Yes man. G2 is a strong team. They almost beat BLG. I don’t see BLG winning the title this year even they are on 1st seed. it seems that LNG might be a stronger team right now in lpl. and in lck T1 GenG and HLE. even though T1 didn’t win against TES. base on their next performances they are a better team compared to TES. TES and BLG on par then the 4 teams I provided are the top tier this worlds for me. If only G2 won against BLG and they face TES they have a chance to reach semis. but it will be a tough one on semis because its either T1 GenG HLE or LNG teams they will face and it’s a BO5. Interms of Mechanically with the champions LCK and LPL only has a slight edge it’s almost they are on par it’s just that the macro and decision making of LCK and LPL are too good that’s why G2 lost against BLG. @@jacobkendall9895 I mean doing baron was okay tho. The problem was, that they were unaware of the tp which caused them to try to fight. Fighting was the mistake in this case. The play shouldve been to do the nash as it was no 50/50 because of smite & kalista advantage and flash out of the pit or even ryze r out of the pit into safety.. Maybe they would lose yike and micky but they would secure nash on BB and Caps, which wouldve been crucial to this game. This would lead them to force at least two tier 2 turrets and a gold advantage of +3k gold (as they were ahead like 800gold before the nash). So it was very winnable but whoever made the call to fight instead of finishing nash inted the series right there.
I really do hate how toxic some EU and NA fans are to each other. Its pretty pathetic to see. As an NA resident, I can easily say G2 has proven that they can compete with the best teams in the world. Sure, all the result focused nobodies are gonna say that "um actually g2 lost so it doesn't matter," but the fact is that G2 is the ONLY western team that has been consistently trying to bridge the gap between the west and lck/lpl. They were the best macro team we had, and sadly as we see from Worlds, LEC macro is just a bit shit. G2 were constantly getting caught on rotations while being behind on them too, and then the traditional LEC "force a fight or objective" when they just need to calm their tits and play it slow. Also, the heavy focus on Orianna Nocturne across multiple series showing they didn't even seem to understand their own strengths as a team, or got scared into not playing into them. And thus my Worlds viewing experience ends with another whimper.
yup, the western teams have awful macro and that's the huge bonus the LPL/LCK teams have over them now. In mechanics you can argue it's not that much a gap, but as a team and playing the map they just fell flat.
The whole Swiss system needs reworking or outright scrapping. G2 goes out having to face LPL/LCK teams in four out of their five matches, yet there's going to be an NA team in the Quarter-Finals whose "toughest" win will be against their own region. There may be conflict with the whole "no rematch" thing, but they need to look if it's possible to have "no same regions" as well. If not, they need to scrap Swiss and move to a modified Groups system. (maybe two groups of eight where the top 3 from each group qualify for QF, and the last two spots are filled by the fourth rank of Group A in a BO1 or BO3 match against the fifth place of Group B, and the reverse for the fourth place in Group B)

Honestly BLG and HLE are the biggest disappointments of swiss stage for me. With that level of play they will get kicked out in first round. As G2 hater, they played well, props to them. East is just miles ahead, having good games against them is great achievement. G2 fans should be proud
1:02:49 watch the Sylas rather. Hans rend as the Sylas came out of Zhonyas and didn't kill him so it put the ability on cooldown. But he was too tunnel vission on Rumble and didn't noticed. That's why he stuck around and walked back trying to rend after Rumble's Zhonyas expired. Bro literally pressing an empty button and loosed the game because of it.
Looking back, if G2 just picked Sylas 1st before Taric, they could have won or had a better chance winning. I was not happy when they picked Taruc 1st instead of blind picking Sylas in the second pick phase. They 1st picked Taric which is good because of his ult but they just gave away a good ult by letting Sylas go. They did good though almost winning but overforced Baron lost them the game.
Literally no bug, there were spears in Sylas that did rend damage, but didn’t kill, therefore no rend cooldown reset. Hansama literally just cried to the ref for not being the better adc and got instant karma for it. G2 played well but Hansama completely lost his composure and made a fool of himself.
It's literally like a 0.1 second gap between Sylas coming out of hourglass and Rumble going into hourglass and you know Hans is spamming e at that point, there's no person in the world who wouldn't have complained about their rend being bugged if this happened to them in a soloQ game, much less if it's your last game at Worlds. No need to be an absolute dickhead just because Hans wasn't as good as a top 2 ADC in the world.
I think G2 is actually really good the true western team that should had went. They deserve a those chance next year with the same roster. I see a bunch of improvements happening

If you are serious about winning and becoming the best, it doesnt matter who you face, you beat them. Man the comment about how luck does not matter on draws I completely disagree. Caedrel already said it, but the clear example of that is Weibo last year. You can get a lucky draw and just perform the day it matters (Weibo on semifinals) and you can even get to finals. Another example is LNG this tournament. They had to beat TL, BLG (who is underperforming) and DK (who didn't make it out of Swiss being arguably the worst eastern team together with Wbg). Now they have to beat WBG and just like that they are on semis. No coping, but if G2 or FLY had the same draw, they would had a high chance of being on semis (by performace on swiss, G2 and probably FLY are much likely better than DK and Wbg). And then they would just had to perform well on semis vs probably HLE (who we saw is beatable on the close game vs G2 and the series where FLY took a game), and just like that they are on finals. I'm not saying that would've happened, but if you think about it, a lucky draw can make you get into semis or finals without having to beat the better teams (by performance on Swiss, I would say GENG, T1, TES and LNG are probably the best looking and those first 3 will eliminate each other before finals). So yeah I know I wrote a lot, but just wanted to express the opinion that draw can matter a lot.

