    I recently picked up one of these for less then $450.00 new out the door. I was surprised at how well it shot and I'm considering adding a light to it for a home defense option. Add the 20 round mag and you are rocking and rolling!

    I brought this very gun back 2012. It is my favorite semi auto I own. Looks beautiful ,very accurate, I would personally take it over a Glock.

      It's basically a safer, non-striker fire Glock and while both are quality guns, I always have liked Beretta the best. I have had some issues with Glocks, 0 issues with my 92FS or my .45 ACP Storm.

    CX4 Storm (carbine) is a fantastic companion! Just make sure you check to get the one that matches the mag. for your PX4 as it comes in two styles. Beretta sells adapters. Pistol and Carbine using same mag that rocks!

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  10 лет назад

      good advice!! I am interested in those carbines!

  • @markej4801

    Thanks for the vid of my favorite weapon. I have owned the 9mm for several years. Its balance is amazing and comfortable, recoil is minimal as far as 9mm goes and reliability is second to none. I have carried it with an IWB holster quite comfortably, but due to the size, a loose pair of pants are required. ;) If anyone here is considering a home defense weapon or a carry weapon, you won't find better.
    Another thing to consider is its brother, the CX4 Storm, Berettas most excellent carbine that takes the PX4's magazines without so much as a hiccup. Like its brother pistol the CX4 has the wonderful Beretta looks and as a carbine, it has that 16" barrel which will increase accuracy and muzzle velocity, making it an awesome combination with the PX4 for home defense/CQB considerations. There are extended magazines as well, to extend from 17 to 20 rounds, so if you have the itch for just a bit more firepower, you are there. If you need a great gun for your home defense needs, get this combo. Get it now.

    • @CitizenCarry

      GREAT news~! The gun is just so smooth and everything that it's hard not to like it! I DO want to shoot one of those carbines some day!

    Thanks for the great review! Can’t wait to get one. Side note: As a left-handed shooter, I’ve become accustomed to using my left middle finger to release the magazines, and racking the slide with my right hand rather than using the slide catch to release it. Even one-handed I could still rack it catching the rear sight on my belt or pocket. In other words, the location of the slide catch isn’t an issue for me. Key words: FOR ME. Thanks again!

      2improper can i trouble you for your thoughts on the M&P9? I am trying to decide on my first firearm and rely heavily on expert opinions like yours. Thank you for your time and thank you again for such a detailed video.

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  9 лет назад +1

      Nathaniel Dujunco Hey! Well first: I'm not really an expert. I'm a major league fan and pistols are definitely a hobby, but I really appreciate your confidence!! Big Time!
      SO FAR: The M&P 9 is pretty impressive. (I just got mine, basically) The new M&P 9's have better triggers, are comfortable and great to shoot, do better with recoil (than glocks..), and I am starting to believe that the M&P series NOW are the glock killers.

    • @larrysfarris
      @larrysfarris 9 лет назад +4

      Nathaniel, I'll chime in here with my two cents. Before you plunk down your hard earned cash, ask yourself what the intended use is? If it's for concealed carry as opposed to a home defense/night stand gun, you may find the answer to that question leads to a different answer as to what is perferred. In addition to the sage advise of going to a shooting range to rent & test fire to see what "feels" best to you and what you're most comfortable and accurate with, I'd also recommend one other thing. Do your homework learning how the different pistol safeties work and the differences between hammer fired verses striker fired and the differences between Single Action Only and Double Action or SA/DA, etc. I personally see a lot of comparisons between (for instance) this Baretta PX4 and a Glock. To me, that's like comparing apples and oranges; they're two entirely different guns. Different designs, different safeties, different ways of operating. Every gun purchaser has to decide what attributes they want in their gun and the relative merit and values of those desired attributes. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get balanced and unbiased opinions along those lines.

    • @nathanieldujunco7596
      @nathanieldujunco7596 9 лет назад

      Hello Larry. Yes I do agree with your advice. The safeties on the px4 registers with my brain quite well and the whole function of the pistol makes sense to me. Not to say that it is better than others... just saying it clicks with how I do things and is therefore less of a learning curve. Being a noon I did look up the difference between SA/DA vs striker fired and realized that I do prefer SA/DA. I am trying to find a range nearby where I can rent the different options. Thanks for chiming in. It is much appreciated!

