Trigun.

Exactly the series that stand the test of time and are often considered the greatest were short and had a clear definitive end.

That's my kinda anime list and the only outlier to that is DragonBall Z because it's basically Anime Wrestling.

It's nuanced of course, but i also usually enjoy a finished Story, that doesn't take a whole fucking Week of Watch Time.

One Piece is also a Behemoth of Runtime, but at least they keep it mostly fresh, by introducing entirely new and usually compelling Things to the Story and the World.
The Prime Example of a Show done perfect however, is:

Attack on Titan never stretched its story, honestly. There are, like, just two OVAs I think.
The only reason Attack on Titan still hasn't ended is because the episodes take a long time to release.
@@prowers2623 What's fun is that a couple of the OVAs are really just parts of the manga they didn't manage to fit inside the show itself (Ilse's notebook and I believe Levi's origin story as well?), some of them are adapted from a spin-off manga iirc (the Lost Girls ones, from what I remember), and then there's just a couple that seem to be just random stuff.
Really just overall a well-written story that doesn't overstay its welcome, which isn't that common, sadly.
Surely there isnt gonna be some cashgrab sequel/prequel in few years (Last chapter ending btw.).

Anime is like Emperor Palpatine, even if the original series had a near perfect ending they will always be brought back from the dead to be milked. (Dragon Ball: Super and Bourto)
Yes, because when you don't have a decent writer on a movie, it's always a clone that got killed. That, or it's a variant in a "multiverse". (because somehow killing multiverse variants somehow doesn't affect THOSE universes in any significant way, apparently). That's how you know your entertainment industry is in trouble - when common sense or just sheer logic is like finding an oasis in the desert.

There are so many animes I love that ended: Code Geass, Steam Detectives, Ranma ½, and Queens Blade). I was heartbroken they ended but maybe it's better that they did.

I literally stopped watching Prison Break after season one. It was all they needed, such a good plot and a satisfying end.

I bothered watching quite a lot of Season 2, but just skipped to the last episode of the last Season, because i didn't give a Fuck anymore.
I watched about 9 Seasons of TWD or so.

One Show that really did it right with Length and Pacing, was Breaking Bad.

A lot of animes have endings, its just the cash cows ones are milked.
It's ironic because The Walking Dead comic series ended back in 2019 while the show is still on life support and movies are planning to release. Like end the show already!

You do realize certain manga do end right?
Like look at Bleach for example. Kubo had the manga end at 2016, but people wanted the anime to be wrapped up since it got ended in 2012. Instead of trying to milk the series, Kubo moved on to Burn The Witch, a spiritual sucessor of Bleach.
Fullmetal Alchemist is another series that ended. Both it's manga and it's two versions of anime have ended due to there being nothing left to work with. Arakawa moved on to Silver Spoon.

To be fair, only the anime adaptions of Berserk are dead. The manga is still being helmed by Kentaro Miura’s friend and is on track as Miura intended more or less.
I don’t see the idea of a Berserk anime being dead either, especially with the Memorial Edition of the Berserk movies being released fairly recently. I expect it to probably be after the series ends though, which will be a while. If any manga deserves a proper adaptation though, it’s Berserk without a question.
