      Seriously bro, you need to stop using clickbait words like OUTRAGE all the time. For the most part, your videos are generally well informed and interesting enough to watch, but it gets tiresome how all these games caused “Outrage”, when most of them didn’t. It reeks of desperation. At the very least, try and find some better / different words

    Couple of things the year it broke 5k at evo was the year it launched and can largely be attributed to being the hype train from the massive success that was sf4. People by in large made the effort to go to that evo because it was the beginning of a new ride they had every reason to expect would be awesome. Most people paid for entry and travel way before the game was out. From a fgc point of view sf5 was also a disaster with not only being a poor street fighter gameplay wise but also it managed to wreak havoc on the fgc community numbers post release. Big websites lost thousands of regulars, local events started to dry up, streamers lost viewership etc.
    Also despite this sfv outsold sf4 thanks to the groundwork layed by sf4 and mvc3. In short prior to the release sf5 had everything going for it and it blew it big time for casual (who are the grassroots of the fgc) and for the fgc. God I hope they learn lessons for sf6

    As someone who bought the game Day 1, there's things I wanted to add of why the game pissed people off:
    - The Servers: Everything in the game ran on the servers, even if you were offline. In order to get Fight Money, you needed to be on the servers when completing something. There were times within that first month where the servers would randomly cut on you & if you were in a position where you were in a match or far in survivor mode, you'd have to restart from the beginning or the match was cancelled. In addition, there was no punishment for rage quitting for a long time. So you lost out on Fight Money if you were winning. Apparently, Capcom only had one person working on the entire netcode & server.
    - Character Changes & Balance Issues: For starters, there was 8 frames of intentional input lag added to the offline version of the game, making things practically unplayable. In addition, there were changes to characters that shouldn't have happened, Vega is the epitome of this, or balancing & gameplay decisions that made some characters horrible, *glares at Zangief*.
    Street fighter V is practically the epitome of what happens when you put more focus on trying to create your own scene over making a game as good as possible. You get something rushed out that had no reason to be released that not only pissed off casuals, but even parts of your hardcore base.

      Rose doesn't even make an appearance in the entire story mode or even helps the heroes despite the fact that her SOUL POWER was the ONLY thing that has long been established in the lore/history of SF that could take down bison.

    Crappy art direction with ugly models, paywall of characters and unnecessary censorship ( I miss u booty smack Rmika special& cammy sexy intro!) were the disasters of SF5 on launch. Even today, if it weren't for it costumes and additional characters, it wouldn't be as enjoyable as past entries!

    Please don't do anymore Street Fighter games until you man up and start pronouncing Ryu's name properly. I have 100% proof it's pronounced ReeYou/Riyuu. That is so disrespectful. Real Japanese people have that name and you and your EGO still refuses to properly pronounce the name. When Japanese say the name the R sound rolls off of the tongue quickly, so it sounds kind of like the D sound. Next, the speed at which it is said makes it sound like Duu or Ruu sometimes, but most often you can clearly hear the person saying Riyuu/ReeYou and definitely not like you're pronouncing it, as Raiyu/Rayu.

    • @TopHatGamingManChannel
      @TopHatGamingManChannel  3 года назад +1

      I will pronounce words however damn way I please!
      I agree though to pronounce Ryu differently only the moment all Japanese people stop calling Mcdonalds - Makudonarudo! If you can make that happen, I will give in to your demands.
      I think this is a more than fair deal.

    • @Motouyuu
      @Motouyuu 3 года назад

      @@TopHatGamingManChannel It's a little harder for Japanese to pronounce some letters properly because of their language by default, which teaches them to pronounce vowels differently.
      Also Ryu is a Japanese name and McDonald's is not, so they try to come close as possible. If they speak English on the other hand they pronounce it properly. It's definitely not an EGO thing like the way you do it, because you Pronounce Ryo's name properly.

    I was prepared to get a PS4 specifically because of Street Fighter V. Then I saw the negative reviews and the approach Capcom took with the Franchise and it was an easy no thanks. I'm not paying full price plus what would probably amount to the cost of an Xbox One X or PS5 on the reseller market for a game that will likely never be complete, despite all the updates and "upgrades".
    Paid DLC, Loot boxes and all those other forms of monetary transactions should be made illegal but that's how gaming is now and it's a real shame in my opinion.

