Gah! As a Canadian living in the UK, I freaking love my GMT! I love just looking down, and knowing the time where my mom and sister are! ❤ Loved this video.... AS ALWAYS!
Glycine airman is a good choice as well
GMT is perhaps my favorite watch complication, so I loved this episode. What made this great for me, though, is that you mentioned the Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage in blue. While I have pulled the trigger on other watches, as a watch geek I have that ever changing wishlist, but the Alpina has remained firmly entrenched on my "GMT wishlist" for about 2 years. Thanks for the episode, Jory. Keep up the good work.
I have several GMTs. Yet what am I wearing right now? My $20 God tier Casio Worldtime
Wearing my god tier Casio a500wga at the moment too 👌✌️ love having my favourite destinations on a quick button and see the time and little map change
FUCKING GOD TIER!!!!!
I MEAN..... FAIR ONE BABES!
Anything but a Hublot 😂
The Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT was on my wrist today and I love it so much. It's absolutely stunning
One of the best men in the watch world. Humble, caring, respectful, and classy. Thank you for your work, my friend!
Yesterday, I ordered the Mido Ocean Star GMT from Macys for 25% off, bringing it under $1000. Can't wait to get it, it's a true GMT too.
Longines VMP GMT 41mm here, easy grab and go travel watch, the perpeputal calendar is a nice touch, even updates the date when you switch between time zones
Without a doubt your best/my favorite video you have done- and you have done some greats. Thanks.
Wow 😯 you showed a few I really really liked! I’m digging the certina a lot!
I purchased a Longines Conquest VHP GMT 41mm last November! Fantastic watch!!
I own the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT and I absolutely love it. I currently own 4 Hamiltons from the Jazzmaster line,as well as, 3 other Hamiltons. I guess you could say I'm a fan of the brand. I also grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania, which was the original home of Hamilton.
I have 5 Hamilton’s. I also grew up in Lancaster Pa. Right near the old Hamilton watch factory
The Longines VHP is also available in 41 mm, a wonderful watch! Plus minus 5 sec per year as well!
Love both the Hamilton and the Alpina. I have a vintage Bulova Astronaut gmt. It's beautiful
Both the Certina and the Mido watches in this video feature the ETA C07.661 movement which has the quick set hour hand that is desirable for fans of GMTs along with the 80 hour power reserve. This movement is currently only featured in watches by Tissot, Mido and Certina and they are all large watches, but this is certainly a movement to keep your eye on. Hopefully it will be included in more modestly sized watches and we can all benefit from “traveller’s” GMT watches at really affordable price points.
Thank you for reminding me of the Certina with the PM80 with GMT....what a great movement that has for less than $1000! You might have mentioned the difference between the classic GMT with quick-set hour hand like your explorer vs. the swatch GMTs with the date/gmt hand setting.

I travel a lot for both business and pleasure and for me, a GMT is a must. I have both the Alpina and the Mido. Both are well made and comfortable on the wrist. A couple of my colleagues have the Longines and swear by their accuracy.
I love my Jazzmaster GMT with the map: setting the 24-hour hand to UTC shows where is noon, and thus the time everywhere.
Man I need a GMT in my watch box. The Hammie has definitely been on my list
Gah.... you DEFINITELY need a GMT in your life!!
I purchased the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT last month and I love it. Beautiful watch!
Vostok have some badass GMT models for pennies!!
My first GMT: Zenith Elite GMT in steel/gold with a small second on the 9-position and the date on the 3-position. Automatic movement. Saphire. Beyond 10 mm thickness, a very nice dress watch. Bought in Munich mid 90s.
Actually, I added the Seiko GPS Solar Dual Time 5X53 Cherry Blossom to my collection, IMO one of the most advanced GMT complication watches.
Loving the Alpina Startimer followed by a close second the Hamilton Jazzmaster🤩
Alpina and Longines would be my top picks. Great vid as always! 👍
Squale gmt (dusky) 40mm case for 600 bucks Sellita movement, nice piece and a strap monster
Great list. I would add any of the Glycine Airmen.
Picked up the Seiko GMT Tuna PADI edition (SUN065) recently. Love the midnight blue dial, been wearing it most days since. Bigger at 48mm though works great on my 7 3/4 inch wrist
I use the world time function on my GA-2000 g shock to check if my friends in America are sleeping or in school before I call them... Really useful function
I own that Citizen Eco-Drive. The bracelet is incredible with the glide lock style micro adjustment.
Nice.
I would imagine most, if not all, of those complications, did not have a jumping hour hand, given nothing was over a grand.
Thanks, as always, for creating this type of content.
These Longines are available in 41mm too. I own one. Looks very OK on my 7 inch wrist.
And in addition to all you said it has a unique function. The time could be adjusted via smartphone. There is an app that adjust the time on the watch with the help of flash. So no need to spend battery energy as Bluetooth is not used for “connecting” with a smartphone.
It also has a sleeping mode to save battery power.
So, it’s definitely my first choice out of your selection. The second choice would be Hamilton. Very functional and good looking mechanical watch.
