We thought this Chinese Helmet was Junk

  • After the disastrous results from our first test of UHMWPE Chinese ballistic helmet a couple of viewers suggested it might be faulty material or improper manufacturing methods.
So we found another random chinese company that makes their ballistic helmets from aramid fibers (similar to Kevlar).
The helmet was suspiciously light and thin so we assumed it was total junk.
We didn't expect anything but this helmet blew us away!
The performance was on par with some much much more expensive high end helmets.
In fact, Žiga was so impressed that we have decided to buy a batch of these helmets to offer them as a budget alternative alongside high end PGD line of professional helmets.
Yes, the straps suck but those can be easily replaced, but the helmet is solid.
    Approved by Polenar 👍

you kidding? might be my experience as a gunner on various armored cars/trucks, but i would take this any day over a big bulky helmet in the cramped ass turret space, especially since it looked like it passed the blunt force test, lol. and if you mean metal by heavier (you probably dont), have fun with the neck pain after a long week of sitting on your ass in a security assignment for some public favor event in bumfuck desert. i would absolutely take this over a heavy helmet. people with more boots on the ground might have differing opinions on this matter, but given i don't have said helmet available, i think i will stick with my cvc for now(not like i have a choice). i would also love to have that Chinese face shield, but it is not to be sadly.

Didn't see the tests on the new aramid helmets but i saw some tests on the HDPE helmets - High Densitiy PolyEthylene is stronger and better at stopping bullets than aramid fibers but the biggest problem with it is that it doesn't bond well with any glues or by itself. So when a bullet hits it, layers tend to delaminate easier thus creating bigger deformation.
Maybe the key would be an outer shell made from HDPE and inner shell from aramid fibers - but that would also be quite expensive to produce

@@PolenarTactical Garand Thumb made a video 9 months ago testing the U.S. army’s new IHPS helmet and the deformations that resulted from standard pistol calibers is pretty staggering compared to the company that produces these helmets y’all showcased, this Chinese company y’all partnered with is quite impressive. And similar issues arises with the British VIRTUS helmets, very lightweight helmets it seems with protection deficiencies.
Thank you for the response and input, I didn’t know HDPE was a stronger material.

@@Tax_Collector01 HDPE is currently the lightest, strongest and cheapest material to produce. It's used in ballistic plates and a lot of other applications but it seems that performance varies depending on the manufacturing process and bonding.
I checked and IHPS is also made from HDPE, that's probably why it shows increased deformation

@@PolenarTacticalUHMWPE is in helmets, HDPE is in milk jugs and plastic bags.
I think the delamination on UHMWPE is because the adhesive doesn't penetrate into the fabric the way it would with kevlar.
Some uhmwpe helmets are heated to stop the delamination...

I'd imagine things have improved quite a bit since then though. Any kind of composite layering done well would be better than stamped steel.

It provides little to no protection for soldiers, despite being used by the Taiwan Army, and produced by the local corrupted combat-gear contractors there.
