  • Part 3 of a historic pictorial essay of Trinidad and Tobago. Pt. 3 takes you to the north west part of Trinidad from Roxy roundabout, through St James, to Chagaramas the home of one of the American bases during the second world war and the site of the signing of the Caricom document. From there see the country club and the Royal Palms of Maraval on the way to Maracas beach. Stop by a cocoa plantation in the northern range before comming upon Mt.St. Benedict . Visit Arima, the town of the most gifted calypsonian the Lord Kitchener.Arima was also a watering hole for soldiers at the Wallerfield base. The journey goes through the old Southern Road and the sugar belt to Point Lisas and the oil refinery at Pointe A Pierre not far from the San Fernando Hills and further south to the Pitch lake. Next we stop over to the copra estates in Mayaro before jetting off to the sister isle Tobago.
