I like the idea that Annabelle Cane doesn't actually know what she's doing and just makes shit up as she goes on, then makes it seem intentional after the fact
Or maybe that's the point. Maybe the Web is influencing her decisions to a crazy degree, to the point where she rides on impulse. The difference is that her impulse IS the Web's plan. It gives the appearance of both highly organized AND ultimate disorganization
Like she "walks with faith", using a more Christian-centric terminology. The Web uses her for its actions and she just goes with it. If she does or doesn't want to do something, its because its part of the Webs plan.
I have to assume that when Martin said "Were you think of something like this" he did a sexy pose like a damsel in distress and then he got trapped in that pose.

I think you're really on to something with the autonomy theme. And not just in John having all of his ripped away by the entities, or servants thereof, to enact one grand plan or another. No, ultimately, everyone who interacts with the Entities has a measure of autonomy stolen from them. Their victims are forced into horror scenarios where they can only react in fear, while the avatars are taken from who they were and have some kind of NEED forced on them. Needs to corrupt, needs to burn, to hunt, to watch, and consume the fear of those that they inflict terror upon, so that their "Patron," can spread itself a bit further. I miss when there wasn't so much background noise and I could always understand what the f the characters are saying (yes I can use the transcripts but it's really not the same experience)
You know, I thought back in season one that Elias was the Web. I thought that was the trick, the Web holding things in place so that they could be Seen. There were those physical interactions, the web vs the worms, you know, the worms dying in the tunnels and getting wrapped up. Anyway, it just didn't happen for so long I sort of forgot, or assumed I was wrong. Interesting that the Eye isn't one of the sentient Fears. I guess it can only see what's in front of it, can't retain it. That's why it needed Jon out there in the world, and why the Archives existed, why Jon could feed off of old statements. It must "forget" once the statements end.
it is already completed! it ended over a month ago (i think? maybe longer) at this point, their youtube uploads are just behind their uploads on podcast platforms
Honestly I kinda suspected the tapes had something to do with the Web because they seemed to follow them... as if manipulated by an invisible string... But this... whoa... When I say mind blown I hope you take that in a slightly literal sense because my head hurts after this episode and the stress marks on my forehead are going to stay there for a long long time
First-time listener here So... the implication here is that the fears are now in our world? With the tapes having been brought here in the form of a podcast? Or am I reading too far into this? Edit by future me: ok, now I know. That was a wild ride
Oh my god, this is one of the coolest things ever. The excitement this causes in me is immeasurable-I kind of want to go jump or run around for a bit to get rid of all this excess energy. It’s just… THIS IS SO FUCKING COOL AAARRGGHH!!!!! My gratefulness can’t be recounted in words. To everyone who is a part of this podcast. I simultaneously want to know what’s about to happen and never continue because otherwise this experience will end :,) this is such a masterpiece.
Wait... WAIT... Hold on a second. I don't think I understand The Web's motives. (spoilers) Like, if the Web really saw that a Fearpocalypse would stop everything's existences, why didn't It try to kill John in the very beginning ? The Spider definitely knew that Elias was going to use the Archivist to open the Door, and I don't think It wanted a very tasteful meal before disappearing or without a way out, that sounds reckless... so why didn't It destroy John BEFORE, like Michael almost did ? Does that mean the Spider doesn't want John dead ? But neither does Martin, and Annabelle said that Martin being too close to John changed her plan so... what was her plan in the first place ? She decided to tell the truth but what lies was she going to say ? She probably didn't tell the truth, though... Why does she need John ALIVE ? Or more like... why does she need John to destroy the Archives ? To weaken the Eye, sure, but again, the Spider could have done it ages ago. Or maybe... maybe the Spider wants to take control (which is... kind of Its thing). Wants to replace the Eye and become the "First Fear" through John, who is definitely connected to the Web (how many times was that poor guy manipulated ? not to mention the tapes) and who It could use as an conduit, and then when this world is almost out of juice It would push all of the Fears into another one... ... Anyway, I don't like it. I have only three epiosdes next and I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
The Spider was widening this crack in reality the whole time. The Fears were always trying to come into this world, but it wasn't coming from the crack. It existed in a layer around reality unrelated to the crack. The Spider just recognized a way to expand their influence outside of this reality, and wanted it. John's tapes were the catalyst for achieving the Spider's goals, and the fearpocalypse was necessary for the Fears to be able to move into the other reality. Each was a step in a plan to expand their influence.
Does anyone think they accidentally passed this reality on to the protocol reality ? And that’s why Celia Georgie and other names from this series have started to pop up in the protocol?? Is the crack a gateway to the protocol world ?
As much as I love augmented voices, such as Bill Cipher's, Annabelle is this episode and Jared Hopworth were so hard to understand... I'm glad I got the gist. I feel like I've been waiting for a grand ending since season 2, but now that it's close, I'm dreading it... Well done crew!
Realizing that the Fears map well to a body. Spider to the nervous system and neurons. The eye to perception and intelligence. The hunt to our survival instincts. The flesh is obvious.
