This is extremely good acting from Jennifer here.

@@imtryinghere1I hate putting down actors just trying their best, but I have to say Sophie Turner is shockingly mediocre as an actor. Game of thrones chose her for prominence and it was assumed she would get better acting instincts as she grew up but nope…she is really not great.
The rest of the cast however, especially in projects with bad writing like this it’s never fully the actors’ faults. Bad directing and writing ruins performances.
We know that Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Holt and James McAvoy can act their asses off and have done before.
I’d say-if you can-always blame bad performances on bad direction first until proven otherwise.

Technically all Mystique had to do was climb off the spike and shape shift into someone else. Her cells would have etched back together and she would have been healed. Her official powers do include a healing factor. But Jennifer Lawrence really wanted out of this franchise.

If they had killed someone else it would have made more since, but this whole movie kind of takes away from the cannon of the other movies. It should have ended with days of future past wrapping it all up in a nice bow. Matter of fact Disney Plus has up to apocylpse, meaning in their cannon the last movie doesn't exist!

He immediately lost control of her power too, as shown right after when Hank is able to move again, and we can see tears in his eyes this whole time

Well Jean has little to no control. She couldve turned Raven into ash. I can imagine why she has a problem controling herself. Since her power has an absolute control over atom. Take Magneto as an example. He can just easily lift off a stadium. Since his power gives him manipulation over metal. He can just feel those metal in it. Jean however, she needs to concentrate to know the difference of blood and flesh and the air molecules around it. I cant really explain any further. Not really a fond of english vocab.

There must have been several cuts of Jame's reaction, and the director decided to include this one. The franchise wasn't exactly known for consistent and good story and direction.

I know that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender get lots of praise, rightly so, but Nicholas Hoult is really good in this. Even acting through all that make up, he's phenomenal.
Charles in X-Men Days of Future Past: Sad, Broken alcoholic, Gave up on his powers cuz everyone left, particularly Mystique.

Goes to show that Oscar wins and other acting accolades don't necessarily make you a good fit for every character you play. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos was "just a model" and yet she played Mystique with conviction, aplomb, and gusto, while Oscar-winning Lawrence seemed to be reading from a teleprompter (and badly, at that). I am hoping that if an eventual MCU X-Men film gets to play with multiverse shenanigans, Romijn-Stamos makes a surprise appearance (ideally, giving Wolverine another good fight).

Rebecca is the real faithful to the comic adaption of Mystique. A real murderous villain and a Mother of Rogue and Night Crawler.
She can shapeshift, she can just rearrange her cells thru shapeshifting so her body can heal its wounds, sewing it together.
She also has superhuman healing factor, so i dont know how the hell she wud die from getting stabbed like that.
Also, her shapeshifting also grants her the ability to move her organs, the moment she gets thrown off she can just move her organs out of the way so they wont get stabbed by the sharp planks.
Or maybe jennifer lawrence just wanted to be out the franchise anymore so they killed her character.

It's the latter but I'd still point out that that's not how her powers work, she can't shapeshift into anything and she doesn't have a healing factor in the level of Logan's where she would've been able to heal from THIS
Jennifer had stated she wasn't sure of her career in X-Men, so it's most likely they killed her off. But realistically, knowing mystique she could have just used this, as a means to rebuild a life. From quite a few comics I've seen and shows, she seems to find ways of blocking Charles and other telepaths, who knows. Plus, not much anyone can do about itx it's been filmed, you either like it or don't!.

i really wish we could have seen a happier ending for beast and mystique. she loved him from the moment she met him cause he made her feel less alone in the world. but when he said she would never be seen as beautiful (he meant by society and at the time, he was VERY self-conscience about his mutation), that hit her hard. so hard, that she kept running back to erik cause he cared about her as she was. but when mystique told beast how his words impacted her, you could see it in his face that he loved her and never meant to hurt her. i do like that she was able to say "i love you" to him before she died though.

_Last Stand_ is certainly the weakest of the original three, but it gets a terribly undeserved bad rap. Besides, compared to the _other_ Marvel threequel out around that time ( _Spider-Man 3_ ), _Last Stand_ IS a masterpiece.

I was under the assumption that Mystique had a healing factor, minor or near-fatal injuries would be healed...did the writers forget this plot point or was it the fact that Jennifer no longer wanted to play the role due to the makeup etc and they killed her off? They could've easily recast is necessary.
Of course at the time this was being filmed, the studio may have had plans for more movies in the franchise, so with Lawrence wanting out they killed her off, not realizing they wouldn't have to as there would likely be no more films with this particular cast. Any new films would be a near complete reboot and most if not all roles would be recast with a new group of actors that could be in at least 5 or 6 films over a decade or so and willing to commit to that as they don't yet have lots of other lucrative offers or are desperate to chase an award before they reach an age where casting options are more limited. It could also be that the writers felt that Jean killing Mystique would help make her much more villainous and see a much greater danger.
You'd think they'd have had her vaporised like Xavier, since it's the most decisive way to take her out. Then no-one would be left thinking, shouldn't she be able to survive that?
Losing someone that close to you is more than just personal, it was too much and in her last moments she was trying to tell him she loved him and barely got the chance. Someone trying to tell you that they love you in their last moments and dies right there, that’s beyond messed up. The damage was done and she couldn’t get off in time.

I liked how they put this in the trailer for this movie. Just did not show her being impaled. But basically showed entirely what will kill her. Nice marketing touch.

*Actually One of Mystique Power Highlight was Fast Regeneration, she doesn't even have scar and the only wound that made her difficult to heal was a stab in the chest she got from logan,,,, Logan and Mystique are two mutants features Fast Regeneration Ability made them almost immortal and very slowly age.... it's just so happened that Jennifer Lawrence really pushed the desire to retire the character of Mystique...*

Welp, not very active in this movie tbh
went to see this in theaters. they audience actually applauded when jennifer lawrence character was killed. she was terrible as mystique. and the movies were written with her character heavily involved only because of her popularity. she single handedly destroyed the franchise. but days of future of past was 🔥🔥🔥

Rebecca Romijin looked so awesome as Mystique. By the time, they reached this film, they stopped trying and just simply dunked Jennifer Lawrence's face in some blue Kool-Aid.
Two movies and Fox still couldn’t do Dark Phoenix justice. Bless their little hearts.

Raven's death is similar to Wolverine's death in Logan. They both got impaled. Raven got impaled by a broken piece of wood and Wolverine got impaled on a tree branch.

you can tell the directing of this film was really... not good. All of these actors are really good and their performances feel so stiff. I think a lot of them were just done with these characters tbh

I hate that after all that talk about being more faithful to the dark phoenix saga they missed the mark so remarkably. Last stand’s issue was that not much time was used on Jean, but overall they accomplished more in that little time than this whole movie.
