Owner of 2005 S2000, greatest sports car ever made, literally a tank, nothing has gone wrong, all I have ever had to do is oil changes, battery changes and tire changes, a near maintenance free joy, best car Honda ever made.

Owner 2001 AP1with 22 K miles ( thats right!) . Great List! Agree with all. Comments: OEM torque specs for rear spindal nut are too low causing too much side stress on the rear bearing contributes as much as heat to failure. The Oil use issue is proportional to the amount of time spent in Vtec and the type oil used. For some reason Mobile 1 which is a great oil has a reputation for misting and blowing out in VTEC. When I switched to Castrol Edge problem went away. I also don't spend much time in VTEC anymore like I did 10 years ago. For AP1 engines replacing valve retainers with AP2 is a must and replacing single hole oil banjo bolts are a good idea if you ever need to remove the oil pan. Exhaust valves clearance being too tight is a problem that should be watched. Thanks again! I enjoyed.

What do you mean misting and blowing out vtec? I used oil from Honda at first but it would use alot of oil. I switched to mobile one full synthetic and it didn't loose oil till it gets close to 2k miles. Than about a nother half qt by 3 and chang it anyway. I have noticed a difference in vtec recently. I got it a 22,750k miles currently at 64k.

I own a completely stock Silverstone 2004 with OEM factory hardtop. Bought in July 2012 from original owner with 68k on the odo. Eleven years later? 98k.
Absolutely LOVE this car. Driving it is always fun! Doesn’t get a lot of road time, though. My other car is a 2013 Camaro.

Im 19 and I have been wanting this car since a kid and I have the money for it too but they’re going for $30k-$40k which is insane.. I can literally buy a 2020 wrx sti or a BMW M3 instead.. this is a very hard decision to make and I’m scared… I really want the s2k but the price tho

In my opinion, if you can afford it get it since prices will only go up. It could be an investment :) plus if you wait longer, prices might become out of reach and unreasonable for how old the car is :)

@@StraightLineSpeed I really do but it’s such a hard decision because I want s2000 ap2 2005-2009 under 40k miles and I found several of them but they go for $40k+ only no under which is insane. Really really really hard decision for me because I have family members saying “oh why you going to get a old car for $40k, might as well get a M3 or WRX STI or a Civic TYPE R.” They really got me thinking like wtf😂 The Type R is nice, fun, and quick to drive but I’m not really into FWD, I prefer RWD because I love sharp turns and corners when driving and RWD is perfect for it like the s2000. I need help haha😂

@@RonDaG0at don't get hung up on the mileage, its the biggest mistake new owners make. Compression and leak down testing is the best way to check the health. I've seen a 60k ap2 have 185lbs, 170, 195, 170 and my 139k mile ap2 has 230lbs across all 4 cylinders. Why pay for damage just because the mileage is low. I use special Motul 300v Ester based 5w40. Blackstone reports are awesome

This guy clearly has never owned an S2K. Probably read something online about some bogus problems and made a video about it. These cars are unbelievably reliable and any issues they ever had were from a poor owner who never took care of the car. Owner of an 01 for 6 years. Make sure to do your valve adjustments boys 😄

Common issues? How about they are issues with almost all cars due to age and mileage? All S2000’s are now 14 to 23 years old.