    I love my PX4, mine is the subcompact 9mm as I use it for my EDC concealed carry gun and I'm too scrawny to conceal anything bigger. The subcompact doesn't have the rotating barrel but is still very accurate, I would have no problem at all trusting it with my life. Can't wait to get one in the full size configuration.

  • @YouLookinAtMe-Bro

    Yes indeed a premium review...for a premium pistol!
    I've had my 45 for about 6 months now. Put about 400 rounds thru it without a single flaw of course.
    And because of it's rotating barrel, it has less recoil than any 9mm that I've ever fired.
    My favorite ever!

    I love my .45 ACP Storm. It just fires flawlessly and with the recoil of a 9mm 92FS, also another amazing gun. The rotating barrel really helps and you basically have a hammer fired dual safety/decocker Glock.

    The slide is made from a solid block of metal. I love how Glock boys criticize the slide because of its thickness. Tell me again, Glock boys, how is your slide made again?
    Just because it has a big slide does NOT mean it has a high bore axis. In fact, its bore axis is not higher than a Glock 17.

    • @sunking2001
      @sunking2001 8 лет назад +1

      +TheDrRJP I've held and fired Glocks. They feel very clumsy, crude, and dumb. I don't like how they fit my hand...feels like I'm holding a brick. My Beretta .40 PX4 Storm is like night and day compared to the Glock. I've never had any issue with my Beretta.

    I have a full size .40 PX4 Storm. For guns in that price range ($500-600), its a really nice gun. The rotating barrel does take some time to get use to, but it does its job with recoiling dampening. Its a fun gun to shoot. Aiming point is a tad higher than other guns I have so its something I also had to get use to. The grip is also pretty bulky so people with small hands, like me, may find it uncomfortable but its smooth unlike my HK USP, that has ridges, so its something that didn't really bother me much. The gun does come with 3 grip backstraps (small, medium and large). I tried the small on and it was too small so I stuck with the medium. Overall, a great firearm. Not as refined feeling as an HK or SIG, but still a fine shooter.

    I just purchased a compact model. Love the way it feel & shoots...except... I took it to the range yesterday. First mag, & slide didn't hold open after last round. OK thereafter. I had several failures to feed/double feeds. Winchester White Box problem? Will try another brand tomorrow.
    Everybody talks about how the rotating barrel softens recoil. I couldn't notice anything special. Maybe the mean compared to other polymer guns. Certainly not to my regular compact carry gun, a S&W 469.

    Cool composite closing with Yanni! Never looked at Beretta as a first gun-I Bought a Glock17 Gen4. Seemed as a light came on for my 2d choice; I was not obsessed with the idea of a 1911, so I switched it up and just bought a Beretta 96A1, on sale @ $695 Cda. Looked at the Px4 Storm too, and I wanted both. The Px4 Storm is on mind as a 3d gun-$750-$795 in Canada. Cheers!

    Thanks, nice review. I just bought the compact in .40 and although I haven't fired it yet, one thing sticks out, ergonomics-wise. It seems really unnatural that you have to push the safety up. I think it would take a lot of practice to get to the point where that would become automatic when drawing under stress. That's why I'm going to follow the Yankee Marshall and convert my F model to a G model.

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  10 лет назад

    I gotta admit I am in love with the Beretta PX 4 Storm COMPACT ( Carry ) 9mm
    I rate it as the best CCW / EDC ever produced !
    If one requires greater concealability :
    I recommend the Glock 26 Gen 4 with a three finger grip foot magazine cut off diagonally from front to back .
    I also recommend the Kahr PM 9
    And for deep concealment [ Pocket ( Holster ) Carry ] I recommend the kahr P380
    I rate 124gr 9mm GDHP +P as the best CCW / EDC cartridge ever produced !