    I was a day one buyer. Sigh.. it really bites how much was missing. Bare bones, small roster (and inaccessible music) only at certain points , character themes will play.
    I just couldn't recommend V to anyone. Back then, and now I still feel honestly sick that I was hyped, it wasn't ready. It was crap. Us day one buyers were actually beta players.
    Eventually more stuff rolled in, feature and content wise. But that would take awhile. Biggest downside, most of this was kept away in a season pass or optional out of pocket expenses.
    Sure you could acquire FM, the currency in V. But it would take forever, unless you're devoted to online play. Or ranking up.
    Censorship. Seriously this part bugs me. If we the players could have an option to turn those features back on. It's just silly. *It was based on their sponsors, which is why they took those segments away, Capcom felt it would not be presentable due to outside audiences. Uh.. it's just dumb, let the game keep it's personality.
    V day one, a big disappointment.
    Note: I'm not an e-sports fan. I might glance at some things. I just enjoy the game
    I look forward to more of your coverage of V, and other recent games this past gen

    This game is a complete cluster fuck, shitting on the legacy the franchise has build over the past decades. I made the mistake and bought this game and the available fighters and stages is just laughable at best. Most of the legendary fighters are not available to play as, and the amount of available stages is poor. I paid full price on this game and yet Capcom expects me to pay more to build the game to its full form? No thanks. Some time ago I calculated the total price and if memory serves, it came close to 200€ to buy all the missing features. As a fan since SFII, I have this to say: Fuck off capcom. I'll never buy another SF game again, if you plan on releasing it in "a skeleton form", expecting people to spend crazy amounts of money, to get the content that should have been there from the get go.

    Street Fighter V will go down for me as the worst Street Fighter in history. The god damn long loading times, 2 years without an arcade mode, the constant clipping through character models, the dumbest way to unlock default colors is to do the time consuming survival mode OR pay for it, the amount of costumes that are $4 a pop, you get no stages with the season pass even though you own the character, fight money is a joke and is unsatisfying getting just 50 when most of the shop require thousands of points, the V system is not good, no variety in supers, some characters feel awful to play compared to their SF4 playstyles. The only thing good I can say is the soundtrack and Capcom costumes. That's it.
    Street Fighter VI handled this infinitely better, original arcade intros and endings, rival fights to give you more lore with these characters, focus attacks are the most fun mechanic for the revival, packs of character costumes instead of just CHUN LI WARDROBE THE FIGHTING GAME, yet they went with this free to play motto even though some hardcore fans like me bought it day one for $60, or a hundred with that collector's edition. No matter how many characters they decide to put in, its not gonna change my mind. I even take Street Fighter X Tekken as a better game than V even without the mods.

      Wait " then continued to nickel and dime its core fan base with all the iterations"? What? All the iterations? What they hell are you talking about there. In the course of 5 years its only been the original, SFV Arcade Edtion and lastly Champion Edition and that's all but you say it as if there were tons and this is 5 years too. You want nickle and diming look at Mortal Kombat 11, in the course of less than two year, yes you heard that right less than two years there have been 4 MK11 games. MK11, MK11 premium edition, MK11 Aftermath and MK11 Ultimate all without even reaching two years and its still getting standalone DLC separate from the Ultimate edition. Tekken 7 same thing 3 editions and the Ultimate Edition only has two seaon passes when it has 4 of them which means you can buy the ultimate and still need to get season pass 3 and season pass 4 which comes with a game mode and frame data. Now that's nickle and diming you when they sell you modes and frame data to play and learn when Tekken 7 came with the same amount of content as SFV or so. To this day people still call it incomplete and are boycotting it in the FGC because of season 4. Namco is the EA of fighters now. So yeah almost all fighters are worse than capcom but as SFV is more popular it takes the heat while the other worse games get less heat but are as guilty if not moreso. Remember MK11 has more versions in two years than SFV has in 5 years.

I liked it! Little ass 6th grade me actually throughly enjoyed the game. And I didnt even have PSplus to play online, I would typically do the chapter mode (or whatever it was with those picture cutscenes) and there was this one mode similar to arcade. The anemic release was so awful that it convinced me to crack open the UnrealEd and script an ugly “Arcade Mode” that just acted like an automated vs. CPU mode (hidden, poorly, beneath a makeshift UI).
    The censorship to appease pearl-clutching Karens was also bypassed by mods. I’m so tired of Marxist-infected western modernism trying impose its sickness on eastern media creators. I had to mod in “Christ The Redeemer” onto the hill in the Brasil map because the metal dong Capcom placed up there to appeased the anti-Christians looks stupid (and I’m not even Christian).
    Making it in the Unreal Engine was the best decision Capcom made with this game because it’s exposed the game to community-created content to compensate for its failings.
