Lol the whole video is still under a year's old "attack Jokic, weak defender" Yada Yada when he finished the night with 4 steals and a block and disrupted a wild amount of GS's offense. While also being the best offensive weapon since MJ on the other end. Jokic and KCP were the most impactful defenders in either team last night

When defending in the paint, Jokic is biased towards stealing the ball, rather than towards defending at the rim.
As he collapses in the paint while covering his man, he remains semi-bent forward, his hands constantly swiping & probing for a steal or deflection.
But, this leaves him out of position to block at the rim. This is why we don't see many attempts to block at the rim.
The defender has to make the decision on whether to focus on attempting to block at the rim or attempt to steal/deflect? Usually cannot do both at the same time!
I wonder though how different may his defensive prowess be if he re-focused on defending the rim, rather than stealing the ball... @@daddyfuse50

Gordon is so important to their game. Dude has one of the best off ball movements in the entire league. The fact that hes huge and athletic and can guard wings and bigs gives them so much freedom in their approach. Sure murray and jokic are the stars, but he is the x-factor

Yeah i agree when dennver is talked about its all about the Jokic - Murry Duo, but damn when Jokic lays up Gordan i swear half of the time i don`t understand how did the Joker even know Gordon will be there. And also half of those layups are easy buckets for the Joker anyway, like this exact shot against the warriors for the Joker thats an 80% anyway. And if thats the case there are only two reason i can think of why he makes it an assist anyway.
      A) He really actually just wants his team to get some - which sounds like him.
      B) He gives it to Gordon just to mess with the defence even more. I mean the Joker is still the actuall Problem wheter he makes the bucket himself or lays it up, but i imagine its harder for the defence to focus on him if they have a picture of gordon dunking a layup in the back of their mind.

The Nuggets are the new age Spurs and today's fan are gonna have to deal with it. If Jokic wins one more MVP, ring and FMVP he's in my Top 10 All-Time list without a doubt.
(This kept getting deleted so I'll just post it here)
-Magic heavily benefited from playing with Kareem and James Worthy in all the times he's won a championship. Curry proved he can win with significantly less help in 2022 against Boston who were heavily favoured to win.
-Even before that Curry looks like an absolute outlier in 3-year Offensive RAPM ranking first in his 2016-18 stretch. He's also ranked 2nd (15'-17') and 3rd (17'-19').
-In the Playoffs between 2016-19 the Warriors outscored opponents by 10pts per 48mins with Curry on the floor. That impact metric beats out O'Neal in 1999-02, LeBron in 2014-17, Duncan in 01-04, and Garnett in 08-12. He looks like a complete outlier.
-Both Magic and Curry are one way players, so I don't even have to mention their defense since both aren't very impactful yet not negatives. Magic would guard unskilled forwards and would be constantly beat by quick guards. Curry was an average defender but due to lack of size could be considered a weakness.
-Magic needed to be the engine of their offense which prompted great results, leading teams to great ORTG relative to league average at the time, but Curry could also replicate the same offensive impact without needing the ball. Probably the greatest off-ball scorer ever, GOAT level off-ball gravity and spacing which can warp defenses and create open shots for teammates without needing the ball.
-Head to head: Curry ranks in the 96th percentile in scoring rate vs Magic's 62nd percentile. Curry ranks in the 95th percentile in efficiency/TS% vs Magic's 88th. Curry ranks in the 99th percentile in Spacing vs Magic's 51st. Magic ranks in 99th percentile more specifically 1st all time in Passer Rating vs Curry's 73rd.
-And no, Kobe is not above Curry. Kobe was incredibly inefficient compared to Curry, never lead his team to the same heights offensively as Curry, was significantly less skilled in playmaking, Kobe was incredibly ball dominant while Curry was more versatile.
-Kobe's best PPG in his championship runs was in 2003 where he scored 32.1PPG in the entirety of the Playoffs at a horrendous 53.2TS%. Kobe's most efficient championship run was in 2001 at 29.4PPG and 55.6TS%. This season's league average TS% by a SG is 57.5%. Curry's best PPG in his championship runs was in 2019 at 28.2PPG at 63.1TS%. Curry's most efficient championship run was in 2017 scoring 28.1PPG on a staggering 67.2TS%, basically doesn't miss at all. Curry had very similar results in PPG Kobe has while being a significantly more efficient player. Yes, you can argue Kobe was a significantly better defender, but Curry is also a significantly better offensive player, absolutely outweighing Kobe's two way impact. Way more efficient while scoring the same output, the better playmaker, didn't need to be ball dominant, the better off-ball player, and provided better spacing.
(This whole thread is just for Curry. I'll respond in different threads for the other players).

The only way to beat this Nuggets team is to outscore them from 3 point land as well as in general. But I don't see any teams doing this consistently. The Suns did it twice last postseason, but Booker had to shoot at ridiculous efficiency just to barely win games 3 and 4 vs Denver. Unless Steph or Booker get scorching hot vs Denver they will win the championship.

Gordon is in a perfect spot. Doesn't have to be the go-to-guy, doesn't have to be a creater or scorer, but can use his strength, hops and defensive. Perfect addition Murray and Jokic.
Gordon had some outstanding scoring games vs the Heat last year in the Finals but also in the games prior, for example vs the Suns or Lakers was really dominant. You can kind of hold down Jokic and/or Murray, but when Gordon gets 15+ points, just from sprinting down court and backing down a player, or with lobs on a short PnR, or offensive rebounds, you can't win from the Nuggets.
They're cruising through the regular season now, but I'm sure they'll be really hard to beat in the PO's again this year.

Only team that has a legit shot at beating the Nuggets is the Clippers. They have two way players like George and Leonard that will hound Jamal Murray. Even though Jokic is too big for Zubac, the adjustment might be to play PJ Tucker, who will make work hard in order to score. In fact, the x factor for the Clippers would be PJ Tucker in this series. Also, Westbrook has to play defense like he did in last year playoffs against Jamal Murray. However, if George and Harden choke the Nuggets will win anyway.

MPJ went MIA last year in the playoffs and his inconsistent shooting from wide open 3s is worrying. They will miss a 3rd option now that teams are guarding AG a lot better.