    I recently bought a PX4 storm compact 9mm, and the slide lock/release is on both left and right handed sides of the gun... However, I only got two 15 round mags, might be the difference between full and compact versions. The compact isn't too bad for inside waistband: I'm not too picky, if I drive in my truck is it perfectly comfortable... But I have bucket seats in my car and the seat belt tends to push it into my side quite a bit. But I love this gun and the compact is a great carry gun while my Beretta 96 isn't the best carry...
    I personally don't feel like the PX4 Storm is a revolution to the Beretta M9 variant (92, 96), I would rather have that metal frame gun... Recoil/accuracy from barrel rotation on PX4--I feel like was necessary because of the light weight of the lower. I'm probably bias--I LOVE the PX4 compact--But I've had the Beretta 96 for 16 years, so it feels like second nature to me. Not to mention--the amount of police trade in Beretta 92's out there, you could get a 92/96 for the same price as a new PX4... If it's just going to be a night stand or in the safe gun--a Wilson Combat pimped Beretta 92/96 is ridiculously awesome (even a factory M9 is awesome)... Not to mention very close to equally sexy aesthetics--which is why it's in hundreds of movies and TV shows... Something about that naked barrel look... and new Berettas (M9, 92,96) come with a threaded barrel for a suppressor--so if money and concealment isn't the issue... I'd be looking at a new Beretta 92 or 96.
    Bonus tip--you can swap a Beretta 96 Barrel for a 92 barrel for an extra $130 (That's what it cost me, it is the non threaded barrel--threaded around $180), and have one gun that shoots .40 and 9mm rounds... oh and did I mention there is also a 22lr conversion kit for around $300.
    Never to say that the PX4 isn't quality, I trust it to do its job 100%. The PX4 Compact IS my Carry gun--if you want one--get one--seriously. But if you are a Beretta lover like I am, that 92/96 is soo awesome.

    For what it's worth, the rotating barrel doesn't reduce recoil one iota.
    What it DOES do is keep the recoil moving more in a rearward direction instead of upward, as the standard tilting barrel system pioneered by John Browning does.

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  10 лет назад

      therebyyyyy .....what? Reducing the effect of the recoil. Right?

    • @Gunners_Mate_Guns
      @Gunners_Mate_Guns 10 лет назад

      2improper
      Well yes, but you didn't say reduce EFFECT.
      It doesn't reduce recoil as such.
      Autos in general reduce effect of recoil by spreading out the DURATION of the recoil vs. revolvers.
      This one changes the nature of the recoil from conventional autos by making it more rearward, but it in no way reduces the total kinetic energy from firing.
      No gun can do that except for one with a muzzle brake of some sort.

    I am the proud owner of the Beretta PX4 Storm .40 full size. This gun fits like a glove, looks great, and I shoot very accurately at both 15 and 25 yards. I paid $500 and I feel it is a very good quality gun for the money. It reeks Italian with its shape and beauty. Easy to break down and clean. I have this version with the safety/decocker. It came with two mags (10 rounds Calif.). I love it!

    • @sunking2001

      2improper I find the recoil comfortable. Compared to my Sig SP 2022 .40...I haven't done a side by side comparison. Both comfortable. I really like the overall quality, looks, and accuracy of the sights. The safety/decocker (both sides) is an outstanding feature. Hickok45 has a demo/video of the 9mm version. Same gun. Check it out. He has parts 1 & 2 of his videos.

    I just bought my 96 last Thursday. In Cda you can't take a "Restricted" firearm (any hand gun) home immediately. The store applies for a Government ATT (Authorization To Transport) valid for only 1 month to pick it up. Hoping to get it this coming Tue. I need to join a gun club too-just to shoot it! I look forward to posting you when I actually fire it-Best

But by all means...this gun is great and as easy as the next!

    @e20wjr 5 лет назад

    I know many people who owned PX4 Storm doesn’t like the decocker lever because when they rack slide it’s make “troble” something like that. What do you think about it ? Is it make you uncomfortable when rack the slide ?

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  5 лет назад +1

      Cybernetic You definitely feel the cocking levers: but it doesn’t hurt or anything. It just takes a little getting used to if you’re used to striker fired pistols.

