Just a sensational song from Queen, fabulous orchestra & choir. Love Brian May's singing too! It was written by Brian for the soundtrack to the film 'Highlander'. Just amazing!!! 👌👌👌
In the movie Highlander, Brian starts the song and Freddie finishes it. Brian May wrote the song. Freddie didn't know that he was ill until around 1987. He died 1991.
The fact that Freddie's voice gives you goosebumps just goes to prove that you recognise greatness when you hear it. You obviously have a good ear for listening.
I can recall Seal saying about the first time he heard the song Who Wants to live Forever and it was in the movie Highlander, and he said it was a very emotional song because it was one of the few songs that made him cry. And this was his song of choice for to sing at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley in April 1992. But when he went to try and sing it, he found that he had a similar problem to many of the other artists who were performing that day in honour of Freddie and that was he couldn't really reach the notes without risking his own career. So, had to change a few notes.
This song was written for the soundtrack to the film the highlander. The film was about immortals, and that there could be only one. Other songs from the soundtrack were it's a kind of magic and prince's of the universe. Who wants to live for ever played over a part of the film were the main immortal character was married to a mortal. She grew older and he stayed young
You would love Freddie’s opera era… with Montserrat Caballe The world’s greatest soprano in her time. Freddie wrote songs for her because he loved her voice and they did an album together and became best friends. Many fabulous songs on the album. My favorite is the Golden Boy. 🥰✌🏼
Brian wrote this in the var after having seen a clip from the movie Highlander. Queen made the whole soundtrack. It is about immortality. Brian also made the ochestral arrangement together with the conductor Eric? Kamen. It is performed by a symphony orchestra. It has nothing to do with Freddies illnes he was diagnosed rwo years later.
This song came from the movie Highlander. They did the entire soundtrack for that movie. The lyrics of this song make much more sense if you watch it. EPIC movie! :)
This song was featured heavily in the Highlander franchise. Specially in the TV series. And also Princes of the Universe was the theme song for the series.
Queen actually preformed the entire soundtrack to highlander (coincidentally also where I got my sons name from "Connor") amazing film with arguably the greatest movie score.
Beautiful song penned by guitarist Brian May for the 1986 Highlander movie soundtrack! Each member of Queen wrote a song for the soundtrack … PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE (Freddie) GIMME THE PRIZE (Brian) ONE YEAR OF LOVE (John) A KIND OF MAGIC (Roger) 🛡⚔️
Maybe you should see the clip from the film Highlander... Makes more sense when you understand the context in which the song was written... by Brian. I must admit that I do love their LIVE performance to though x
Brian wrote this song for the queen soundtrack for the movie Highlander. The main character in the movie is immortal and his life has been tortured by losing everyone he loves as they age and pass on. Once again he has fallen in love and doesn't want to go through another heart wrenching loss as he holds his wife as she is dying. I love this song, thank you for your reaction.
Please react to Brian's version (there's a Freddie version, too) of "Too Much Love Will Kill You". And watch the Highlander movie and react to the "Princes of the Universe" video. Freddie duals with Christopher Lambert using his microphone stand. LOL! 😂 (New subscriber today from Texas, USA.)
I loved this song and The Highlander franchise, for which it was written. I had the whole tv series on VHS tapes. Lol. This song takes me back, for sure. If you like rock orchestras, go look for the full version performance (there's one that was cut for time) of Heart performing Stairway To Heaven as a tribute to Led Zeppelin as the surviving LZ members watch and react at Kennedy Center Honors. Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, surprised LZ by showing up on stage to play after telling Robert Plant (his godfather) that he already had a gig that night. It's pretty epic!
Princes of the Universe - another song for the Highlander movie is a great rock song and phenomenal video. The gorgeous ballad, One Year of Love, was John Deacon's contribution for the film. Also fantastic!
If you're going to the Tommy Johansson version you should definitely also do the version with Queen and Adam Lambert at The Isle of Wight in 2016. It was performed the day after The Pulse nightclub shootings and Adam goes to another level. Roger Taylor said he had never heard the song sang like that before and it was special. Brian May says he will be playing the guitar and Adam will go into the stratosphere with his vocals on this song and he just goes wow. I'm in Vegas and just came from seeing Adam for the first time live tonight and no recording does his voice justice. It literally vibrates thru you. My God that man can sing!
Fantastic, Lee… THANK YOU! (BTW, Most folks don’t notice in this video that bass player John Deacon is playing the cello/string bass!) REQUEST: You should also react to this LIVE! There are 3 performances available on video (2 at Wembley, 1 at Budapest) MY FAVORITE is: Wembley Stadium - FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 (I specified the date because there are TWO 1986 Wembley concerts: Friday, July 11 & Saturday, July 12.) The FRIDAY performance is THE MOST EMOTIONALLY INTENSE… and, of all 3 versions, Fred’s voice during the July 11 performance is UNBELIEVABLE.🙀 (Freddie singing this live will RIP your heart right OUT of your chest!)😭 P.S. Brian wrote the song for the movie Highlander. With hindsight re. what happened to Fred, people all tend to associate it with his illness, tho. (Especially if you have a chance to see him sing it live… VERY EMOTIONAL!) To answer your Q re. when Freddie knew his condition: He wasn’t officially diagnosed until a year after this (1987)… but he secretly “knew” already. He’d secretly had a preliminary test in 1985 which was positive (but the results weren’t reliable w/o follow-ups) and by 1986 he was having issues w chronic pain/fatigue.🙏
This version is great but live at Wembley 1986 is off the charts. No Freddie didn’t write it, Brian did and it was Highlander … ok you read it up .. can’t be bothered to delete lol ❤
I love the Budapest LIVE version of this song - just physically dramatic simple staging elevates a particularly poignant moment. Wembly has its own wow factor...either way, glorious.
@@infin8reactions thanks luv. I went out in st Helens in about 2002 when Scouse house was massive. Half of the people there speak Lancashire like you and me and the other half sound Scouse. I think that's Lancashire selling bits off to Merseyside? I know they sold Southport and that's same, half lancs half scouse. It's only 16 miles from here to Blackpool. I avoid, it's overpriced and tacky but when ur a northern kid Blackpool is like nirvana lol 🙃🙂
Awesome original track, so memorable! Someone also made a mashup with Floor Jansen doing a duet with Freddi that's awesome as well. Jarkko Aholla does an amazing cover also, he was rumored as a replacement for Marko after he left NW. Cheers!
I SO love this song, and Freddy! I also thought it was about Freddy's HIV diagnosis and how he felt about it. Now I know the truth. Please react to Tommy Johansson doing it for Queen Elizabeth II in honor of her and her passing. I know you'll love it! Thanks!
Brian wrote this for the movie, The Highlander. The Highlander, an immortal who cannot die and must lose everyone he loves.
Just a sensational song from Queen, fabulous orchestra & choir. Love Brian May's singing too! It was written by Brian for the soundtrack to the film 'Highlander'. Just amazing!!! 👌👌👌
This song is fantastic performed live. Watch this live at Wembley 1986. It will Blow you away!!!
Absolutely agree ….. the power of Wembley 1986 live performance was stunning and is up there in top 10 👑❤👑❤️👑
Both Brian and Roger Can sing and has been lead singers in their own bands and they have solocarriers. Both of Them released albums in 2022.
Только фредди поёт не в родной тональности.
In the movie Highlander, Brian starts the song and Freddie finishes it. Brian May wrote the song. Freddie didn't know that he was ill until around 1987. He died 1991.
Oh freddie we miss you so. One of the best bands in the uk. Brian wrote it