I love my Laco GMT. Found a slightly used one in great condition for under 1k.
Great list, definitely need a GMT in my collection! Just a question on the Certina. I've been reading some negative comments about the pvd coating on watches, that it's easily scratched, and looks bad when scratched or scuffed as a result. Is it really so easily damaged?
My go-to travel watch is the Hamilton jazzmaster GMT Korea edition.. looks good and won't cry over a just in case lost/stolen watch
That Alpina is nice! I wanted something different so I went with a Porsche Design Globetimer, which was able to get below $1k. They go on sale a lot. Also the Airman deserves a nod. Fun watch.
First GMT was a Steinhart Ocean GMT....But I have preordered the Sharp Edge GMT coming in May/June
Thanks for this episode. Let me bring this one up: Citizen BJ7100. I think this and it's variations were never released in the US, but you can find them new on EBay for under $300. I don't own it but I'm tempted to pull the trigger.
What a great surprise to know about the Certina. Definately my Option. Tks Jordan!!!
Hummm ... interesting list of GMT watches. Really like the Citizen Promaster.
Thanks for sharing.
I've fallen in love with the Farer microbrand which has a few GMT / world timer options. They are a little bit over 1K, but beautiful design for the money!
I really like the Alpina and the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT. I currently own an Omega Aquaterra GMT Ref 231.13.44.52.04.001.
The Longines also comes in a 41mm. Very accurate - mine only gained about 2-3 seconds over the past year.
GMT hand w rotating bezel has been very useful for keeping track of daily meeting times in another time zone 🙌🏼 (Zodiac Super Seawolf Blackout GMT)
Love my Longines Conquest VHP GMT. It also passes my rule that my GMTs should be able to handle half- & quarter-hour timezones.
I think the Glycine Airman offers an excellent GMT for the price.
I have the bronze/blu strap and it is beautiful and utilitarian as well. 😍
Yes and you can't beat the history behind it too.
I REALLY Like the Certina DS Action. I agree the date window seems like an after thought, it would look better at the 6 o'clock.
I'm drawn to that Alpina GMT and would love to pick one up at some point.
Good video. There is also a 41mm version of the VHP GMT.
I don't know if it is still available, but there is also Seiko Sportura GMT under 1k range. They look like explorer 2 haha
That’s one of the ugliest watches at its price point, woof
Merkur Pilot GMT - I cannot reccomend this watch enough. It's an automatic GMT (Chinese ETA clone, but well made) with a domed sapphire crystal, rotating dive bezel, 200m water resist, a great rubber strap, fantastic lume, a 2 year warranty and a design that mimics some cool Sinn models but is different enough to be all original. I ordered one a few weeks ago and it took less than a week to arrive through international shipping. So far I'm very impressed with it.
Forgot to mention - it's also cheaper than almost every watch on this list.
Never really desired the GMT function so it makes consideration for purchase moot. I love to see there are affordable mechanical GMT's though 😉
For me the best I’ve seen is the mido ocean master gmt, 24 hour indicators on the face and a regular dive dial on the outside, mwah chefs kiss
I love my aplina startimer in black. i put it on a black and red rally strap and love the true flier mechanical gmt movement. my only criticisms are 1) screwdown crown for the internal bezel but no screw down crown for the time setting crown on an automatic feels like i could have had a bit more water resistance if both crowns were screw down 2) the printed aplina logo would have been so much more striking if it was an applied high polish alpina A
Orient Star Seeker Automatic GMT, TIMEX T2P427DH 3 GMT Quartz, and the Citizen Perpetual Chrono AT are worthy considerations for this list.
Really liked the Longines and the Mido.
Beautiful pieces!!!!
Looking good Jory! Great review!
I only have one GMT in my collection (currently - I traded another away a while back). I have a So&Co Hudson (Yachtmaster II homage) with a GMT complication. Quartz, though I love it and affordable to almost anyone - even me!
Im in the market for a gmt, currently eyeing the Monta Skyquest pretty hard, farer Lander Gmt, and also the Steinhart Ocean 39 with the red and blue blue ceramic bezel and vintage lume. Im gonna wait and see if there are any other new releases this spring before making a decision.
I have the Citizen BJ9127-00A Love it and the GMT I planning on getting is from Tudor 😬
I think the Alpina is especially cool! Freaking love it!
I own an Orient GMT Polaris and I love it!
The Yema Worldtime Steel, Monta Atlas GMT and the Batavi Kosmopoliet GMT are my favourite watches in this approximate price range.
Great selection.
I have the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT Worldtimer myself on the black leather strap and I absolutely love it.
Oh well smart! 👏
@@BrittPearceWatches Thank you? 😌
Why did they stop selling them!!!
Late to the party. It's double the price but how do you feel about the Laco Frankfurt GMT. I personally like the Flieger / Field style with the GMT function.
The Boldr was my favorite from the video. My #1 GMT would be the Tudor BB GMT.
I really like the Certina as well as the Mido.ive actually had my eye on the Certina for a bit now just haven't had the money to buy one.i also would have to agree about the date wheel.both would look soo much nicer with a black date wheel.sure being that the movements are pretty common you could change date wheel out to match though.something I personally will be looking into when I do get the Certina.
