Dave, I've watched this video a few times now too..as well as others you've uploaded. I think I've put my finger on what has inspired me most about your layouts..this one in particular and the old one that went into the other room.. This track plan easily fits my available room. Shortly I will have 12x20 to work with.. 20' on one wall..17' opposite and 12' wide. This is sort of what you have here. As I think I've mentioned to you in the past I have been in nothing but N scale since entering the hobby a number of years ago. In the past year I've been introduced to O..and it has taken my interest in a big way.. my hangup was after being in N.. could I have a layout in O that would be satisfying in the space I will soon have. You have proven it can be done..And, that is why I keep coming back to your channel and re watching what you've accomplished. BTW.. are you using Gargraves track and Ross switches? I've been checking track and I'm narrowing it down to Atlas and Gargraves. Lionel Fastrack is my least fav.. I sort of like Realtrax..but, I'm reading about problems with the track after it has been connected and reconnected a few times after making changes in the track plan. Ok...I've rambled enough.. thank you for sharing your layout. Tom

The two LIONEL CARGILL covered hoppers could have SOO reporting marks and road numbers put on them to make them look like the second hand covered hoppers that the SOO acquired in the 1990's.

Nice up date. The Rio Grande engines look like SD70ACe are they both powered engines? I like the way your layout flows from the lower level to the upper level. I wish there was more room in my basement to have a lower level connect to my upper level.Anyway I'm glad for the room I have. Greetings Nick from New Jersey

They are SD70ACe. Both engines are powered and are legacy controlled. We always dream for a bigger room for a layout. Mine is about 8'x20'. Check out my recent update, made progress on scenery.

I bought a LIONEL ADM BioProducts ACF covered hoppers to strip off all the paint and apply the paint scheme of a railroad that actually had ACF CENTER FLOW 3560 CU FT 3-bay covered hoppers, such as ILLINOIS CENTRAL GULF.

Andrew Falconer what do you use for the lettering when you change the road names on a car? I put decals on a postwar tender to Chang it from lionel lines to Chicago Northwestern, but they fell off after some time. That was the only time I tired to modify a car.

I applied MicroScale decals with Microscale solvents. There are also HIGHBALL Graphics decals. There are decals at alleghenyscale.com. It is also possible to apply self-adhesive vinyl letters to O scale cars.