I think imagination maps to the Spiral. Schizophrenia has been associated with modern human species, rather than neanderthal. Neanderthals were intelligent, but had trouble creating mental pictures. There's almost no representative art from them. Homo Sapiens started creating art almost as soon as they diverged, and schizophrenia, the disease of unrestrained imagination, is found less in people with more neanderthal DNA and more in people with greater modern human DNA. The Eye may be perception, but it isn't really patterns. I think thats the Web. And the simplest intelligence, even of simple organisms, is pattern recognition. There is an arguement that consciousness was simply a function to map and better find food than just what you randomly bumped into.
I'm not sure anything Annabelle said can be trusted. For example: There's a reason some believe you shouldn't even accept knowledge of prophecies. There's no guarantee what you think they mean will actually happen, it could be a tricksy opposite like the classic "If you invade this country a great empire will fall", even if you trusted the truthfulness of the teller. Twisting yourself around to follow a prophecy or avoid a prophecy means you're NOT LOOKING at a more complete picture. A prophecy is just one possible path, not necessarily the only, or best path.
I would be funny as hell if we didnt get to hear the rest of the tapes because thers no need for them anymore, or if John just threw in the lighter, lol

4 DAYS AGO?? I throught this was a completed series!
it is already completed! it ended over a month ago (i think? maybe longer) at this point, their youtube uploads are just behind their uploads on podcast platforms
Finally caught up, and just in time!
Congrats!~
Honestly I kinda suspected the tapes had something to do with the Web because they seemed to follow them... as if manipulated by an invisible string... But this... whoa... When I say mind blown I hope you take that in a slightly literal sense because my head hurts after this episode and the stress marks on my forehead are going to stay there for a long long time
When you realize the TMA logo is actually a web in the shape of a cassette tape.
First-time listener here
So... the implication here is that the fears are now in our world?
My mind is completely blown. There was no way I could have seen this coming.
That's why the logo is a tape made of a web, the entire time the Web has been controlling things from the start, not the Eye as we thought.
MISS ANNABELLE CANE THANK YOU FOR MY FUCKING LIFE AGAIN
That moment you realize the logo has a lot of areas that look like webs if you look. Like the holes in the "tape" or the bottom two line areas
....the whole thing IS a web. thats the point.
"blah blah Dream Logic blah," he did it again!
When the Web talks about the long game, they mean a really, really long game.
As the kids say these days: POG PEAK FICTION 👏👏
THE LIGHTER OF COURSE!!!
I was cleaning whilst listenibg to this episode and found a false widow spider in my room ffs 😢
M: so let’s talk then
A: ok then ….
M:…..
Me too buddy. Me too
The web after giving John the lighter: “It’s a surprise tool that will help us later”
Wait...
WAIT...
Hold on a second.
I don't think I understand The Web's motives.
(spoilers)
Like, if the Web really saw that a Fearpocalypse would stop everything's existences, why didn't It try to kill John in the very beginning ?
If it would start all over in another reality, did it happen before this one?
Did another Archivist face this exact same decision John does now?
Does anyone think they accidentally passed this reality on to the protocol reality ? And that’s why Celia Georgie and other names from this series have started to pop up in the protocol?? Is the crack a gateway to the protocol world ?
Thinking so
You should probably put a spoiler tag on this comment 🤔
The web is so freaking cool man
As much as I love augmented voices, such as Bill Cipher's, Annabelle is this episode and Jared Hopworth were so hard to understand... I'm glad I got the gist. I feel like I've been waiting for a grand ending since season 2, but now that it's close, I'm dreading it... Well done crew!
i mean, it kinda make sense the tape recorder are from the web since we are listening to them on the World Wide Web...
Frick you. I- why would you make my think about that. t-.
YOOOO THE LIGHTER aaaa i love this so much aaaaa
martin protection squad!!!
Such a good thing to wake up to this
Okay wow that was really on level with the Entites reveal, and THIS was not spoled for me by the shiddy "spoiler safe" Wiki
This is one of the best... I want Magnum Archives 2...
So, guess what?
fantastic news
Big sis Basira ready to safe her Martin ❤❤❤
14:57 he said it he said the line :00
in all seriousness though, this is amazing writing and I'm highly enjoying it!!
Hmmmm wait a minute… I LIVE IN THE MULTIVERSE
I understand that it's a morality question of like would you do a whole different reality to save your own? The answer is yes for me. I would do it
I keep thinking Annabelle is saying "vault" instead of "world"
This was such a great episode omg I love Annabel 😂❤
Already seeing it on Ivoox but there I go.
rip ppl with audioprocessing disorder 🙏💚
I'm not sure anything Annabelle said can be trusted.
For example: There's a reason some believe you shouldn't even accept knowledge of prophecies. There's no guarantee what you think they mean will actually happen, it could be a tricksy opposite like the classic "If you invade this country a great empire will fall", even if you trusted the truthfulness of the teller. Twisting yourself around to follow a prophecy or avoid a prophecy means you're NOT LOOKING at a more complete picture. A prophecy is just one possible path, not necessarily the only, or best path.
Everyone else’s Annabelle spider still have curly dark hair?
Just me.
I would be funny as hell if we didnt get to hear the rest of the tapes because thers no need for them anymore, or if John just threw in the lighter, lol
Havent listened in a while, only three episodes away from the finale and i took a break to prepare myself for the grieving process (i got spoilers from tiktok). I kinda forgot whats happening, but its good to be back.