A great reaction to an impossible vocal reproduction
FENOMENALI. IAR FREDIE A FOST ȘI VA RĂMÂNE UN FENOMEN. ❤❤❤

I felt the whole song
It's an incredible piece of art this

He's literally singing about immortals 😄

Wrote for Highlander 1986 movie Brian may wrote the song
Was the song from the film Highlander and was amazing back then x
I know I'm VERY late to the party here... But yet... you listened to one of the later version after Freddie's passing, so this one is Brian singing.
See this song live in Budapest. It will blow your mind much better than the Wembley version.
Maybe you should see the clip from the film Highlander... Makes more sense when you understand the context in which the song was written... by Brian. I must admit that I do love their LIVE performance to though x

Brian wrote it & still is a great guitarist. Both Roger & Brian still tour. They did both Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts. 🎸🎃

If you're looking for the song Brian wrote about Freddy's struggle with AIDS, its The Show Must Go On. Love your videos!!
Brian and Freddie wrote the lyrics together
This is a grand performance ❤
Princes of the Universe - another song for the Highlander movie is a great rock song and phenomenal video. The gorgeous ballad, One Year of Love, was John Deacon's contribution for the film. Also fantastic!
Agree, ONE YEAR OF LOVE is a killer ballad. Queen's R&B take.
Ist coming out 1986, written by Brain May for the Highlander Movie.
Brian sings Too much Love will Kill You.

They did the whole soundtrack for Highlander. The entire album is brilliant, though this is my favourite song from it. Cheers for this!
One of Brian's finest songs.

You should look up The Tenors version or this! ITS BEAUTIFUL♥️ It’s got a vampire themed music video! It also features Lindsey Stirling!♥️

Didn't you mean Brian IS not was a great guitarist!!
