Loretta Lynn is a country legend. She is a singer songwriter who's music has spanned 6 decades. She was also friends with the great late Patsy Cline. Her younger sister Crystal Gayle also is a great singer. She grew up dirt poor & stayed humble & true to her roots. The autobiographical movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" is worth looking at. Sadly we lost Loretta last year.

Loretta Lynn is my absolute favorite! She wrote 90% of her songs all from real life experiences. She married her husband Oliver "Doo" Lynn at age 15 and 4 kids by 20. She was best friends with Patsy Cline. A lot of her songs are from her marriage. Some of my favorites are "Fist City" "Don't Come Home Drinkin with Lovin on Your Mind" and "Your Squaw is On the War Path" and the song she wrote when her husband died "I can't Hear the Music Anymore".

FYI there is a movie of the same name about Loretta's earlier life and career. My dad met her several times and adored her. Loretta wasn't afraid to tell the story that others shied away from. Check out her songs The Pill, Don't Come Home Drinking, You Ain't Woman Enough and her duet with the legendary Conway Twitty Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.

I am 59 and love all kinds of music. But I grew up on these old country artists bcz that’s what my parents listened to. I saw many of them in person including her. Loretta is my all time favorite of these oldies. She holds a special place in my heart. I have a country playlist on my Spotify and have quite a few of Loretta’s songs on there so I still listen to her all the time. The movie is one of my all time favorites too of course!

The great Loretta Lynn! You really need to listen to more of her songs. You won't be sorry! The most songs to be banned by radio stations in Country Music. Loretta didn't care & each song became a hit anyway. Once you hear more of Loretta, you'll understand why. The female singers that opened the door for future female singers are as follows
    1 Kitty Wells
    2 Patsy Cline
    3 Loretta Lynn
    4 Dolly Parton
    5 Tammy Wynette
The best of the best in Country Music.
You definitely need to watch the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter". Loretta has tons of songs. Also, you have to check out her duets with Conway Twitty. My favorite duet is "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man"
    Also ck out
    "Lead me on"
    "After the fire is gone"
    "From 7 til 10"
"As soon as l hang up the phone"
    "I still believe in waltz"
    "I can't love you enough"
    "The letter"
That's just a few. Sorry this got so long. Conway & Loretta are my favorite duet team.

    1. You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man
    2. Fist City
    3 . Ruby's Stool
She was a tiny, sweet yet outspoken lady who didn't have a problem fighting some woman messing with her husband! Oh, there were also songs about and physical fights with husband, too. But, they really did love each other. He eventually stopped cheating. She put her career on a 10 year hold to take care of him when he got sick and eventually died. She said it was "a hard love story". He was her first and only boyfriend, and her first and only husband.

Loretta Lynn was working on the third or fourth of a 5 album contract , still writing and recording songs, when she passed away at 90. Her motto was Never Stop Working, Never Retire. She had to stop touring in her 80s due to health problems. She went from being born in a 2 room shack, to her Daddy buying a bigger cabin for $600, to getting married and starting a family as a teen, to moving to the state of Washington, to buying a ranch that included a mansion on the property AND THE TOWN OF HURRICANE MILLS, Tennessee! She had a Net Worth of $65MILLION when she passed away...but, stayed as humble as when she was dirt poor. She didn't call us fans...she called us friends! And she gave to us as much of her life (including building a campground for us on her ranch) as she could, trying to repay us for all we had given her life. She was always grateful her children didn't have to grow up poor like she did. A 60 year career, tons of records, tons of awards, tons of fame, and tons of money...and she just stayed Loretta Lynn, The Coal Miner's Daughter from Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. She said she just wanted to be remembered as just a good person. Rest In Peace.

*The one thing you missed on those facts you mentioned about her is...a movie was made about her in the 80's called Coal Miner's Daughter & Sissy Spacek (hand picked by Loretta to play her) won a Golden Globe & Academy Award as best actress*

Y'all should watch the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" Sissy Spacek played Loretta Lynn and actually SANG all the songs in the movie. And the actress that played Patsy Cline in the movie also sang the Patsy Cline songs. There's also a movie about Patsy Cline.

I would like to see y'all react to Elvis' "Love Me" performance on the Ed Sullivan Show and "Trying to Get to You", which i believe he performed for his '68 Comeback Special.