While G2 not making quarters due to a bad draw is sad, there was no way they were making it past quarters with this level of play. They're nowhere near the level of the top teams in the tournament (TES, T1, GenG and LNG by the looks of things). At the end of the day worlds is about the best teams in the world, and G2 are max 7-8th right now, they had no shot. I really enjoyed the swiss system, we get to see so many more interesting matches than we did in group stage.

As a T1 fan since 2015 and a G2 fan since that fated win against T1 years ago, it kinda sucks not to see their rematch in Paris. Also, T1 and G2 are similar in a way that they give their fans heart attacks every game they’re playing in. Swiss is flawed because the seeding is flawed. Correct seeding for this not to happen again is lck lpl top3 on at least seed 1 and 2 together with eu and na top1 on seed 2.
The draw is fkin stupid. How can you draw 3 tournament favourites back to back. It's pure luck at this point if you draw unbeatable asian teams to get eliminated early, or play against wildcard and minor regions to see you cruise through without an issue.

Fighting was the mistake in this case. The play shouldve been to do the nash as it was no 50/50 because of smite & kalista advantage and flash out of the pit or even ryze r out of the pit into safety..
Maybe they would lose yike and micky but they would secure nash on BB and Caps, which wouldve been crucial to this game. This would lead them to force at least two tier 2 turrets and a gold advantage of +3k gold (as they were ahead like 800gold before the nash).
So it was very winnable but whoever made the call to fight instead of finishing nash inted the series right there.

I really do hate how toxic some EU and NA fans are to each other. Its pretty pathetic to see. As an NA resident, I can easily say G2 has proven that they can compete with the best teams in the world. They were the best macro team we had, and sadly as we see from Worlds, LEC macro is just a bit shit. G2 were constantly getting caught on rotations while being behind on them too, and then the traditional LEC "force a fight or objective" when they just need to calm their tits and play it slow. Also, the heavy focus on Orianna Nocturne across multiple series showing they didn't even seem to understand their own strengths as a team, or got scared into not playing into them. And thus my Worlds viewing experience ends with another whimper.
I would say TL macro is better. It's just g2 had better coordination and much better execution, making their macro actually effective.

The whole Swiss system needs reworking or outright scrapping. G2 goes out having to face LPL/LCK teams in four out of their five matches, yet there's going to be an NA team in the Quarter-Finals whose "toughest" win will be against their own region. There may be conflict with the whole "no rematch" thing, but they need to look if it's possible to have "no same regions" as well. If not, they need to scrap Swiss and move to a modified Groups system. (maybe two groups of eight where the top 3 from each group qualify for QF, and the last two spots are filled by the fourth rank of Group A in a BO1 or BO3 match against the fifth place of Group B, and the reverse for the fourth place in Group B)

Literally no bug, there were spears in Sylas that did rend damage, but didn’t kill, therefore no rend cooldown reset. Hansama literally just cried to the ref for not being the better adc and got instant karma for it. G2 played well but Hansama completely lost his composure and made a fool of himself.

Man the comment about how luck does not matter on draws I completely disagree. Caedrel already said it, but the clear example of that is Weibo last year. You can get a lucky draw and just perform the day it matters (Weibo on semifinals) and you can even get to finals. Another example is LNG this tournament. They had to beat TL, BLG (who is underperforming) and DK (who didn't make it out of Swiss being arguably the worst eastern team together with Wbg). Now they have to beat WBG and just like that they are on semis. No coping, but if G2 or FLY had the same draw, they would had a high chance of being on semis (by performace on swiss, G2 and probably FLY are much likely better than DK and Wbg). And then they would just had to perform well on semis vs probably HLE (who we saw is beatable on the close game vs G2 and the series where FLY took a game), and just like that they are on finals. I'm not saying that would've happened, but if you think about it, a lucky draw can make you get into semis or finals without having to beat the better teams (by performance on Swiss, I would say GENG, T1, TES and LNG are probably the best looking and those first 3 will eliminate each other before finals). So yeah I know I wrote a lot, but just wanted to express the opinion that draw can matter a lot.

While G2 not making quarters due to a bad draw is sad, there was no way they were making it past quarters with this level of play. They're nowhere near the level of the top teams in the tournament (TES, T1, GenG and LNG by the looks of things). At the end of the day worlds is about the best teams in the world, and G2 are max 7-8th right now, they had no shot. I really enjoyed the swiss system, we get to see so many more interesting matches than we did in group stage.

Swiss is flawed because the seeding is flawed. Correct seeding for this not to happen again is lck lpl top3 on at least seed 1 and 2 together with eu and na top1 on seed 2.

The draw is fkin stupid. How can you draw 3 tournament favourites back to back. It's pure luck at this point if you draw unbeatable asian teams to get eliminated early, or play against wildcard and minor regions to see you cruise through without an issue.
lets be fair, T1 aren't tournament favourites. They've clearly shown up to worlds, that's fair to say! However they looked like shit coming into worlds... HLE and BLG 100% were 2 of the 3 favourites however, which is rough af.
Well you can't cruise to swiss stage because favorites will be on 2-0 or 2-1 bracket. And like Caedrel said on his pickems they could be team kills so some good teams are on 1-2. Look at DK from 2-0 to 2-3.It's just that other regions are far stronger. But yeah I agree with the 2-2 draw sucks. But they could have won the series if not for the Baron throw, so you we can't blame the draws. They played really good this series but still if they can't beat the LPL/LCK teams they have no chance winning it at all. So quarters is the best they can do if they got Fly TL DK who knows.

Their ADC and top are really bad if they import they could actually be a threat no good EU tops or ADC's.
Maybe Adam could be good if he's got some leadership.