I would say one of my favorite gmts for under $1k is the Glycine Airman. There are a huge variety of them from vintage to more modern variations and sizes from 36mm to 45mm. They even have a crazy rare version that reads 4 timezones. Look for the "Double 24", if curious.
I've owned 5 Airmans. I prefer the "Purist" versions.
An original design and actually beat the Rolex GMT to be first commercially available automatic GMT.
Seriously, forget that Invicta relationship. They are still made in same Glycine factory in Switzerland and still top notch quality and heritage for the price. I think Invicta only helps Glycine financially to continue making a lot of great watches, which is a good thing.
God bless those easy to read and catchy Swatch group references :D
GMT is cool - most helpful (to me) for working with people around the world. Used to do a lot of work with Australia - and that's far enough away to be difficult to do the time math quickly in the head. Also cool just for keeping track of GMT.
I like most of your picks here.
Really like the Alpina (great vintage look)
Love the look of the Longines - with that while dial has a polar-explorer look (to me) which is very nice. Don't care for black PVD though.
Hamilton - very nice.
I don't own any of these - would probably buy the Alpina before any others.
As a newbie to the hobby, I am stuck in the position of appreciating the additional complication but not enough to “invest” in it.
That being said, if I were to go with a GMT, my value option alternative to the great ones listed in your video might be the Orient Star Seeker Automatic GMT
Rather than the Explorer II in the more upscale model, I believe I would go with the Grand Seiko SBGN003 or SBGN005.
My favorite is the Jazz master . Great show
I love that Hamilton! The only GMT I own is a Rotary Henley. Quartz, but it was only $200.
What do you think about the brand Christopher Ward ??? Thank you for the great content on your vids !!! 💫
I have an Aerowatch Quartz GMT which I like very much.
Ahhh! I love that Certina but WHY does it have to be 43mm???
Same thought
Also, love Certina but not the Powermatic 80. I'd rather have a normal Eta 2824 with the smoother 28800 beat.
I've wanted that alpina since last month
God that dark blue dial heritage is godly
It's not related to GMT's but should I aim for a second hand cartier basculante or a brand new solo? Great video btw!
You can grab a Yema Superman GMT with an ETA for just a little north of $1K. Classic looking, a few bezel options, and two sizes - 39mm and 41mm. Thoughts?
I actually just sold my Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT. Mine had the silver dial. A great watch but horrible lume. The black dial is probably the way to go the silver dial was gorgeous but impossible to read. I had the bracelet but mine lived on brown leather. Definitely the way to go.
Love my Hanhart S 105 OE GMT - only wish it were 42mm vs 40
I got a Citizen ecodrive GMT World Timer and a vintage Seiko.
Wish to buy the Longines VHP GMT. It is something.
The Jazzmaster is stunning. Not a true GMT but the Amfibia Reef 080481 is a steal. Yes, it's a Vostok but you said it, "affordable" is subjective.
I currently only have one GMT. It's the Phoibos Eagle Ray GMT. A lovely quartz which my wife got me for under $200.
My daily use watch is an Oris Aquis GMT, but the BOLDR you showed here is tempting. :-)
I own the Aragon Hercules Soprod GMT. It has a Soprod C125 GMT movement. Amazing watch. $670.
Liked the Longines. Just with it was 2-4mm smaller.
That certina is my absolute favorite. I was a little surprised that the Casio royale didn’t make the cut.
I think I like the Mido GMT the best! Can you talk more about the different kinds of GMT movements--I understand that some people maintain that most low cost GMT watches are not "true GMT" watches. What do they mean? Thanks
Jory, this was an excellent addition to your oeuvre, and perfectly capped by that Hamilton.
BTW, are you familiar with the great jazz drummer, Jeff Hamilton, who put out a popular and tremendously swingin' jazz album titled, "It's Hamilton Time?"
I just love the idea of a drummer using that old ad slogan to perfect horological effect.
But again, top o' your game on this one.
Love a GMT! I don't normally gravitate to Mido, but their subtle coloured numbers was really cool... shall we call that a "Diet Pepsi?" 😉
That Boldr is brilliant! That would be my choice.
The Certina should get even more credit for having a true GMT movement.
They have true travelers gmt movement?
I live gmt watches, snd gave two...Zelos Horizons 2 (teal dial), Ball Engineer 2 (black dial)
I like time-only watches. Is there any GMT watches that fit in this category? I could only think of Vostok. Is there anything else?
The first thing I notice about the Alpina is the GMT hand being off kilter. The time says 10:10 the GMT suggests 9:50
That Globetrotter is my favoirite of a bunch.
If I get a GMT watch, should I actually set the GMT hand to Greenwich Meridian Time?
I have the Hamilton jazz master but changed to leather strap.
To be honest I never knew that the Jazz Master line had a GMT. Thanks 3T! Now I have to buy another watch.😉
The Longines VHP looks great but I really like the Hamilton Jazzmaster GMT. There was a white dial version that I really lusted after but of course it was all sold out. Oh well.