    Question: how do you like the Beretta magazine cartridge? A friend described how while at a tactical ''live fire'' training class that another class mate had horrific experiences with his PX4 compact: persistent jamming. Given its precision, he thought maybe the magazine was not accepting the ammo. Other?

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  10 лет назад

      Both of my magazines seem to work great, and I personally haven't had any problems. But thats just speaking for myself. Did both of his mags fail? If so, he should send the lot back to Beretta and they'll fix him up! I hear their service department is pretty good.

    • @thecrowrains
      @thecrowrains 10 лет назад

      I did in fact inquire later, after hearing the news of his class mate's Storm going 'haywire' with the jams/misfeeds. He sold it within 3 days and now owns an H&K (Heckler Koch) 9mm. I suppose he should have sent it back for Beretta to remedy. Thanks!

    Thank you for this review. I thought it came as close as possible to being comprehensive, but though I still have two questions, my opinion is that this review was certainly very thorough.
    If I may ask, do you know if there is a full size, 20 round magazine that fits the Compact version? Finally, do you know what the letters P and X stand for? I think that I may be the only guy in this hemisphere who doesn't know. Thanks again.

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  8 лет назад

      Yep! I have heard their 20 round mag will fit the other sized models. I am not sure what the "x" stands for, but the "P" stands for pistol, and 4 (I think) was because it was released in 2004. The x may represent the modular nature of the pistol. But I am not sure.

    • @macectoman
      @macectoman 8 лет назад

      That's helpful. Thanks. This is conjecture, but I noticed that in the videos in which Beretta promotes the weapon the x is not capitalized as the P is. Perhaps the x is meant to indicate the 4th model of the pistol. Just guessing.

    wait..I got this from Wikipedia:
    Today, the company is owned and is run by Ugo Gussalli Beretta and his sons, Franco and Pietro. The traditional father-to-son Beretta dynasty was interrupted when Ugo Gussalli Beretta assumed the firm's control; uncles Carlo and Giuseppe Beretta were childless; Ugo married into the Beretta family and adopted the last name Beretta. His sons are now direct descendents through their Mother's side of the family.

    • @CitizenCarry
      @CitizenCarry  10 лет назад

      Oh yeah....By the way, how do you like that M9? I want that or the 92F so bad!

    • @dahwriter
      @dahwriter 10 лет назад +2

      I picked the M9 for cosmetic reasons. The roll marks on the M9 are clean and simple, and the pistol doesn't have the 'Read Manual Before Use' jargon on it, which was a sigh of relief. The trigger on the M9/92FS is the same as the PX4, so if you like the PX4, the M9 will be like an old friend. The weight, for me, is not a problem, and the slide moves like its riding on lubed ball bearings, deliciously smooth. I have a 30 round magazine for my M9, and loaded it with a combination of 115 and 124 grain FMJ and HPJ. The M9 emptied the mix without a single issue, at a double tap, quick-fire pace.
      The aim on the M9 is sharp and on point up to , I would say, 50 feet; much like the PX4. I shoot a 6-7 inch grouping at 75 feet; which for my inept skills is rather nice. Other differences of the 92FS and M9 are the slanted dust cover on the frame, the slight inward grove on the back grip below the beaver tail, and the sight difference of the two dot system on the M9 instead of the 3 dot (92FS). (You probably already know the differences, but just in case, I thought I'd ramble them off.)
      Overall, if you love the PX4 then the M9/92FS will be just as grand a delight. Granted it is made with an aircraft aluminum frame, instead of polymer, but for me, 2.3 pounds for a fully loaded 9mm pistol is not a big deal. I've put 900 rounds through my M9 without a single issue. I even left it dirty and untouched for a month, then fired 60 rounds of combined 124 grain FMJ and HPJ without issue. And I know a lot of people complain about the grip being too wide, but it does help to give a nice La-Z-Boy softness to the recoil. I've fired 100 rounds consecutively in a 10 minutes span and my hands felt fine.
      And that's my opinion....
